Atazos exited the elevator and walked out onto the floor in time to meet with the fortress of a man who was Baile. The sky pirate had expected a tall, thin captain or a short and husky foreman... the sight of the giant man had definitely caught him by surprise. He smiled, a little amused by this revelation. Being as polite as possible to his new employer, he reached out and grappled his hand around the saucer sized hand extended to him to shake it. "That's me. The name's Atazos. I picked up your flyer out by some pub. I've been aching to get back on board a ship again." He didn't put too much thought into the fact the large Novali had an abundance of facial hair. He had met several Novali pirates in the past who grew beards. Atazos, however, was not one of them. "So what kind of work have you got for me, boss?"

Adventure Log As expected the huge Novali had a handshake that was more than firm, heck his hand was probably twice the size of Atazos' own. At least the firm handshake indicated a very confident man with a lot of respect for his fellow workers. It was the handshake of a real hard worker and not like these imperial guards with their fancy titles. Baile laughed lightly, and even then his brawly voice echoed through the entire storage floor. "Eager gettin' to work I hear. I like yer enthusiasm, kid" he said and intended to give Atazos a light friendly pat on the back, but managed to make it feel more like a friendly attempt to break the vertebra on him. The outside of Baile gave it all away though, he was strong, there was no denying it. "Well, there'll be a ship up on the platform in a few. By then we'll need to have their order ready for em so we can haul it over to their ship. Then we will service the ship if needed. I am sure you'll get into it in no time." Baile continued with a encouraging tone on his voice. There was not a any time to slack of or even for Atazos to answer before Baile had walked over to one of the piles of sacks laying on the floor nearby. He picked two of them up with ease and very quickly threw one of them over to Atazos. "We'll just need a couple more of these, so take another one with ya and then head over to the platform elevator with me and the others." Baile picked up yet another of the sacks and threw them both up on his massive shoulders. "You said you had been on a ship before, what kind of ship?" he said trying to strike up a conversation. Baile liked to know the people working around him, especially since making a nice working enviorment for everyone, not the least newcomers, was very important to him. |

The pace of things up in the storage room were not a surprise to him. Things were likely to get rather hectic. He followed the lead of the foreman and went to grab the last bag and toss it up on his shoulders. He followed closely behind Baile to the freight lift. He was not really one for talking while he was working, but the man filling his paycheck at the end of the day wanted to chat, he didn't see any reason not to. He stood on the elevator, waiting for it to kick on and bring them up to the platform. "I got into the business a long while back. It was a merchant ship called the Brazen Beauty." He was not completely lying. The first ship that he was affiliated with was called the Brazen Beauty. Alas, he knew better than to outright reveal his association with a band on glorified thieves, even if they had long since disbanded. He planned to answer any questions asked truthfully, but leave out the bits about thievery, piracy, and the Leviathan... for his employment and his freedom's sake. Perhaps, if he became better acquaintances with Baile, he would tell him the full story. But for the time being, his masked experiences would be more than enough to sate any curiosity that the man may have had. It would also give an explanation as to why he was already savvy with airships and airship related labor. Edited by Solomonaros, Oct 21 2011, 01:09 AM.

