The cracking from the loud speaker brought Jaz out of her little mediation induced trance. She didn't feel much different, besides the fact she was more relaxed. Was that it? She expected something more cool to happen. Oh well maybe she didn't do it right or something. Jaz arched and cracked her back and a satisfying Pop was heard. She felt for her gun, good it was still resting on her hip. Her gun was a good boy, but he didn't have a name. It felt weird to be without her sword but her gun would do that job. She doubled checked her room for any stray supplies but found none. She grabbed her gear and rushed to the top deck. She stood on the main deck and looked for either the girl she saw from earlier or Kalir. Jaz was hoping she would find Kalir. |

Adventure Log On board the deck, what looked to be the entire crew was present, minus the captain and one other person. Kalir was standing near the entrance to the lower deck, his shirt now on, but still not buttoned up all the way - not much minding how the chilly wind was making the cloth billow. The man from the sofa stood twirling his hefty gun in one hand and weighing what appeared to be a make-shift grenade in the other. The girl in blue stood near the door to the captain's quarters, holding a rifle across her chest. There were a few other faces that Jaz had not yet spoken with including the Novali engineer, another human male with short, blond hair, and a short, remarkably pretty Asalin female dressed in greyish robes. The girl in blue looked about, an annoyed look on her face. "... Where's Tatiana?" The others shrugged kind of nonchalantly, looking rather lazy for a crew of pirates. Just as the girl in blue growled, the sound of foot steps echoed up the stairs from the lower deck. A tall, lean girl in a black coat emerged from the lower deck, her large, heavy boots causing her steps to be heard well even with the wind blow past everyone's ears. She had faint brown skin, looking remarkably well-tanned, a nose that ended in a cute sort of flatness at the end, and pointed ears that poked just past her long, black hair. If these were a good enough hint, from her shoulder sported several spikes that her clothing had been ripped to accommodate for - another telltale sign of a member of the Dourian race. Her thin glasses fell short of twin red eyes that leered lazily at the crew as she lugged her simply massive rifle case on her back. She yawned, stretching a little, before talking. "Hnn... What? What is it?" The girl in blue gritted her teeth, more than a little annoyed by this entrance. "Were you just asleep, Tatiana?" The girl clenched her fist and waved it at the Dourian woman. "You could have slept past the raid! What if we needed you!? A good team always takes resposiblity and-" The blue's clad girl's speech was cut off as the door from the Captian's door opened, catching her attention. Out stepped both Captain Nrealo and a short, Novali male carrying a bundle of maps. The captain stood in the middle of the deck. He looked at the crew, his eyes stopping on Jaz for a second and then scanning the rest. "Good to see you all ready to go. First Mate Owen has show that this location is a short distance away from the interception point of the trade vessel Gloria, our target. I just wanted to remind everyone staying sharp is staying alive. I want to comeout of this with as few injuries as possible, for our dear medic's sake." He nodded over in the direction of the Asalin girl, who blushed a little and nodded. "Not to mention, stitches aren't cheap. Whatever you grab on the trade vessel is to be put into the pile on our ship. If there's something that you find that you want in particular, speak up and we'll run it through a vote. the rest gets dived up to the entire crew." Just as he stopped, the first mate pulled out a spyglass and looked on the horizon. He smiled a bit, speaking in a thick, Novago accent "Captain, we have got something on the edge of the world. Looks big enough to be the ship... I think... I see props moving. It is likely the Gloria." The captain nodded and clapped his hands twice. "Alright, people, battle stations." |

