The one thing I am curious about is...

What would be the best way to go about modding the 360 to play a certain....Post Apocalyptic Roleplaying game...if doesnt end up coming out here...

And one was forced to import...would there be anything you could do

(I know nothing about this area, so forgive me if its a stupid question)

I think you will find your answer if you take a journey to this FAQ:

Xbox 360 “upgrade” FAQ

A firmware modded console will allow you to play "backup" games from your original discs. To make backup games you will require a Samsung sh-d162 or sh-d163 DVD-ROM reader with modded "kreon" firmware in your computer. You will also require either "schtrom" or "xbox backup creator" for ripping the image from the original disc; and IMGburn for burning the image at 1x speed to a good quality dual layer disk such as Verbatim or Ritek x series (all free).

While it is possible to use bigger unauthorized HDD's on the 360, you are limited to 120gig fat32 formatted USB media. You can not copy entire games to the USB HDD as you could with the xbox1, however you may use this for mp3's and windows media files.

The firmware mod will not let you play imported games with the exception of region re-authored discs using a program such as "SS merger", in which case the game would actually need to have been released in your own region in the first place.

Any modded console has the potential to get banned on xbox live (they ban the console, not the account). Having any modification to your console including even fan cooling mods is a breach of the MS T&C's and gives them the right to do what they want; even removing your system warranty it would seem. There is no way of current, for proper cost effective full stealth mods (even though lots advertise this) as the disk itself leaves the imprint on the consoles hardware, not the firmware mod.

If you are a heavy live user I would recommend to either be prepared to buy a second console if your console gets banned or don't get it modded in the first place.

Pure region free for 360 is always on the agender....but nothing just yet.

FYI importing games from overseas is completely legal (as long as they are legitimate games)..............its shunned by distributors because they make less money...but its still completely legal.

OK Jonny, another question from me!
This is one for those that may need to justify the console in the lounge room
Which of the systems is the easiest and best media player?
can i attach an ext HD to the consoles?
Which is the best for internet radio & Browsing

For the best fully functional media player, streamer, shoutcast, podcast, server etc you cant beat a modded xbox1. It will play just about any format know to man...and what does not work with the standard or pimped packages on Xbox Media Center you can always find a python script that will run it. However it is limited to standard def unless you go all out with a ram upgrade. In addition you can do a lot of other cool stuff, I have a guide for the modded xbox1 ive written ill upload at one point, but its fairly big.

Keeping on track though this is fairly definitive guide to the media capabilitys:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/XBMC

The wii is just starting to pick up in the homebrew and media scene with some media players being released or updated every week, the wii has the advantage of wifi and bluetooth and a cool motion sensitive wireless controller. I hope one day to see the wii kick the xbox1 off its pedastool...but not for quite a while i am guessing

The 360 does the best job of high def due to its raw processing power and does not need to be modded but has stuff all codec support limiting you mostly to registered divx and proprietry wmv/wms/mp3 and itunes...in short good for high def porn and ipod lovers....but lame by comparison to the xbox1 for everything else.

The ps2 has some homebrew media players...but from what ive used...they are no where near as good as the competition

You can use the DS for mp3's and dpg movies with an adapter card (i use a high capacity 4gig which is more than enough to hold all my games and most of my music)...the sakura firmware on the m3 real or itouch being the best for this.

PSP out of the box will run some media...however you have far more options once it is firmware hacked...along with being able to run games off the memory card to save battery life

The ps3...hrrm...I don't like it, as its way overpriced for the amount of hardware and bulkyness and functionality and the fact that i cant mess with it...but I am sure Jamie will have something to say about it *cough*sny fn boi *cough* :o

Do you sell this? How much? I've been wondering if I should get one, I would save on batteries. Mmmm Doctor Who on tram makes me a happy panda :D

To dispel a myth...chicks not only play video games they also look at porn.......just not as much :P

Actually funny story...I was talking to a friend who owns a nails care beauty shop a few days ago and I was telling him how well the wii was selling....how the demographic was finally incorporating the female market....

To which both young women in immediate earshot getting their nails done both protested that they both owned xbox 360 and were fps players...and really had little interest in the wii......I guess i got owned...lol

Just a quick note for those that don't know yet...

The new model Philips drive in the 360 cannot be hacked (yet) and is due to arrive in new consoles in Australia over the next few weeks....at the time of writing, buying a $349 arcade ensures that this unit can still be modded....in a few weeks, then i doubt this will be the case...........start lay-buys or buy outright now if you want the option!

is it possible to play xbox live after modding the xbox
