Has anyone who is short rented a formal dress from RTR?? I'm 5' and am trying to figure out if this will work for me or if I need to stick with purchasing a dress and then having it shortened. The dress from RTR that I really want will be too long unless I wear 8" heels!! Dress |

Never used them. At $100+ couldn't you buy a dress at Dillards/Macys on sale? |

My sisters rented dresses for pre-wedding and wedding festivities 6 years ago. I don't know the process works, exactly but they were sent a couple of GORGEOUS designer dresses and wore whichever one they liked best. The dresses fit them beautifully, too. |

I want to say they send you/you could use hemming tape. There are also dresses with the "short" option. (ETA: That one has the petite option, but only for certain sizes )Also, if you haven't rented before, I can send you a referral code

I rent from RTR fairly regularly. I am 5'5", so neither short nor tall. There are dresses that could work (petite). The comments often are very helpful to determine how the dress will fall. There are some temporary hemming measures that also can be taken. Some people talk about that as well. I have rented three floor-length gowns from RTR and purchased another from their clearance sale. |

Yes, I’m 5’4” and I’ve used them, but for shorter dresses. The description of the dress includes the length so you could measure with a heel height you’d be wearing. But that dress is recommended for 5’2-5’6 in the regular length. I stick with dresses that have plenty of reviews and customer photos. |

I could, however as I'm searching I haven't found a dress to purchase yet that was under $200. Add an additional $50 to shorten a formal gown and I'm in minimum $250 for a dress I'll never wear again. (repeat process in 3-6 months )

I’m 5’1” and I’ve done long before. It’s helpful to read the reviews for the dress and set it to filter other people your size; they will mention things like “runs long/short” that can help you pick a good dress. Shape is something to consider as well; floor length on a ball gown is different than floor length on a sheath. |
