Full name: Skye Amalia Renegarde
Age: 42
Gender: Female; cisgender
Ancestry: French, German, Russian
Blood status: Half-blood
Magitype: Mage
Sexuality: Pansexual
Special abilities: Wandless Magic: Trained
Occupation: MacOncan Headmaster
Languages: English, French, Latin, LSQ (Quebec Sign Language)
Former House: St. Clair

History:
Born to a pureblood father who gave up his legacy and name for her muggle mother; Grew up and lives in Quebec; Attended muggle school through grade 6 before coming to MacOncan; Chose House St. Clair; Graduated and pursued a business career so she would be in the public eye; Moved from business to Headmaster of MacOncan; She is going into her second year as Headmaster and finally feels like she is settling in

Skye was lucky enough to be born into a loving family unit. Her mother, Serenity, and father, Christoff, accidentally conceived her on a weekend camping trip before either of them were really ready for a family. Her maternal grandparents were thrilled with the news and welcomed Christoff into their family with open arms, but the same could not be said for her paternal grandparents. They were not even aware that their son had been seeing anyone, never mind a muggle from a family of hippies. Christoff came from a long line of purebloods who prided themselves on preserving their bloodline and family name. He was unlucky enough to be the only male child in the line, which meant it was his destiny to carry on the name. He was groomed and trained to embrace traditions that were long dead to modern wizarding society, but he rejected them in secret, finding solace in sneaking away to find interesting, colorful people to share his passions with. With the news of a half blood child on the way, Christoff's parents cut him off, refusing to see or speak to him, which was actually a relief for him.

Christoff and Serenity gave birth to Skye in July. The two of them could not have been more please with the birth of their perfect daughter. It took a while but Christoff's parents realized that he was not going to return home to them with his tail between his legs. They were growing older and decided to extend an olive branch to him and his new family and rebuild the bridge. Chris was very hesitant, but Serenity encouraged amiable relations with them, because family was always the most important thing.

These two polar opposite lives were what gave Skye her bright personality. Her parents gave her the courage to be who she was born to be, while her paternal grandparents taught her how to walk the tightrope that was public life and powerful magical tools such as wandless magic. She went to muggle school to learn social skills, and took long walks with her maternal grandparents in the woods to learn about nature and the way of the natural world. There is no way around it, Skye was spoiled by her family.

She came to MacOncan with an inflated ego, but a compassionate spirit, imposing what she believed to be best for people on them with little regard to what they actually needed. She grew up in a bubble world where everything was sunshine and rainbows, but MacOncan changed that for her forever.

She began to meet diverse and interesting beings who brought a whole new perspective to her life. She found out that not all people came from such a good life and she was extraordinarily lucky to grow up like she did. She found out that her "help" was perceived as condescending and, when she took a step back and looked at it, it was. She shut down for the first time in her life, feeling lost and depressed at the absolute lack of help she was giving. She was so desperate for everyone to experience the kind of joy and happiness she felt growing up, but she had no idea how to go about it.

Skye threw herself into school, hoping that she would find some kind of revelation in her school work that would help her move forward in life. Her confidence was shattered and she was totally lost. That was when she met an amazing transgender seventh year. He was so sure of himself and who he was and he was liked by everyone. He sat down at the same table in the library with her one day when she was struggling with a potions essay. It had frustrated her beyond words because she loved potions, but the solution to the question eluded her, even after hours of research. She was on the verge of tears when he stopped what he was doing and asked if she needed help. She, of course, told him no because of her own pride and was surprised when he smiled and nodded and went back to his work. It was so different from what she expected his reaction to be. If it had been her, she would have helped anyway and pushed the issue. It took her an hour of fruitless effort before she swallowed her pride and asked him for help. He happily stopped what he was doing and walked her through the problem, allowing her to come to the correct solution on her own with only slight guidance when she was getting off track.

From there the two of them struck up a light conversation as they both worked. As the library closed, she couldn't help but ask him why he did what he did. He smiled and explained that help was not something that should be forced on people. They need to want it for it to be effective. It was about listening and responding proactively. They spent another few hours talking where he told her his life story. They bullying. The hate. The depression. All struggles she was completely unfamiliar with, but were part of his daily life because he was a trans minority. He inspired her. He made her want to help people, but the right way this time.

Skye stopped and listened to people's stories, drawing from their life experiences to comprehend the world around her in a new way. She had been exposed to so little of it. The fights between her parents and paternal grandparents over blood issues were nothing compared to the world outside where persecution could be called a norm. Skye continued to excel in her studies and life through school and graduated at the top of her class. From there she moved into public view, establishing her name separate from the pureblood stigma that had been associated with it for years. When the headmaster from MacOncan announced retirement, Skye eagerly applied for the position, hoping that she would be able to continue the movement for social equality that was so strong in MacOncan already, to further SeQUOIA, and to inspire all young mages to be who they wanted to be, regardless of gender, race, sexual orientation, and birthright.

