THAT SWORD COST 5000 DOLLURU For me, the Godfather. It seems the more accessible one of the three. Like Super King. |

I wouldn't mind some more Kubrick (plus I need some new Sellers material for the ol' spank bank - those Clouseau/Kato wrestling scenes just aren't cutting it anymore). |

Godfather it is. I've never seen it, so I'm very worried it won't live up to the hype. We reconvene next Monday. GOGOGOGO |

It's the freaking Godfather. It'd be really hard to believe that your store wouldn't have it. I'll pass on this one. I'm like Jason in that I haven't seen the film, but I want to. And I want to pick up that boxset with all three films...but I've got no monies at the moment. I spent them on the Batman boxset which is hard to find nowadays. |

Kinda. It's the Coppola restoration - the one that got released not too long ago. It's just the boxset, nothing fancy (or awesome) like that. |

The best films, especially if they are cult hit type things, get stolen, or hired so much they get broken. |

Great film, obvious everyone wont agree but for a "wog" like myself (as u see by my name!) it strikes a chord. The Godfather began an onslaught of copycat style flicks, basically a blueprint for future gangster flicks and cliches galore, such as the beginning at the wedding, Brando (GENIUS) stroking his little pussy cat while discussing business. How many times you seen the arch villain stroking his pussy? Robert Duval, an excellent performance as the advisor, not to mention this picture made Pacino blow up and he did a great job i thought playing the straightlaced brother wanting no part of the family but slowly being pulled in to the olive oil business. Mostly good performances all round, the score suited the drama, sometimes slow but effective message of portraying a minority minority experience after the elusive American Dream. The horse head and fishes may seem kind of not as effective as when this came out in the 70's, but still sort of creeps me out (fuckin waking next to a bloody head!). Crooked cops, insights into Italian American life somewhat, greed power all the usual. This is pretty much the one that started the public fascination with the Mob, especially in the US. Overall, epic story, slightly stereotypical, some focus on the american justice system, therefore Mob justice comes to play. Political, hypocritical, subtle brutality, ruthlessness, brotherhood and love/relationships. All this and more or less a summary, classic epic, shame about the sequels, still a fantastic trilogy basically. To this day, still awesome. |
