I know we chatted somewhere about this show.... It is coming back to TLC!

I loved this show.

The show i really miss was on the BBC network and they did a surprise backyard makeover. I cannot remember the name of it for the life of me!

Would you be on one of these shows?

I don't remember the name of that BBC show either, but we loved it. I remember there was a rather"well-endowed" woman on it who was always braless. DH lovingly referred to her as "Titty Woman."

They are playing reruns tonight.

The British version was called Changing Rooms.

Yes, no more Hildy.

Annoying, little twerp.
I liked...Vern? I think was his name. He always had clean, normal designs.

That old guy always did cheap-looking country designs. Frank, I think.

Then you had the pompous asshole. Doug, maybe. He thought he was hot shit even though his designs were completed shit.

Hildy was the female version of Doug.

I can’t remember the other people.

If at first you don't succeed, skydiving is not for you.

I used to watch the show awhile back. One of my friend's favorite designers at the time was Vern Yip.

When I found out he was having a Meet and Greet at a local furniture store, I took her there. We stood in line, and when it was our turn, my friend was so awestruck and tongue-tied all she could do was grin. I spoke with Vern and told him how much we enjoyed the show. He was very friendly, personable and looked exactly like he did on the show at that time. We took a photo with him and I still have that photo today.

I am looking forward to watching the re-boot. I also remember Changing Rooms.

I liked Trading Spaces in the early years but, as time went on, it seemed some of the designers were in it to out-do others for the most "out there" design with no regard for the needs, wants, or wishes of the people who had to live in the space. Hildy and Doug were the worst of the bunch.

I stopped watching it after the show where Mrs. Homeowner could be heard sobbing off camera after seeing her re-designed (family?) room.

If that's what the show is going to be like when it comes back, I won't watch it for long. It's not fun to see homeowners putting in the time and being excited about what their room would look like only to dislike, or downright hate, the re-designed room.

Hildy and stupid ass straw glued to the wall! I would have lost it on her.

The early shows were good but the ones toward the end were just too bizarre for me.

I wasted so many hours in my 20s watching Trading Spaces.

I don't have cable now but I loved that show!

Genevieve always had some really great ideas, though she could be hit or miss. She seemed like a blast to work with, though.

Who was the designer with the curly red hair? She was the one who did the contemporary brown living room that made the woman cry.

I think i liked "While You Were Out" a little better, since there was less chance of the people despising the room and the unsuspecting recipient usually got to do something really fun.

Right? In a house with a toddler, who you know would be ripping that shit out by the handful. My BFF and I used to always watch together, and when we saw that, all we could think about was how awful it was going to look covered in dust in a few months. It would be impossible to keep that clean.

We used to call Doug's designs Doug-ugly, or just Dougly. He was the worst to me, because he really didn't seem to care if anything was practical. He did a kitchen once for a family of 5, and put in this tiny table and chairs set that only seated 4. The people walked into the room, and the woman was literally speechless. I think she might have cried, too. The only way I'd want to be on that show would be if I could be sure I wouldn't get Doug or Hildy. Frank's designs were fun, but definitely not to everyone's taste. Genevieve Gorder did some nice things, but Vern was definitely the best of them. I only have basic cable, so I won't get to watch the new ones for a while.

The redhead was Laurie somebody. She did mid- century modern designs.
Doug did the living room that made the poor woman cry. They asked for the brick fireplace to be left alone and he covered it with painted wood.
Unless there was more than one off camera crying episode.

I liked the early shows best. Even Doug wasn't completely whacko then. Hated nearly all of Hildy's designs.

Looks like they'll both be back for the reboot.

I loved Trading Spaces! I'm really glad Paige Davis is coming back as host. My favorite designers are Vern and Laurie. Genevieve had some good stuff and Hildy and Doug were just insane. Frank was forgettable.

I could have sworn that Genevieve did the straw on the walls, but I've been wrong before. Remember the room Hildy designed with the furniture bolted to the ceiling? I vividly remember the woman who hated brown, shoved her friend and ran off crying. Also, the family who ended up with wine bottle labels all over their kitchen and the husband was a pastor whose church decried the consumption of alcohol.

Frank seemed like a fun little old guy. He was mostly country, right? So you might have to remove a rooster or two afterward, but at least you don't have a mosaic of Hildi's face on your wall.

I understand trying to trust the designers, but I just don't get how or why neighbors would do some of those things to each others' homes. You have to know gluing straw to the wall is a crappy thing to do.

I forgot about the room filled with sand! I would murder someone.

I thought the brown room for the brown-hating woman was really mean. Murder, again. ;)

I only every liked Vern and the redheaded woman's designs. The rest of them were terrible. I would never be on that show just because unless you get the two I meantioned above then it means you're basically signing up to have a room in your house destroyed.

Laurie! She did amazing bedrooms.

I hope Amy Wynn comes back as one of the carpenters. I liked her. I liked Ty Pennington, too, but I don't know if he'd come back.

Didn't Vern get in trouble for not staying under budget and not admitting to it? It seemed like the other designers called BS on him doing some of his stuff under budget when the products used alone cost more than the budget.

Nope, I'm with you. I never liked or understood the show, it seems almost mean and could really destroy neighbor relations not to mention destroying a room.