Appearance:
Blue eyes; Curly, hip length, strawberry red hair; Pale skin; 5'6"; Full figured

Skye is an aggressive, in your face kind of person and her appearance tells all. Her startling pale skin and bright blue eyes often come across intense or even intimidating. Add to that a mop of naturally brilliant red curls, she is quite recognizable. She learned to embrace herself at a very young age and takes pleasure in dressing herself accordingly. She feels no shame for her body, though she has been told by her bigoted, pureblood grandparents that she should lose some weight, and will wear anything she feels embodies her vivacious and bold outlook on life. She loves big patterns and statement pieces that may be considered odd and mismatching, but she just takes the criticism in stride and moves on with her day. She does wear formal (and very well tailored) robes while she is at the school, but it is merely to appear as neutral and approachable as possible.

Her face is round, but she has strong cheek bones and a pointed nose that add depth and dimension to her look. Her eyes are a little too large for her face, but she adores the color of them, so she has come to terms with the imperfections. She accents her strong facial features with vivid makeup, trying out all shades of color and types of makeups at least once. Her most typical look is a smoky eye shadow with hints of blue and a bright red lipstick, making her porcelain complexion appear even more pale than necessary.

Growing up, she never much cared about fitting in with the gender norms that her grandparents tried to instill. She embraced both the male and female norms, taking a shine to baking (which led to a love of potions) as well as rough and tumble sports like soccer where she would come home scraped up and covered in grass stains. Her active life style has left her in very good shape, but her love of all things sweet and savory has kept her from becoming lean. While her shape might be considered "hourglass" if she were to grow a couple of inches, her shorter stature has left her with broad shoulders and a good center of gravity.

Personality:
Opinionated; Intelligent; Confident; Compassionate; Bright

It is not only her looks that garner attention when she enters the room. Skye's personality creates a presence that almost crackles like electricity through a room. She is content to be overlooked, but is capable of demanding the attention of those she needs to speak to. Her confidence and positive disposition is often contagious and she will do anything in her power to spread her bright outlook to those in her vicinity. Because of this, Skye cannot stand hostile or negative situations and will seek to lighten the mood or remove herself (or the being causing the negativity) as quickly as possible. She very much believes in honest discourse and clearing the air, instead of letting bad emotions drag anyone, especially innocent bystanders, down.

She makes it her goal as Headmaster to be as approachable as possible. She knows that she is prone to bouts of melancholy if she is inactive for too long, so she has built a block of time into her daily routine that is simply walking the grounds of the campuses and touching base with the staff and students. She loves to be hands on and involved with everything happening in the school so that no student will ever feel vulnerable or alone while they are under her care. She strives to foster strong relations with any student that her professors or student tell her need the attention or help. She is known for finding unique solutions to commonplace problems, even at her own expense to allow the student to feel welcome, comfortable, and happy at the school.

Skye is relentless in pushing for the things she believes in. She is very optimistic about anyone that she comes in contact with, giving her somewhat of a savior complex. She fought to her position of power to help those that are often helpless, especially young mages and creatures who are growing up in a time of change and social turmoil. She recognizes that they are the future and desires to see them reach their potential and change the world one day.

OK, I see it's still a WIP, but I have a few things to say already -

For one, I'm really pleased that she knows LSQ. Her personality seems pretty solid (although very much more Bellomere or maybe Oursaline than St-Claire, but that's up to you!).

Two issues I'm seeing though -

1. She's only 30. As is written in the Positions thread, the headmaster/ principal must be at least 40 years old, as a bare minimum. This is not because I favour "old mystical wizards" or something, but because you need some serious life experience, an impressive resume, and a certain amount of seniority to get promoted/ positioned to something like that. She would be OK as a teacher at 30, but not the principal.

2. I'm kind-of pretty weirded out by the "and then she met a trans man and his life was so tragic and inspiring" part of her story? Like... maybe give him a name at least? Make them good friends, maybe he's still important to her? She might not have known he was trans at first, not found out about all of his issues until they became good friends - or not have cared about them and undergone her little metamorphosis until then. She probably needed a bit of nudging and guidance maybe from a close friend to get on the right track, not just one encounter with the perfect plot device.

I will definitely keep the houses under consideration. I personally like St. Clair the best, but she's doing her own thing, so we shall see.

About the age, I 100% missed that...my bad.

About the history, I agree entirely. I was free writing and wasn't sure where I was going with any of it really. Just poking and prodding ideas to get them going. I was planning on expanding on her history and adding more specific details as I went. I simply wanted to get the general outline down. Fear not, it will be much less formulaic and sappy by the time it is done!
