Zafain stepped out of his shelter. Infront of him lay a giant wasteland of snow, with little to no visible vegetation, spare a few hardy plants whose very leaves were frozen solid by the icy wind that was blowing across the tundra. Looking back up at his shelter, it was now almost impossible to see any sign of life living here. The entirity of his home had been built under the ridge of a rocky overhang, built into a large dome over much time by stacking rocks and wood, all of which eventually became covered by snow, hiding any sign of life. Although, right now, it was especially invisible. With the strong winds blowing across the Tundra, it was obscured by a dazzling white sheet of a snow storm, spare the wooden door which itself would become covered in snow again in the next few minutes. Thinking this, Zafain closed the door; although covered in snow, the inside of his home was surprisingly dry. Several years inside a hole where the dripping is constant, you have plenty of time to fill in the roof using mud so that it never drips again. "Ridiculous... I should have just dug into a snow hole like other nomads" he thought to himself, tightening the furs around his silvery body, entirely invisible against the snow but otherwise covered by the furs and skins of animals he had hunted in the region over the years. Even now in the distance he could spot wild life moving along, skittering away from the winds before freezing. Now was not a time to go exploring, but when one is taken by wanderlust, it can be difficult to resist. Wrapping his gun in a fur to keep the barrel from accumulating ice, Zafain wandered in the direction of the city, as his wanderful heart desired. He knew not why to go there, only that he wanted to go there. Slinging his pack over one shoulder with one hand and holding his gun tightly in a fur with the other, he began to stride through the snow towards the imperial city. OOC

The fields of Asa Ounrota were particularly snow that day, making the visibility an issue, even to the eyes of the Novali. As the path winded on, the tracks in the snow disappearing from the snow re-burying them quickly, a strange shape appeared in the distance. It was large, but the exact shape was indiscernible. A few more feet ahead would likely reveal what the shape was, but there were many wild monsters out in the freezing tundra. This shape could have been any of them. There was plenty of room to easily go around it and continue on the path to the city though. It was up to Zafain. OOC

Zafain thought about the situation briefly; he had furs on him, keeping him warm, and he had plenty enough food to get him to the city. Although he was fairly certain of what was lurking infront of him, there was no point taking a risk when he had nothing to gain; killing for sport is something he avoids, for when you live among the very beasts your hunting, you learn to respect them. Choosing the simple option, Zafain roots round the object, heading straight for the city. |

The object in the snowy distance did not move, either being nothing but an inanimate object or just not aware of the Novali's presence. As Zafain walked around, the object faded from view again and was replaced with white, falling snow all around. This was the last significant encounter on his trip, the route ahead filled only with ice, snow, and the occasional rock. The gates of Asharei were ahead, nothing but some guards in the way. It seemed the two guards on duty that day were not in the mood for harassing simple travelers or searching them over, especially not a fellow Novali. They went on with business as usual, ignoring Zafain and letting him go onto the city if he wanted to. |
