But that's his thing isn't it? He's a film nerd. He gives you film nerd boners when you watch his pulpy movies.

I saw the Basterds last night and loved it. It is only on certain rare occasions that I find myself totally captivated by an actress' performance, so I have just one thing to say about Melanie Laurent:
I would totally let her shit on my chest.

If only she weren't Jewish and were on the other side of the fence. ;P

The Day the Earth Stood Still. A re-make of a 50's Sci-fi staring Keanu Reeves. The modern-day environmental spin they put on it was good and Keanu as an Alien suits him perfectly.

And to put their money where their mouth is, it was the first carbon-neutral film ever produced. Nicely done for once Hollywood.

With movies based on existing pieces I prefer to check out the source material first before seeing the film (I don't want the condensed movie experience to taint my enjoyment of the original).

To keep things interesting I recently decided to do the exact opposite, so I rounded up a herd of midgets and had them sing the oompa loompa song before showering me with rusty nails and broken glass - OH TO FEEL ALIVE!...

Midget fun aside, what I actually did was the following:
I watched Coraline the movie, then read the comic book adaption and then read the acclaimed children's novel that it was based on. What surprised me the most about this experience was that it was the movie that felt like it did the best job with the story. The movie was packed full of fantasy and had a colourful style, while the comic and the novel both gave a bland (IMO) representation of the story.

And now that I've conducted that loose experiment it's time to really feel alive (in the only possible way kiddies) - with crack cocaine packed in my sinuses and silky soft H in my veins.

Remember, Remember the 5th of November, the Gunpowder Treason and Plot, I see no reason why the Gunpowder Plot should ever be forgot.

The gunpowder treason should ever be forgot*

and I too just finished watching this.
(I do so this early in the morning as I paused to sleep half way through, no relevance to the movie and it's awesomeness.)
