Vitalli started to pull herself up with all her might. She hoped that she could pull herself up before something from the water tried to pull her down.. but at least if it did, she had one last line of defense. Her shield of bones. She did not wish to use it if she did not have to, but the idea sat there in the back of her mind as a last resort. She knew it would most likely scare off the serpha if she did cast such a spell, so she concentrated on climbing the rope instead.

As the motes of light floated around her, threatening her with their shrill voices, she yelled back, just as fiercely "YOU drown. I plan on living. I don't think you would be near this persistent if there weren't a way to escape, and if there is a way to escape, I WILL find it. You are Nothing compared to what I have faced before."

She was not quite as confident as she made herself out to be, but the swamp siren didn't need to know that. She would put on as confident and serious an air as possible, and maybe, just maybe, that might give the creature pause.

Vitalli pulled, and so did Gurnashka as well. With all her might she pulled the rope and saw how her master was coming closer and closer to the edge where she was standing. As the Asalin yelled at the light creatures they were beginning to go at them both more agressivly, yelling back for the most part completely impossible to understand. They tugged harder on Vitalli's clothes and attacked Gurnashka even more violently than before. "Let her go!!" they yelled loudly into her ears, but she only continued to pull harder to get the Asalin up from the water.

Eventually the both had managed to pull Vitalli close enough to the edge for Gurnashka to reach out her hand and pull her out of the water. "Are you alright, mi lady?" she quickly said while the siren lights continued to attack, yell at them both and pull them down again at the same time. "We should hurry, before more of them arrive and actually manage to pull us down! Follow me!" she pulled out her hunting knife before she turned and ran and tried to swat the lights away with it. They disappeared for a brief moment but quickly reappeared again. Better than nothing.

Vitalli unconsciously put her hand to her necklace as she caught her breath.

"I am fine. Let's go."

and with that she followed the serpha, running as fast as she could to try and keep up with her. She paid no mind to her drenched clothes. The dress was already in tatters, a little mud and water weren't going to harm it. However, it did reassure her greatly that her Scythe and necklace were still with her.

As she ran from the wisps, she wondered whether they were part of a larger collective, or if they were independent creatures. A silly musing, but an interesting one, at least. One to keep her distracted. She would ask Gurnashka later, when they were no longer running for their lives. Maybe she would know.

The wisps followed them closely as they ran as fast as they could through the swamp woods. Their voices grew louder and louder making the ground they stood on shake and the waters around them boil. They were not used to being rejected once they had claimed someone, which only served to make them angrier and behave rather unusual from what they usually did. Not even Gurnashka herself had seen them this furious before.

They reached the end of the forest and as soon as they stepped outside the shaking and the yelling stopped. As they looked back they could see the wisps gathering together, flying around like they were waiting for them both to return. Thankfully the small creatures could not follow them any longer than that, and the asalin and the serpha were now safe for now.

Gurnashka breathed heavily and tried to settle down a bit from the running. She chuckled a bit and patted Vitalli on the back. "We... We can't remember the last time we had to run for my life. Certainly a thrilling start to our adventures, don't you think, mi lady?" she said and seemed rather amused by what had happened. As she was a warrior it was not a surprise that she enjoyed a good old adrenaline rush.

Vitalli breathed heavily, leaning on her knees momentarily for support as she caught her breath. "Yes.. it was quite exhilarating, to say the least. I'm glad my lack of jumping skills could bring us some sport." She straightened back up and grinned merrily.

When she looked back, she noted that the wisps were moving no farther "Why is that?" she muttered to herself, then to Gurnashka, "So are those creatures of one mind, or of many? hmm. And why is it that they seem to not be able to move any further?"

She let out a small sigh of relief. Whatever the reasons the serpha may give, she was just glad they were out of there. It occurred to her that, at some point, they might have to go back past it to get out of the swamps, but she brushed that thought off. Now was the time for adventure, and for finding her revenge. Out of habit, Vitalli made a quick sweep for dead wildlife, expecting not to find much stupid enough to have wandered this close to that swamp. But still, old habits die hard.

"So. Onward?"

Gurnashka looked back at the swarm that was furiously trying to follow them. "Strange creatures they are, and it is true, they are all of one mind. They can't travel outside of the march woods because they are of the woods themselves." she said and looked back at Vitalli "Some say the woods themselves are these creatures try to feed. Who knows what they really are though, I can not tell." The Serpha did obviously not know enough of the creature nor the woods to tell what these creatures were. However from what she told Vitalli it did not seem like many others, if anyone, knew either. One of the many mysteries of the swamp.

The warrior sheathed her hunting dagger and nodded to Vitalli. "Yes, let's get us moving, the worst part is behind us now." The two of them quickly got going again on their journey toward the Serpha's holy ground.

Vitalli nods, and continues forward. She stays mostly silent for the rest of the walk to the shrine, keeping her eyes and ears out for any more dangers. It is not a mean or awkward silence, just one of concentration. While the scenery is quite interesting to the Asalin, she is more than eager to reach this shrine, and preferably in one piece.