Adventure Log The beast of a man clomped onto the elevator's metal floor, which thankfully could keep up with the giant man's weight (cough). Baile placed down one of the sacks from his shoulders onto the floor right next to him. There was already a lot of sacks and barrels placed in the big elevator, and there were more coming in along with the other workers. "A merchant ship eh?" Baile said while waiting in the other workers to get onto the elevator. "I used to be on one myself. Never let that ship down, even broke a dragon's neck with my bare hands to protect it once I did." Baile put his hands together in a crushing motion and laughed loudly. It sounded improbable, but at the same time very much like something Baile would be able to do for some reason. The last worker finally got into the elevator and took a place right next to a panel and a crank. He gave Baile thumbs up and got a nod back from Baile. The worker pulled down the crank and instantly the elevator floor started shaking. The engines came alive and a loud sound of huge cogs turning echoed through the place. And so the elevator started moving upwards, slowly but steady. "I should probably introduce your working partners on the platform." Baile yelled through the engine noises of the elevator. "That over there is Krill Lombard." he pointed over to the thin young man up by the crank. He had completely shaved of all his hair and instead had a tatoo with strange markings reaching from his temple to the back of his head. "He is good with engines, likes to improvise a lot when working." "And over here we have Andrei Akhatova." he pointed over to a man sitting on top of one of the barrels. Andrei had a blue bandana on his head, only making some of his blonde hair visible. His face had scars here and there and the right eye was missing and replaced by a glass one. "He can't talk, so he doesn't say much... or well anything really. Good kid though." "And lastly working on our team we have Vitaly Shirokii. The others are working on the storage floor, or on occasions they team up with us during big arrivals." Vitaly was unlike the others more well dressed and clean, in lack of better words. Comed dark brown hair and fancier working clothes, basically. Oddly enough he was the one who stood out the most in the group simply for the fact that he seemed a lot more ordinary than the others. Odd group at least, that was for sure. "Questions, boy?" Baile said as the elevator slowly reach it's destination. |

Atazos shook his head slowly, not helping but chuckle a bit at Baile's claim. It was common among sailors to exaggerate tales of greatness to the point of grandeur. Although he had no doubt that the gaint had encountered and bested a dragon at some point, but the image of a giant, thousand pound dragon breathing fire was not the first thing to come to mind. He was sure that by "dragon" he meant an adolescent drake that was only slightly larger than him. And by "bare hands" he meant with deck-mounted cannon or two handed sword. In any case, he knew better than to call him out as that was reserved only to men who wanted to wake up in the sick bay. He followed the verbal directions as Baile pointed out the various crew members. It was a small crew with one full-time engineer. This told Atazos that the ship was probably small with two propellers maximum. As Baile finished, he nodded, waiting on the service elevator to rise to the platform. "Small, elite crew. Probably seen a lot of airtime." He kept his responses and queries short as he had a feeling that this beast of a Novali was very talkative. Again, Atazos was not a fan, but he kept up with the banter if only to kill the time while they waited on the agonizingly slow steam-lift. |

Adventure Log Baile nodded with a smile poking through his thick beard and almost looked like he was going to get a tear in his eye any second. "Finest crew one could ever ask for I tell ya." He really did believe in his crew with all his heart, and one could probably expect him to anything for them. It was most likely just a question about time before Atazos too was part of this little family of Baile's. "I am sure you will get along with em just fine too, Atazos, don't ya worry." The elevator engined gave away a loud squeel as it abruptly stopped on the platform floor. At that exact moment the lights in the room turned themselves on and revelead the docking area of the tower. Shielded by steel gates the snow and wind had no way of entering the area. Once the gates where opened a ship could thereafter enter the docking area in the middle of the room and be protected from the storms while they gathered supplies and had the ship serviced. "The ship is coming toward the east gate, open it up and turn the docking platform, Krill." Baile called out as he once again picked up the sack from the floor and onto his shoulder. "Aiye, sir!" Krill replied and gave a quick nod to the others who also picked up their own supplies and rushed them out into the room. It was all happening very fast, but all Atazos had to do was follow along the others and place the things down in another area, and then get ready to lock down the ship to the docking platform. Krill had now entered the control room and gave a thumbs up before he pulled a few levers which made the whole platform they were standing on turn slowly to the eastern gate. Once it was close enough Krill continued the process by opening up the steel gate which slowly revealed a ship moving towards the entrance. Vitaly placed down a barrel on the floor and looked over to Atazos. "Never gets less amazing this, don't you agree? So, are you ready?" he said as the platform locked into place with a loud metal clonk. |