Jaz saw Kalir near the entrance to the lower deck. Unfortunately his shirt was back on she noted. But the wall of people between them made it hard for to get over so she just remained in place. She heard the girl in blue ask where someone was. How could someone notice someone was gone with all of these people on the deck? Then again she supposed with a large crew and being in a position of power that you had to know everyone. Something she made a note to remember if she ever got into a higher rank or became Captain of her own vessel. Still with each passing day she was finding her little mutinous spirit declining. Jaz turned to here the boot steps. Dang someone walked pretty loudly if they could be heard from all the way up here, must be Tatiana. Jaz eyed the Dourian curiously. So this was a Dourian the fabled Demon-Human hybrid. The only way a Demon could reproduce, that well legends and whatever said. She wasn't a Demon and she wasn't exactly sure how that worked either. Not something that came up, but all she knew was that it was impossible for two demons to make another demon..well that way. However she looked at the glasses curiously they seemed a bit odd. Jaz listened to the Dourian get scolded by the girl in blue. She couldn't help but fell sympathy for the Dourian and not just because both of them had some Demon blood in them. Jaz was going to take a nap herself, thankfully Kalir's mediation had given her the rest and relaxation she needed without the danger of falling asleep. Still the girl in blue had a point. Jaz watched the Captain emerge from the office with his little assistant or whatever. She felt his eyes pierce back at hers. She was still a bit angry that he had wanted to keep her from the raid but still the more she thought about it the more realized that he actually was looking out for her. As he said his speech she was sure of it. Jaz took a notice of the medic, she was rather cute. And she had to suppress an "Aww" as she saw the thing blush. However this dividing up of treasure concerned her. Something that she had never heard of before and to think such a thing would be stupid. Still she kinda liked it she guessed. Though that might mean while she would get a share that she wouldn't get anything cool she found. And she was subject to approval by her peers here, and since she was a newbie she bet she would get the short end of the stick in here claims. Terrific just terrific. Jaz shook her head and rushed off to her battle station. |

Adventure Log As far as it could be inferred, battle stations meant that the medic and engineer would go down into the ship while the others remained topside. The first mate stood near the helm with his spy glass out, scanning the edge of sight with the tiny device. The pilot had kicked the engines back on and was steering the wheel to plot a new course. Sofa man, Kalir, the blonde male, and the captain remained on the main deck, weapons drawn (the blonde man holding a fairly large cleaver), ready for engagement with the ship. Tatiana lazily strolled over to the end of the ship, setting down her rifle case and opening it. She pulled out several long pieces of what looked to be pipes and began to assemble something at a lax pace. It seemed like the crew was finally about to engage the target ship. But a look on the first mate's face said something was wrong... he frowned, peering through the spyglass a bit longer. He then lowered it, slowly looking over to Nrealo. "C-captain!" Captain Nrealo looked over at the first mate. "Huh? What is it, Owen?" The Novali man opened his mouth to talk, stopped, double checked through the spy glass, and then looked back at the captain. "Not... an airship." The captain looked at the Novali with a strange expression, as did the pilot. He marched over to the stairs, up to the helm area, and grabbed the spyglass from the man's hand. He looked through for a moment, his confused look turning into one of worry... and then one of shock. He collapsed the spyglass, shoved it back into Owen's hands and looked the the pilot. "Turn this thing around!" He grabbed the mic on the helm and shouted something in a foreign language down to the crew in the ship. Captain Nrealo looked out on the crew, who was looking at him with some confusion at this point. He ran down the steps, sword still draw. "It's a Roc! A big one!" The others wore varied looks, Sofa guy scratching his head, Kalir frowning a little, the blonde guy flat out panicking and running around like he was on fire, and Tatiana acting like she didn't even hear it, still assembling something at a lackadaisical pace. Sofa man spoke up. "A what now?" The blonde guy stopped running and looked at him with wide, fear filled eyes. "Really big bird!" |

"How the hell did you mistake an airship for a giant fucking bird?" thought Jaz. Jaz looked around and wondered what she should do. Things seemed to be in chaos more or less a the moment. At she wasn't the only one who was not sure what to do. Shoot at the bird? No her pistol would be next to useless at this range. The only thing she could do is wait. "So don't we have like canons to deal with shit like this? Maybe we should use them just saying" said Jaz to nobody in particular. |

