A feeling of retribution

When Atazos had eaten up his food, Moira did still have quite a bit left on her plate. She seemed to be working around the black edges of her cooking and did obviously not enjoy her own creation as much as Atazos had done. She was just about to put another fork of food into her mouth when he began to speak again. She stopped before she could take a bite and put the fork down on the plate. She raised an eye brow and smiled.

"The 'plan' for tomorrow, as you put it, is to work as usual. And as you said I guess you should too." she said with a half smile and began to fiddle with her fork in the food on the plate. For a couple of seconds she sat there with her mouth open as if she was about to say something, and then let out a short sigh. "It is very nice of you, Atazos, but I don't think you should go spend the little money that you have on me. Don't get me wrong, I would love to go out and do something together... but you shouldn't have to pay." she continued and leaned backwards in her chair. Although she had already given Atazos a lot, she did not seem like she wanted to have anything in return.

His host seemed to have something on her mind. The fact that she had been doing so much for him was starting to set off red flags in his mind. She didn't ask anything in return, but he felt indebted to her. That was a feeling he hated having. But she was right. Atazos needed the money and if she was willing to pay for things, he would have the opportunity to save up for what he really desired. "Moira, thank you. For everything. I'm going to go to bed now... to rest up for work."

He looked at her for a long few moments. "You know... if you need anything else from me, I'm still in debt to you for everything you've done for me. Don't hesitate to ask something."

Moira rolled her eyes a bit and shook her head before standing up from the chair to pick up the plates from the table. She cleaned of the table and stacked up the dishes on top of each other, and as she was on her way to the kitchen she stopped in front of Atazos and smiled. "I am glad that you want to repay me, but I am sure that will come with time so there is really no reason to rush anything. Besides your company is more than enough for now, Atazos." she said and then suddenly grabbed hold of the Novali's shirt collar and kissed him. "Also..." she continued softly as she let go "You worry too much." with that she patted him lightly on the chest and continued into the kitchen.

This. All of the things that had happened since Atazos began working at the north ship tower had been a rather strange but for the most part pleasant experience. He had gotten a roof over his head, a warm bed and most of all a beautiful woman as his host. From being a homeless nothing on the streets of the imperial capital to this was surely something he had not expected just a few days ago. He had been lucky to say the least.

Atazos was a little surprised at the kiss, his face heating up a little as hers came close to his and her lips pressed to his own. After a moment, when she let him go, he looked at her for a little longer and smirked a tiny bit. She had surprised him with her boldness. Something about the Novali girl had always made him think that she was timid. Moments like what had just happened made him wonder if there was a whole side of her under the shy exterior that he couldn't see before.

The sky pirate nodded in response to her words. "I'll stop worrying so much, if that's what you want. Thank you again." He smiled at her once more before disappearing up into his bedroom. Once there, he hung up the nice clothes and slipped into the bed in only his underclothes. He fell asleep thinking about how well things had been going recently and what deity had smiled on him to make certain that his path was so fruitful.

Atazos slept well that night. It was a night of few dreams and luckily the ones that did turn up were pleasant ones.

As he woke up in the morning he wasn't woken up by the sound of the snow storm outside like he usually did. His luck seemed to continue as this was apparently a day of light snow and not a lot of wind. Once he had gotten up and dressed himself he noticed that he once again was alone in the house. Moira had already left early it seemed, but on the table she had left a plate of bread and cold cuts. Apparently they were for him too by the looks of the note Moira had left. "Eat up!" it said with some kind of smiling character drawn beside it.

Once again Moira had done a lot more than she had to do for him. However she was not there and the gesture had already been made, so it was not like he could really do anything about it. He had to gladly accept the breakfast that had been put before him no matter what, or at least that was the most sensible to do. After breakfast Atazos walked out into the streets again, and just as when he had woken up the weather was a lot better than it had been the last couple of days. It was actually what most people in Asharei would call a nice day.

Walking down the now much more familiar path he once again found himself at the north ship tower, and per usual Moira was sitting by the receptionist counter deep in her books. As Atazos approached she looked up from the books and smiled that warm smile that only she could give. "Slept well and fit for work again?" she said.

The morning, from waking up to the gently falling snow outside the window to the food laid out for him, had gone smoothly. From one step to the next, his waking routine sped by like a well oiled machine. In no time, he was fed, clothed, and out the door. As he stood on the front door to the North Ship Tower, Atazos reflected on the morning and it all felt like a dream at how fleeting it felt. Perhaps it was because Moira was out of the house, but nothing in the place stood to draw his attention too much as he got ready.

Once at the ship tower, he angled for the lift up to the top, but stopped when Moira addressed him. He turned to her and smiled in return. "Oh, hello, Moira. Yes I did. And I'm well fed, thanks to a certain someone." He winked at her. The Sky Pirate pulled out his stolen pocket watch, noting the time before dropping it back into his deep pocket. "I'd love to stay and talk, but I need to get to work if I want a decent amount of coin for the day. I'll see you around after work."

He gave her a little wave before getting on the lift and hitting the button that started the steam powered mechanics that made the lift move him up the tower. He was expecting to meet the crew that he worked along side the past few days before. The work would be hard, but just seeing the ships would sate his lust for being a part of an actual ship crew... at least for now. And he'd walk away from the work with a good amount of gold that would go towards his ultimate goal.
