Sega has the upcoming XBLA release of Crazy Taxi set up at their E3 booth this year, so I stopped by to see if I could remember how to do the boost thing (I couldn’t) and asked them about the licensed content that helped to make the original Dreamcast game so great.

Unfortunately, on the musical front, it looks like we won’t be hearing those Offspring and Bad Religion tracks in this port. The gentleman at the booth told me that the bands wanted too much money to put the songs back into this port, and he said that they’ve been replaced by “independent punk bands.”

To twist the knife he had just plunged into my chest, he then explained that due to similar licensing issues, we wouldn’t be seeing a lot of the locations from the original game, either. That means we won’t have fares screaming “Take me to KFC!” on our 360’s.

No overt product placement? No Offspring?

This game just got slightly better.

That is what MADE the game. If it wasn't for those 3 songs played over and over again and the 'TAKE ME TO THE LEVI'S STORE!', it just wouldn't be the same game!

You never played the original Crazy Taxi, didn't you?

Because I assure you, it's one of the few times where having overt product placement and the Offspring is actually a good thing.

I WANNA GO TO BURGER KING! (Maybe that was just Crazy Taxi 2)

The music I heard in the new XBLA version suits the game well. I didn't hate it. I'll still buy this new one.

If you're getting it on 360, shouldn't be a problem. It's that other console I'm worried about.

Further bad news for those looking forward to the DC ports: While Crazy Taxi will be available in 16:9, Sonic Adventure will only support 4:3.
