There are many creatures that inhabit the land of Lothien but only a few would be considered sentient. Among them are the races of the Melkvavian Empire, the Tuetos, the Crimians, the Vialteltec, the Thoranians and the Delvonians. Tuetos: The Tuetos are the northern tribes of humans on Lothien. They are fairly tall, pale individuals and possess hair colors ranging from brown to ginger to golden blonde and eyes that are usually a shade of brown or hazel. Over their time in empire citizenry they have lost their ancient tribal ways with the exception of a few rights reserved for them in the Empire. These rights include the Thing which is a sort of tribal court. Trial by combat, dueling and the like are all very much alive traditions in Skavungurd. They favor martial prowess. Crimians: The original race of the empire, the Crimians are Human, like the Tuetos but they are more diplomatic and less warrior-like then them. They are shorter, tanner and often times have dark skin and eyes though light skin and eyes is also common. They are strong crafters and traders and are hardy warriors, though many have grown weak on the milk of the Golden Ages. They build large stone and marble temples to the gods and goddesses and revere the Emperor as a living god, though they do not force these beliefs on the other peoples of the empire. They are jack of all trades type people. Vialteltec: The Vialteltec are a tribalistic people, primitive in some ways such as using very little in the way of metal due to its scarcity in the steamy jungles of their native lands. The Vialteltec are a race of feline bipedal sentients, standing normally around six and a half feet tall and possessing of a cruel cunning. They can come in a variety of browns and tans for fur color and many 'royal' tribes come in yellow with black spots. The are very in tune with the spiritual world and the ability to commune with spirits is often seen as a right of passage. They are exceptionally trained with Spiritual magic. Thoranians: The Thoranians are a race of bipedal, reptilian humanoids. They often possess frills, horns and feathery adornations on their skulls. They have tough, resilient scaley skin that provides natural armor. They have a highly rigid caste system society where one is born into the Ruling, Priest, Warrior or Peasant class. Though this system has been legally abolished by the Melkavian Empire, such roots are deep and the Thoranians aren't keen on giving them up. They are strong swimmers, swimming in a similar manner to that of a crocodile. Their society is based heavily upon respect and reverence and they are often seen as very socially proper and upstanding. Their priests are priests of nature, focussing on the natural elements and how to keep everything in harmony. They are good with Natural and Destructive magic. Delvonians: The Delvonians are a race of greenskinned, tusked humanoids who stand well over seven feet tall on average. Though physically imposing and possessing great strength, the Delvonians are oft more then not a jolly, genial race and very easy going. They are great traders and crafters, selling their highly prized work across the empire. Their society is that of business, work and trade with little regard for violence, though that doesnt stop many bandits or more violent types from popping up occasionally. They are natural people-persons and traders. --------- Other sentient but none citizen races include beastmen called Rashek and semi sentient or believed to be sentient creatures such as giants, trolls, ogres and dragons. Rashek: Little is known about the Rashek, mostly because any person interested enough in them to try to contact them is brutally slaughtered or taken captive. What little information the people of Lothien (and indeed the scribes of this chronicle) have gathered is from eye witness reports by survivors of raids that the Rashek have conducted. Reports show them as hulking, monstrous beasts, about ten feet tall, covered in matted, dirty brown fur with large, snarling mouths and tusks. They are usually equipped with crude, stone, bone and iron weapons and armor, often times nailed to their hides in a grisly manner. Some reports also include that in the mist behind their lines, smaller, slender almost human figures with animal features such as fur, tails and the like have been spotted directing the larger beasts. Giants: Giants are, as their name suggests, rather large beings, standing around twenty feet tall on average. They have broad proportions, stony grey skin that is as hard as a boulder, dull brown or grey eyes and usually clad in very little, usually fur from their large bovines. There are two tribes of giants. The Giants of the north, which are fierce and barbaric, known for killing villages on a whim, and the tribes of the south who are more peaceful herders so long as no one troubles their flock. Trolls: Trolls are beings of large stature, ten feet tall, and of a thick, rocky build. The trolls have rough skin that has bulges almost akin to rocks on the outermost layer. These 'rocks' provide a layer of defense against the pressure of their mating rituals, which normally involve the males ramming one another with their chests out in order to prove who is dominant. Trolls are hardy but very dim witted, oft times being too dumb to use much more then a large branch as a tool. Dragons: Edited by High Lord Zakary, Nov 27 2011, 10:04 PM.
