Ok I'm going to say this is ready to be looked at :D Posted Image Full name: Everett Owen Baird Nicknames: Ever Age: 17 Gender: Male Ethnicity/ race: Canadian/Polish/ Caucasian Blood status: Muggleborn Magitype: Wizard Sexuality: Pansexual Occupation: Student/drug dealer House/ class taught/ specific job: Oursaline,3rd year (spent some time in a junvenile correction centre where it was discovered he had some latent magical ability after a fight with another kid. Was put under a probational arrangement with MacOncan, Is not permitted to leave the school grounds). His magical skills are sub par since he was introduced to magical schooling so late and needs to be assigned a tutor to help bring him up to speed. Evertt had the misfortune of stealing a magical suppressant when he was shoplifting from an old pawn shop when he was 10. A large silver ring with a rune carved into the top. It caught his eye so he took it and wore it constantly. This kept his powers from manifesting and it wasn't till he was sent to juvie and stripped of his belongings that his magical ability could finally emerge. Quick ref. appearance: Blue eyes, Light brown hair just past his shoulders, normally worn in a messy ponytail/bun. Caucasian, has a tan from being in the sun during mandatory outside hours at the correctional facility he was in. 6ft tall, is not overly built but has good muscle on him because it’s wise to spend time making sure you can take care of yourself when you’re in juvenile hall. His clothing style is standard to dark blue jeans that have seen some wear, a pair of thick black boots, a thin t shirt, and a beat up leather jacket covered in studs and patches. Appearance: Has a scar through his left eyebrow, across his right knuckle, and under his chin, from various fist fights in highschool. Has a half sleeve of black work tattoos on his right arm, from the elbow to his shoulder, of a geometric honeycomb pattern. Ever has a square face and an upturned nose. His brows are thick and dark, making the scar over his left eye stand out noticeably. He has long lashes that frame very ‘sleepy’ looking eyes. He tends to keep his arms drawn close to his body, usually crammed in his jacket pockets, able to quickly ball them into fists and take a swing at an opponent. Personality: He’s constantly trying to prove himself as being the toughest badass in a misguided attempt for respect but to also prevent anyone from getting close enough to him to see his numerous shortcomings. The big one being, he’s stupid. He was never a strong reader, and would often get frustrated in class, leading him to generally do poorly in school. He makes awful choices that get him in trouble with authority, then talks back when he’s in trouble and digs himself in deeper. He’s a braggart that doesn’t know when to just cut his loses. He thinks if he just keeps playing these little games, eventually his luck will turn and he’ll come out on top. History: From Toronto, Ontario. Was a small kid, and starting falling in with a bad crowd in an attempt to ‘prove’ himself. Small dares at first, shop lifting, vandalism, but soon it escalated. He began selling drugs around his highschool (mostly weed and some LSD) to students and a few teachers. He was attracted to that feeling of being needed by people who would normally avoid or talk shit about him in public. He was the screw up, the kid with bad grades who was always suspended or in detention. But in the end they’d always come to him for a hook up. And it made him feel superior. He was eventually sent to juvie on three counts of drug posession with intent to sell, as well as carrying a prohibited weapon, a switchblade. His mother died when he was young and raised by his father. When Everett started rebelling, his father not really knowing how to handle it fell back on what his father did to him for discipline, and started to beat him. Everett began to spend less and less time at home, being away for weeks at a time, only returning home in the back of a cop car. Both parents were muggles. This is his last chance, if he gets kicked out of this school he’s being sent to the Alert prison. He’s under a sort of ‘house arrest’ at the school and is not allowed to leave the grounds. Everett is constantly pushing people and testing their nerves. He treats everything as a game and just seems set on a path of self destruction. He’s had very little in his life that really meant anything to him and therefore views most things with a detatched air. Resents/is embarrassed that he’s older than the students in his year. He has little to no belongings, his clothes are worn but have served him well. Doesn’t have much money to his name, but looking to change that by starting up his old business habits at this new school. Trivia! Smokes Boggart: A cop Patronus: unknown Wand: Dragon heartstring, walnut, 10” The thing that interests him most about this new magical community he’s being exposed to, is how to take advantage of it to his own profit. I really really am enjoying this. One question: accidental, childhood magic generally occurs during periods of high stress (being bullied, or shoved out of a window, etc). It seems like he's had quite a few of those in his life - adrenaline rush while shoplifting, fear and resentment from abuse, grief for his mother. So what was so different about the prison fight that it made him finally show magic? (Or maybe he did a bit before, but was always e.g. in the same apartment building as a known mage, so it was just assumed that they were the cause? Maybe he took to wearing a family heirloom necklace or ring that somehow suppressed magical powers?) also I don't think he'd be likely to stay on the Oursaline team for too long if they caught him throwing matches - but maybe he's just that sneaky! looking forward to seeing him finished up! |

I was hoping to play it off as he'd just been extremely lucky (perhaps as a result of his magic manifesting in that form). Living in a highly populated area each 'incident' he would have caused could have mistakenly been attributed to someone else, another wizard living in his building, just happened to be one or two passing through town and they got the blame for it instead of Everett. I wanted him to be a wizard that sort of slipped through the cracks of the magical system. However, I do like the idea of a magical heirloom suppressant. But I think it would be more fitting if it was just something he stole and rather took a liking too, and ended up being another example of his bad life choices screwing things up down the road for him. |

haha, yeah, that does seem more fitting. I just mentioned heirloom because it's something most people would be more likely to wear all the time for sentimental reasons, but hey, maybe it just looks darned awesome. just so long as you come up with a relatively convincing explanation for how he slipped through the cracks all those years, I'm totally on board. :) |