The amount of emotion that Baile was showing seemed very strange to Atazos, but being as large and as strong as he was, he could pretty much show as much emotion as he pleased. Atazos shifted a little uncomfortably at the look of obvious kinship with the people who made up his crew. The sky pirate couldn't help but feel like a cad for exploiting this trust with the man's brothers of the sky, but whatever got him a bigger paycheck at the end of the day was enough of a moral bias to play along. In reality, Atazos cared very little about the men who he had been introduced to, but he still recognized them as crew members whom he would have to work with in order to keep the ship afloat and showcase his abilities. Perhaps if he did well enough, he would be able to keep coming back and gain a regular payoff from the work... but the obvious drawbacks would be risking the Empire finding out he was once a Sky Pirate. In any case, he would just roll with the punches for the time being. As the elevator stopped, he walked out onto the docking platform while carrying the bag he had been instructed to bring. There was a lot going on, but all Atazos had to pay attention to was the things that pertained specifically to him in order to get his job done. Again, as he got into position to get ready to work, he heard the foreman's voice. He looked across the dock at him, the roar of wind from the gates opening making it harder to hear. He shouted, "Ready as I'll ever be, boss!" He hoped that with the wind and snow blowing around, he wouldn't have to keep talking and he could concentrate on the tasks at hand. OOC

Adventure Log As Atazos had wanted the loud working place did not make for many conversations, however it felt like the workers of the north tower were slowly starting to accept him. The work of the day mostly consisted of moving cargo on and off ships that docked with the tower. Atazos also got to show of some engineering abilities while helping out Krill in one of the engine rooms during service work. All in all it was a very successful first day on the job. As the day was turning into evening the gates where closed down and the workers moved back down to the storage room to leave off the last bit of cargo that had been gathered for the day. Everyone seemed to be tired, but pleased with how the days work had went. "You did a fine job today, Atazos." Baile said with and patted him hard on the back. "It will be a pleasure to have you back here. Just keep it up." he continued, then walked away with a barrel over his shoulder and disappeared among the cargo. Now all that was left was to get paid at Moira's desk. On Atazos' way to the elevator Krill catched up and walked along side him. "How did you like your first day here, Atazos?" he asked while oddly enough sounding somewhat uninterested about his own question. "We don't really have any other engineers here, so I gotta admit it was sweet to see another one popping up from nowhere like that." he continued and quickly sounded a lot more enthusiastic. Probably just to have someone to talk about machines with was enough to excite Krill a little. > The North tower crew social link has been activated. > +4 Experience points gained. |

Atazos was a little worn out at the end of the day. It had been some time since he had a full day of real work to do. Throughout the course of the day, he felt like he had oiled some old, rusty parts of his brain that had gone without use while he had been living off the streets and picking pockets for a living. Despite how little 'honest' work paid off, it was nice to know that he could earn money without the worry of being tossed into prison. The day wound down with a sense of accomplishment and a good little feeling of not having to carry on a conversation with anyone while doing so. Now all he needed was a meal and a place to lay his head and the day would be complete. After the jarring thumb on his back by the gargantuan Baile, Atazos regained his lost breath and nodded. "No problem... *cough*" He began to walk to the elevator that would bring him to the storage area and then to the lift leading down to the ground floor when Krill came up to him and began walking at the same pace. Atazos got a feeling from Krill that he was young, wide eyed, and adventurous; all of these were traits that were severely changed when he became a pirate. But this was to be expected. This was an Empire facility, a place where they reaped and sowed fresh, fertile, and ambitious minds for the good of the Empire. Cynicism aside, Atazos looked to Krill as he spoke. The pirate smirked a bit in the same manner of amusement he did when Baile was going on. "Sorry to disappoint you, kid. I'm not an engineer by trade." He walked onto the lift and waited for Krill to get on before hitting the switch to send the slow lift down to the storage room. "I used to live on a ship. The things you end up learning in the heat of the moment are amazing... but I never got schooling myself." He leaned on he rail to alleviate his tired feet. The kid didn't seem to get on his nerves too much, though. This may have been because he had just started to speak. |

