Good morning, Peeps!! Have you done your taxes yet?

We had to pay in to both fed and state and, in checking my on-line account this morning, both checks have cleared my account. I mailed them on the 9th so the PTB didn't waste any time cashing those checks. :D

It's back to work for me today to find that I have no work to do. Wading through 100 or so emails kept me busy for a while but now I will just have to look busy when everyone else starts arriving.

Hope you all have a great day!

Morning, AG. I did my taxes at the end of January and got refunds on both (thank goodness!) *lol*

Here's hoping you look busy effectively :)

Yep, taxes done and refunds on both. Not huge BUT nothing to pay out so I am happy!

AG, I have to do "busy work" sometimes - it can be frustrating, for sure.

BE, hope things are going well for you. We're hanging in there together, getting it done one day at a time. LOL

It looks like I'll be paying again this year. I'm going to finish my returns this morning and do electronic payments. I'll drop off my city taxes this afternoon.

I took a personal day today. I forgot to shut off my alarm so I've been awake since 5 a.m. The cats are giving me the "shouldn't you be leaving already" look.

Yep, still hanging in there. Looking at job postings, I am reminded that I am earning good money compared to the rest of the market *lol* So I will be patient and wait for the right offer to come along.

Keep hanging in there! :)

BE, I have done a little bit of looking, too. And unfortunately realize that I have a pretty good deal at my current situation! So I take a deep breath & decide to stay the course. In my small town, the prospects are slim to none!

I think we are in fairly good shape for right now. Am more worried about the fall because we don't have much on the books right now for that time period. Hoping some projects will come available.

After some begging and the promise of both a batch of chocolate chip cookies and a chocolate swirl cheesecake, my brother-in-law did our taxes. In fact I need to go to the office earlier than usual to have time to print out the tax returns and get them in the mail. We are getting back a little from both stage and federal. I'm just happy I don't owe this time.

Accountant husband here, so my taxes won't be done till.. August? Poor guy's absolutely beat, but says he's in a good spot as far as returns go, but don't expect him home early.

It's sunny out here today! Of course, I have 6 inches of snow on the ground, and more coming on Wednesday, but sun!!

However, seeing this much snow on April 17th is just cruel. I'm hoping it melts soon, as Mom really wants to go home this weekend, and her friends have already plowed out her driveway and walkway, and turned up the heat in the house. They have been calling non stop telling me to just bring her, and they will take her everywhere she needs to go. If the driving report is good, I'll probably bring her home. As much as we love each other, we both need the break.

Anyway, it's Tuesday, and I'll probably be the only one in the office today, so at least I get peace and quiet?

Happy Tuesday Tax Day!

Good Tax Day Tuesday Morning, at least to our USA Peeps!

Yes, taxes were done online (my first time!) last night. I qualified for the free service, so why not? I ended up owing about $116 on Fed, which is unusual. I usually get a few hundred dollar refund. I think it's having all these employers with the agencies, each one taking out a different amount. I'm getting back $48 on CT state. I'm going to review my W-4 forms and filing status and have more taken out. I don't want to chance having to pay even more when I file next year.

Anyway, done for the year! Yay!

Yesterday went well at work, although somewhat hectic. The person I'm replacing hadn't been in all last week and they didn't know at the time that she would need a leave, so all her work is piled up and a lot of people were sending her emails to do stuff, not realizing she was not in. So, it's going to be hectic until I get the gist of everything. New Boss seems nice (although she was somewhat flustered yesterday, because of the work pileup, but she seemed calmer later in the day; I'd like to think it's because she sees that I will be able to do the job.) So, it's going to be a day of training, with different people training me on the different aspects of the job. Everyone seems patient though. They had a beautiful showroom, filled with every style, size, and color of bag they make! I could stand there for hours and just gaze at the beauty of the bags! (I like bags; can you tell?)

Glad the job doesn't start until 12 noon; I like to relax in the mornings.

Have a good day, Peeps! Take care! Stay safe!

We are long done with taxes.

I am not feeling today. Not sick. Just not feeling today. It is a nope kind of day. I have to go plaster on my happy face, move a bunch of stuff to the Mother's Day setup, try to drum up some excitement to make my new hourly sales goals that I am just not feeling. I have to go soon. I feel like crying? No, more like growling, and since that isn't the normal me, that makes me sad, so that is where the crying feeling comes from. I hate being micromanaged and I don't enjoy micromanaging others. I will be okay, but I would like it to be okay that I am NOT okay like at this second. And at least here I feel it is okay to say that right now, I am just not feeling it.

Ok. Off I go. Thanks for lending me your eyes. I mean, it isn't like you can hear me, so you aren't lending me an ear, unless you have that cool program that reads your texts to you, then thanks for lending me your ear. And if you did hear this, is it in a robotic monotone? Because I don't really talk like that. At least I don't think so.

FarmMa, I own 70 acres of farmland that my brother rents. I get a 1099 misc for this from his accountant. It is such a pain to do because I have to enter it as farm income then I have answer questions like "how many tractors do I have" "what did you pay for farm chemicals"? Next year the interest payments on my mortgage should make a difference and I might actually get a federal refund!

Good morning, Peeps!