Adventure Log The ship began to lean a little as the pilot girl spun the wheel, the rudder turning completely to try and redirect the flow of air, the propellers turning a little to push the ship forward as a new angle, and the stabilizers tilting to add a little extra spin on the rotation. In what seemed to be a near physics defying stunt, the ship had done a complete 180 degree turn and was now speeding along in the opposite direction of the Roc. The first mate was watching nervously through the spyglass, his the sound of metal on metal being heard as he tapped the ring on his finger against the brass tube. The pilot bite her tongue, in the zone as she piloted the ship as well as she could, using the airflow of a slightly downward angle to try and increase the speed to evade the monster. The first mate shook his head. "No good. Big bird is flying fast. It will catch us." The girl gripped the handle of the wheel, obviously trying to think of something to do fast. The captain was holding on to the railing, trying to keep from losing his balance with the titling ship. Sofa man was handing on to one of the ropes that attached the ship to the balloon over head. Kalir was standing watching the dot on the horizon as he kept his balance on the shifting ground pretty effortlessly. Tatiana's case was sliding around the ground, but she was fine, picking parts out of it when it passed by and adding them to the thing she was building. Sofa man looked over to Jaz, hearing her talking over the roar of the engines. "Yeah, but that's all Donovan's work. We're going to have to shoot at it." The blonde man ran around, still panicking. "Oh my Goddesses, oh my Gods. I don't have a gun! I don't have a gun! I'm so going to die!" He stopped, looked around, and then a light bulb went off. "Oh! I know!" He ran off across the deck and down the steps, disappearing into the ship. Sofa man looked at him as he ran off. "What the- Where are you going!?" The sound of distant flapping could be heard, great beats in the air as the dot had grown into the image of a bird in the distance. It was obvious that the thing was huge, letting out a caw that echoed across the sky. The captain eyed the beast as it got closer, not really too worried, but rather determined looking, like a runner right before the gun was fired to start the race. |

"Eeep" thought Jaz as she nearly lost her footing as the ship continued to tilt. Her least favorite part about being on an airship was probably this. Unexpected turblance etc. Sofa man did have a point that they should shoot at it themselves kinda I mean it wouldn't hurt but it seemed a bit crazy and that the bullets would do much against the giant thing and it would get angry. She still figured situations like this were exactly what canons were built for. But they were probably too slow for the Roc. Fine for combating an airship as they were bulky and movement was always clunky. But this was a giant bird it was more graceful and stuff with its movements. Jaz looked a bit concerned as the first mate retreated and like sofa man was curious to where he was going. But still she figured that if everyone on the deck worked together and they had the heavy fire support of the canon. They should be able to deal with the Roc with minimal causalities. If she was an optimist she would of said no casulities but she was being real. It would not be so wrong to expect someone to die. She watched the beast come closer and took out her pistol. Would it be very effective against the Roc? She had no idea, but it was better then just standing around like an idiot or hiding while everyone else got slaughtered. She figured it would at least distract the bird so Dourian or the canons could fuck it up. |

Adventure Log The first mate had put away his scope, no longer needing it to see the Roc at the distance it was at. He pulled a knife out from his belt, the Novali man gritting his teeth and leering at the thing. "If giant bird want to attack my ship, she will have to go through me!" He gripped the knife hard, the leather creaking a bit in his tight grasp. The pilot nodded to herself as she heard him talk. "Don't do anything stupid, Owen. I won't let feather-head touch our girl." Kalir had pulled his arms into the sleeves of his shirt and pushed them through the front, causing the baggy, loose material to fall around his waist and hang on via the belt that had kept hit closed. He put his right fist in his left hand, closed his eyes for a moment, and then opened them, taking a deadly looking stance, his muscles glimmering in the sun. Sofa man looked over at him, shaking his head. "You're really a showoff, sometimes, Kalir." The monk nodded, a smile on his face. "Coming from you, Lukas, I will take that as a compliment." They both chuckled, Lukas, the Sofa man, aiming his gun at the creature as it came closer. Tatiana, who was not far away, seemed pretty indifferent to it all, yet again. She had successfully built a pretty big something in front of her, the exact shape of whatever it was not really distinct enough to determine. Whatever it was, no one seemed to be bothering her about it. Captain Nrealo stood, weighing his sword thoughtfully, the gears obviously turning in his mind as he watched the beats get closer. The Roc, in full view, was a large bird, its wingspan easily forty feet wide; as wide as the ship's deck was long. It was rather haggard looking up close, blood streaming down one side of it's face. The thing had been in a fight recently, and had taken a significant beating. Testament to this was a long sword sticking out from the bird's thick neck, blood still freshly coated along the silvery steel. Across its back, a few arrows had been stuck in it. Whatever its last prey had been did not go down without a fight. The thing was obviously enraged, a look of pure hatred in its deep, red eyes. It let out a shrieking caw that shook everyone on the ship except Tatiana and Kalir, one in their own little world and the other so psyched up that he actually roared back at it with his own battle cry. "WAAAAAHG!"