Adventure Log The fact that Atazos was not a engineer by trade did not discourage Krill at all, it only seemed to make him more interested about what he actually had to say. Krill had also noticed that Atazos ways how handling engines where not of the schooled ideals, but it was effective, he had definietly a lot to learn from it. "You do have a lot of skill that no schooling can teach though, that is for sure. I was schooled, never liked the "by the book" ideals of the imperial teaching system. There is so much to learn from being creative rather than actually follow set rules." It was easy to tell from his voice that Krill was not very fond of the empire. Whatever reason he had to feel that way he had probably noticed the same feeling in Atazos when they both looked each other in the eyes. Nothing else was said and no other words were exchanged between the two during the rest of the elevator ride. Even though there were no words Krill was probably the one Atazos got the closest connection to during this whole day. What exactly this connection would become was yet to be revealed, but there was definietly something there. As the elevator reached ground floor Krill once again turned to Atazos and said "Well, I guess I'll see you tomorrow. Hopefully we can talk more then." He gave Atazos one last look and a nod before stepping out of the elevator and walking towards the gate to leave the building. He gave Moira by the desk a wave as well and then disappeared into the snowy streets. Moira then looked over to Atazos with a smile from where she was sitting. |

Atazos would have been flattered by the boy's praise, but he had been around the block a few times and was no stranger to the compliments to his work. He didn't believe in modesty when it came to one's skill as he felt it was just a form of lying to one's self. He did offer a nod of appreciation to Krill for thinking so. He was quiet as well as he looked at the young engineer. He was still just a green lad without an ounce of command presence. But there was a wealth of potential in just his view on the world alone. He was right not to have too much trust in the Empire. They liked to mold green young men into zealots just like them, making sure the might and philosophy of the Nocturne Empire lived on thought the generations. Atazos was lucky to have been tugged out of that situation and put in a seat to view the large, mad organization from a new perspective; as its enemy. He would have a chance to converse with the kid later and said nothing as he ran off, but he did offer a quiet wave to Krill as he vanished from view. Again, he smirked in an amused manner to himself. Atazos stepped off the elevator and looked across the room at the lovely girl in the Empire garb again. Was it a risk to go over and give her more grief? Without a doubt. He strolled over to the desk and leaned against it. He didn't look at Moria, but rather stared off in the opposite direction with his back to the counter. "Good kid. Nice head on his shoulders. Might grow up to be a damn good gear-head one day." Atazos looked to the side, his opaque eye glancing back at her. "That is if his ship doesn't get shot down by some human craft." He waited for a response, sure that his charged sentiment would strike a nerve somewhere down in the Imperial spellcaster. Atazos really wanted to see her angry, for some reason. |

Adventure Log Moira looked up from one of the books she had laying in front of her and gave Atazos a wondering look. "Gear-head? I beg your pardon?" she did not exactly know what Atazos had meant by that, but at least he had gotten her attention alright. She closed up one of the books and stood up from her seat. She then turned around to place the book back into the bookshelf behind the desk. "I sure hope that does not happen, as you said he is a good kid. No one deserves to die like that." she turned around again and sighed lightly but still kept a smile on her face. "And me thinking like that is most likely why I am here and not in the army." Workers came down one by one from the elevator, and Moira wrote down their time of leaving in the big book Atazos had written his name in before. There was also another book to the left of the big one that she quickly closed before Atazos could actually get a glimpse of what it was. She gave him a weak smile as if to say something along the lines of; it's private, so back off. Not that harsh of course, it seemed like she always tried to be nice for some reason. "Don't get me wrong, I would rather be here than training for war of course." there was no doubt in her words, and if there was she was hiding it well. But it made sense though, she did not look like someone who would be part of the army or at least not one who would fit very well there. She was too soft possibly. |

Atazos ignored the people coming off of the elevator and turned his body to face Moria and the desk. "You think any of that matters? That kid probably doesn't think anyone deserves to die either, but he's still at risk as long as he works on a ship flying the Imperial flag." He shook his head. "It's a big target to the other nations, I swear." Atazos let out a sigh though, seeing that 1) she was already a devout Imperialist and 2) he couldn't bring her blood to a boil with something as lightly charged as the death of a child. He decided to be done with it and just get on his way. "So where's my paycheck for today, Moria?"