DCM, I predict that when you get to Llamaland, your natural joie de vivre will kick in and you will SPARKLE! (you may not feel it but others around you will be pleasantly affected by your glow).

suomi, those folks will be so grateful to have you there. Probably are by now already, as they view you as highly competent as you make order out of chaos.

Taxes done several weeks ago. State got a few bucks out of us but federal had to give some back, which they did quite promptly. Gotta love e-filing.

Later today we should be meeting up with some family on the eve of 'official' reunion. Except for my brother, I haven't seen any of them since my father's funeral and that was 16 years ago. This is my favorite branch of relatives and I'm looking forward to it.

Morning All!
Sunny and breezy here.
Taxes done. Got a tiny bit back, but in general my income is so small, I will likely never have to pay.......unless XH gets us audited again. That strikes fear into my bones as I finally saw the tax returns he’d filed and hid from me for 10years. OMGosh it could be a nightmare for all his creative claims.

Kina, enjoy the reunion!
DCM, I know you can do this today! ** I love your posts! Always a giggle.
All of you struggling with jobs, I send you big balloons to hide in and escape the dread and drudgery.

Busy morning here: HOA meeting where I get to report on sewer lines (WooHoo), bills to pay and tai chi class this afternoon. I’m avoiding the bill paying and sitting here, thinking a third cup of coffee will help me postpone it further....but I know better. So off to balance accounts and pay bills.

I just dropped off my city tax forms. There was a guy at the counter next to me who was telling the tax lady that his girlfriend broke up with him and put all of his stuff in a storage rental place and never gave him the key. He also said he only worked about three weeks in 2017 so he didn't think he'd have to pay. I hope they were able to help him.

It is pretty ridiculous all the hoops you have to jump through because of anything vaguely relating to a FARM!!!! We still have numerous surveys & such that we have to respond to because it's like they don't believe we aren't making any income off the land somehow. Some of these are phone calls & they go through all these questions - no hay? no rent? etc. NO, when I sad we aren't farming, I meant it. And they call every 6-8 weeks with the same list to go through.

I want to tell them, dude we weren't making anything when it was in operation so how are we supposed to be making money now??

kina, hope you enjoy the reunion! It's nice that you are looking forward to it, so many times people are dreading them!

dinky, is there a certain time limit to when they can audit = like a "statute of limitations" or something? Seems like 10 years or so should be off limits. I mean, aren't we told to keep records for 7 years - beyond that, I hope they wouldn't be able to audit.

Oh, dinky, I did see your soup recipe from yesterday. It looks so good! I hope to try it one of these days. Interesting that it has hominy, I haven't seen that used in a long time. I remember my Mom having cans of it when I was a child but have no idea how she cooked it or in what dish she may have hidden it. LOL

eta: RL, suomi & Pudgy's + any others I have missed: Hope you have a great day!

Morning, lovely Peeps!

I hope everyone is getting at least a bit of sun today! My goals today are to do some writing and to exercise some. Yesterday after PT I hung out with my bestie who helped me find new shoes to replace my beaten up old ones. We were at the mall and also go to dtop in at the Nestle Tollhouse there. Yum! Then on to a casino. Fun day!

Yes, today is the day. I will write a check to the IRS & drop it off, & not hasten to get it posted before noon. Maybe mail it by 3, at the nearest drop box. Neener, neener, neener. :P

Mostly cloudy in Seattle today, w/ a high of 50F. Got in a 35-minute walk yesterday, & today I shall aim for a 40-minute walk.

I made it through work today without too much effort at just looking busy by working slower than usual and chatting more than usual. I have work for tomorrow as I emailed a sister company to ask if they had any files ready for me (I do their policies) and she brought a box of files in to me.

Got the title to my car today so off I went to pay the sales tax and get license plates. I asked for a simple plate number (the one on the 2007 Prius is super simple) and she told me I could swap plates. Yes!!! Let's do that!!! Then she gave a plate with a number that is super-duper simple. I'm still putting the old plate on the new car because I have that number memorized.

So far, knock on wood, we haven't had to jump through any hoops but VGpa only inherited the farm in 2016 so last year was the first time we had farm income.

The farm income is why we owed taxes which is why the $$ came out of the farm income.

Hi peeps. What. A. Day.
The beverage guy quit/unquit/had a total emotional meltdown. I had to write a statement. It was bad. Sad, concerning and yes, scary. Hell I didn't make my goals and I know i am stressed about that, but he freaked out about his. I felt so bad for him, because the actual tasks he does are far and away more detailed and require more knowledge of those things than the rest of us have. He does all that well, so him not getting great other numbers shouldn't be so bad, but the mico-managing of that stuff just pushed him over the edge. :( I felt so bad for him. I was in the cash office, door locked, in tears writing out my statement.

My sparkle had a hard time coming out today. It could have been me. He had kind of been super grumpy with me when I was checking his numbers yesterday. I have to, as it is just part of the job. I make the best of it. It doesn't mean it is easy for me. It isn't.

It could have been me. Seriously. Thing is, I was fully aware before I went that I was feeling off and posting here just helped me refocus so I could go in, just knowing I had already shared how I felt, so I didn't bring it in with me to work.