Jaz pulled out her own pistols and did her best to aim that at the Roc. The thing looked bad, and dangerous. Not to mention big. Jaz swallowed the lump of fear in her neck, she could do it she had her crew supporting her and everything was going to be fine. She fired her pistol at the Roc, doing her best to hit the thing. She knew it wouldn't be easy since it was flying and moving. Moving targets were one thing, and flying targets were another, they had two new directions in which they could dodge your shot. However once the Roc let out its powerful cry and caused Jaz to land butt first onto the deck, she was afraid again of the Roc and its apparent power. Hm, she certainly had a lot to learn before becoming a Captain herself, maybe serving on a crew for awhile would be a good thing. She just needed to make sure she didn't become too attached to her current crew mates. The thing was that she would certainly outlive all of them biologically (barring she didn't die here or from any other wound inflicted during combat etc.) due to her being a demon and everyone else seemed mostly human. Not to mention she couldn't form her own crew if she was part of a crew already, well she could but she doubted she would get many people to join in on a mutiny. But these were thoughts for later, right now she had a giant bird to fight. Jaz pulled herself back onto her feet and tried to find the bird again. |

(OOC: Due to the damage switch over as well as the general way stats are calculates, I switched the HP and general stats of the Roc to something else. I'm not going to reveal them, but I will say that as they were before, this would not be a fun fight at all.) >>Jaz's shot hits! 1d8 + 6d6 damage. Result: 2, 2, 6!, 4, 1, 5, 8. Reroll: 5. Total: 33 Damage Jaz's shot was far more powerful than she could have expected. The confidence inspired by the crew, specifically the Captain's valiant aura, gave her the focus to hit the beast directly in its wounded eye! The monstrous bird gave out a colossal streak of pain just before a second shot fired from Lukas' gun came. >> Lukas deals 31 damage His shot is slightly less effective, but only slightly so as the powerful gunfire grazes the beast's wing, taking off a chunk of feathers in a bloody puff. Kalir's attack follows, the man tensing up his body, his tattoos glowing as his body burns with some sort of mystical energy. The captain, too seems to be biding his time, his eyes narrow as he clutches his sword in anticipation. The first mate, Owen, is by his side, but his foot propped at the edge of the ship, as if ready to leap at the beast from the rails to over the thousand foot drop below. Another shot came from behind Jaz as the pilot had gotten a hold of a rifle and fired a shot of her own at the winged beast. >>Pilot deals 22 damage Tatiana seemed to be done as she turned, holding her creation in her arms and aiming it down the length of the deck at the monster Roc. She smiled as she stared down the barrel of a gigantic rifle, several lenses along the weapon allowing her to zoom in as far as she wished and land a shot where she chose. She pulled back the cocking mechanism and pulled the trigger, the weapon firing with an intense force that shook the deck and a flash that would nearly blind anyone who looked at it directly. >Tatiana deals 79 damage The Roc's body was hit directly by the shot, the bullet ripping a hole into the monsterous bird, and leaving a gap large enough to see though as the bullet continued to fly as if the beast wasn't even there. The creature's wings stopped flagging as it rag dolled and began to drop, his might body leaving massive feathers floating downward as it plummeted to the planet below. |