Adventure Log Atazos last bit of words seemed to finally get to Moira though, as she looked up at him with a somewhat look on her face. She closed up the book hard and leaned over the desk closer to Atazos. "Don't you think I know that? However I can't do anything about that even if I wanted to, that is just the reality of things." she sighed a little, picked up the book and placed it back into the shelf behind her. As she turned back to Atazos she seemed to have realized something. "Ah, I see now." she laughed a little and shook her head. "It's because of this, right?" she pointed at the imperial emblem on her robes, before she picked up her own private book and walked around the desk up in front of Atazos. "Let me tell you, Atazos, that we are not all bad people wanting to take away everyone's freedom and have them killed in battle. Maybe you should not judge people so quickly if you don't want to be judged yourself." She gave him a smile, not one as kind like before though. of Without leaving her eyes off of him for even a second she slammed a pouch of gold pieces onto the desk right next to them. Moira then walked straight past him and went out through the gates where she waited for him to follow. "I need to close up for the day, so hurry!" she rushed him. |

The sight of her slamming her book closed tickled something inside his chest. It was a feeling that his attempt had been successful. She finally seemed to get why he was picking on her, but she still didn't seem to get his point of view. She thought that he was jumping to a false conclusion involving her moral choices, but it had nothing at all to do with that. He watched her get up from the desk and walk around, expecting her to give him a slap on the face for his troubles... but instead, she gave him the gold and, after a sadly misguided speech, walked out to the front gates. He shook his head again while wearing an amused smirk. He walked towards the gate and placed the bag of gold into his pocket with his stolen watch. As he came up to Moria, he leaned over and spoke quietly to her. "It doesn't matter what kind of a person you are or what your beliefs dictate. As long as you wear that symbol, they own you." He leaned back, looking his dead in the eyes for a few moments. He was silent and as cold as the wind and snow blowing around outside. Moria was a good person, he could see that, but she was under the control of the Empire. If they told her to jump, she would have to or face the consequences. He broke the eye contact with her and walked off, saying nothing. It was getting late and he needed a meal and a bed before things got too dark. |

Adventure Log Atazos follow Moira outside of the building shortly after and walked up to her. He spoke to her quietly as if to make sure no one else heard, even though there did not seem to be any one else around. His voice was cold, but the words he spoke were not one's unfamiliar to her. She knew about all that, anyone probably had enough brains to understand that. However she did not like to hear it and neither did she want to agree with it. It was true though, all of it, she more or less belonged to the empire. Moira looked away from Atazos and let out a sigh. She pulled out a key that was connected to a necklace around her neck and walked over to the wall next to the gate. There a small shutter door was placed about as high as to Moira's head. She put the key in keyhole and turned it in what seemed to be a sort of combination of turns to both left and right. The small door opened and revealed a mechanism which Moira quickly fiddled with before closing it up once again. Finally the gate of the north tower was closing itself and then locking with several steel bars. Most likely some kind of security system was turned on at the same time. "Well, it's not like I-" Moira started as she had just closed up the small door and was to turn around. Then she saw that Atazos was already on his way to where ever he was going. "Hey!" she yelled after him and stomped her right foot in the snow before running after him as quickly as she could. She was not sure exactly why she did, but there was something odd about him. Maybe it was not even that. She soon catched up to him. "Is that all? You were just going to say that and then leave?" she looked annoyed and like she had just been ripped off or something. Atazos was walking towards downtown, where he had seen an Inn, when he heard Moria yell at him from behind. He stopped and turned his head around to see her dashing towards him. He smirked and began to walk slowly, allowing her to catch up. As she got near him, he return to his normal pace. He smiled a bit as she spoke to him, obviously frustrated. "Sounded good to me. Not much else to add to my side of the debate, is there?" He put his hands in his pockets as he walked along the snowy path. After a little while, he stopped and turned towards her. "Well, shouldn't you be off to your cozy little home? No need in tagging along with a stray like me." He looked into her eyes, his smile gone. He wasn't be cold or showing any degree of self-pity - though the thought of a warm fire and a hot meal was antagonizing. He was just concerned and confused as to why she was following him. Perhaps he had left a bigger impression on her than he had thought. |

