Hell Fucking Yes.

If this comes off, and it turns that fucked up Weapon XI crap into the real Deadpool.

Fox will have redeemed themselves.

Its clear that X-Men Origins Movies are based on how the characters came about in the Movie Universe, not the comic book Universe.

But the article says:

Quote:

"One is the Japan backstory which was announced earlier, the other is about Deadpool. The film, which would be produced by Lauren Shuler Donner and Marvel, has Ryan Reynolds attached and would be a complete exploration of this unique character -- his origins, his emergence as the 'Merc with the Mouth,' etc."

and

Quote:

Elsewhere, The Hollywood Reporter claims that the movie will go "back to the roots of the character known for his slapstick tone and propensity to break the fourth wall."

Hope to god this thing works out.

Oh and: Wolverine 2 Greenlit. Japan Storyline Get.

Oh shit, I need some tissues...
A Deadpool movie seems like a good idea. Reynolds was great as Deadpool for the short time they let him talk, and the fourth wall is always the most fun to break. Hopefully they make it clever and not just some "stare straight down the barrel of the camera and tilt head" shtick.
Wolverine in Japan has all the right ingredients. Ninjas with swords + Wolverine with claws = stabby goodness which was lacking from the first movie. I think they also need to make him angrier and more rough around the edges.

I refer back to the "What you been reading thread". I knew they were saving Japan story for part two. And Leon's right. They need to lose some of the gloss, and not fuck Deadpool up anymore. I mean seriously.

[...] and not fuck Deadpool up anymore.

I have no idea what the hell they thought they were doing with Deadpool's mutilation. There was an alternate universe Deadpool that appeared in three issues of a Spiderman comic that looked like this:

But even then they let him talk (even though this iteration was not funny).
What was the problem with being true to what made the character entertaining in the comics?
It seems to me (based only on the rumours :P) that the Deadpool and 2nd Wolverine movies are attempts to get back to the comic book roots of the characters, which I take as an admission of failure with the Wolvie movie.

*LeonK puts his comic book erection back in his pants.

The movies fucked up majorly with Sabretooth's character. In the X-Men movie, he was just one of Magneto's bitches. He had no real relevance and had his more classic look. The Mariko thing is a large part of Wolvie's mythos, so I was surprised it wasn't even touched on. And Gambit met the X-men through Rogue, didn't he?

It's been far too long. I wish I'd kept my collection from my childhood. I had all the Clone Spidey series. God damn that was mental.

I think Gambit knew Storm from when she was a thief and she was the one that brought him in. I think Gambit's cock-teasing relationship with Rogue started later and was a big part of his character development from then on. I know what you mean though, Gambit felt tacked on in the movie.

Yeah, that sounds more like it. But his relationship with Rogue was a major part of his character. But then again, it didn't even cover Rogue's flying at the hands of... God damn it. I forgot her name.

If you are talking about Rouge's 3 other powers flight, super strenght and invincibility. She stoll then along with the complete mind from Ms. Marvel
