Outside of armaments, you can also learn skills. Skills are pretty much abilities you can use with or without your armaments and tend to be more mundane than armaments but actually useful. Things like first aid, swordplay, things along that nature count. When it comes down to it, skills cost 5 XP per level, with a normal cap of 5 levels. The five various levels are:

1st - You have the experience of someone who is able to at least use it to make a living. You are competent but along the lower tiers of competency.
2nd - You know enough that you could teach someone else proficiently. Others would trust you to do lower level tasks without any supervision.
3rd - You are at the level of someone who has specialized in that field. Think of a person who has done this for a few years and not done much else. You are very familiar and while you can still improve, you are better than most any lay person who just did casual study.
4th - You tend to be capable of teaching the finer points with great ability. You are one of the more well known people in your field.
5th - You are one of the true movers and shakers. You are one of the best known people in your field and are capable of doing things most people can't even dream.

So the amount of Experience required for each level is static across the board? There's no curve?

Ya. I figure that if someone gets to level five and wants to go higher? Then the curve will start. But a major theme is that of human limitations, which level 5 really isn't going against at that point.

Fair enough. That works for me.