Adventure Log Moira had hoped to understand why she had rushed after him like she did when she actually caught up with him. Now that she stood there though there was still not much that came to her mind. There was something though, something she wanted to know more about, but she just couldn't put her finger on what. She did not answer Atazos at first, and instead look like she was actually trying to find words but they just didn't escape her mouth like they should have. Then he suddenly stopped and spoke to her once again. She hesitated a little. "W-Well..." she thought for a second, and realized that it had been clearly right in front of her all this time. She did not trust him, yet she wanted to know more. Strange. Just maybe, she thought to herself, just maybe she could make him tell her more about himself, and whoever he really was. "There is something I was wondering, something is bothering me." she began and moved her eyes away from Atazos. It looked like she was pondering hard, hesitating to say something else. "Food!" she said as she looked up at him like she had just realized something amazing. "I mean... Dinner, maybe you would like to have dinner at my- you know. As a apology for my outburst." she said and looked away. She did not completely make sense, but dinner was definietly something that got through at least. |

Atazos looked at her for a long moment as she hesitated. Something was up with the way she was acting. He was beginning to think that she was a little more than a simple Empire drone, but she had done nothing just yet to prove that to him. She seemed to have her doubts about her role as an Imperial pawn, but didn't have the drive or motivation to do anything about it. Empire paid well and made life easier for the people who fell into the mold laid out for them. At any time Atazos could have recanted on his pirate lifestyle and became a soldier, employing his experience with pirates to help rid the skies quite effectively. It was honestly very tempting, but he preferred a life of poverty and destitution over being another man's tool. When she mentioned taking him over to her house for some food, he raised an eyebrow. "Dinner?" A free meal that he didn't have to steal? This was something that he definitely could not turn down. He looked to the side a little, thinking to himself for a moment. If she brought him to her place, he might get too comfortable with her and end up telling her about his occupation - or lack thereof. If he let slide the fact that he was a pirate in a past life, she may have him thrown into prison... or he may have to do something to keep her quiet... but as he felt like refusing, the craziest of ideas came into his mind. Moria had obvious doubts about her path in life, he could tell this by the fact that she was still talking to him and not dismissing him as some pathetic street rat. She had a spark in her eyes and a whimsical feeling about her that was masked by her studious exterior. She wanted to be a good girl and wanted adventure... it was a shame that when the Empire was involved, there was no such thing as having both. Perhaps if he showed her that there were more options than maybe, just maybe, he could change her mind about being a part of the Imperial force. He smiled and nodded slowly, looking back into her eyes. "That's quite the offer. I humbly accept your generous invitation." He chuckled softly. "Where is your place from here?" He expected some kind of provided living quarters given to her by the Empire, but he could have been wrong. |

Adventure Log Moira looked back at Atazos, a little surprised that he did actually accept her invitation at all. She had been completely ready for rejection, and her surprise even shone through as she was trying to find words again, or rather her whole tongue. Finally though she nodded lightly and smiled warmly. "It's not very far, about ten minutes walking distance from here." she did not specify where exactly it was and instead tugged Atazos in the arm to follow her north from the tower. She did not say much more the rest of their trip. About ten minutes of walking later they had ended up on Moira's street. It was a litte above middle class street, with a combination of both new and old houses. It had become a lot darker now, and the street lights had been turned on making the snowy street and houses look much much nicer and welcoming. Moira stopped by one of the houses, one not very wide but had two floors, and walked up to the door. She picked up her key and unlocked the door, giving an encouraging motion with her hand to make Atazos come in with her. Inside the small hall Moira quickly pulled off her boots and walked into the living room that was the first room that was entered when exiting the hall. There was a old look couch as well as matching armchairs gathered around a small coffee table. There was a fire place in the far left of the room that was not lit at that moment. On the walls there were hanging several photos of people, probably relatives, as well as clocks and some paintings. Bookshelves where overrun by books, some placed on top of each other because there were no room for more of them. The ticking from the clocks gave the room a certain feel to it, kind of soothing somehow. Lastly there were stairs to the next floor if you walked straight forward from the hall, and to the right was a door to the kitchen area. Moira quickly picked up some things from the couch, something that looked like some kind of embroidery, and she pressed it against her chest to hide it. "I'll just go upstairs and get changed, will be back in a minute. Feel your self like home!" she walked up the stairs and left Atazos alone for a bit while she got changed. |
