I decided that, while Mythical Creatures A-Z was very extensive, it wasn't very detailed about the monster's life history, such as habitat, life span, diet, offspring, etc. So I proposing that, following what Mythical Creatures A-Z says about the monsters, we create more information about them as we encounter them.
The monsters are listed into their respective ranks and further organized into type.

THE ROC
Posted Image

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Rocs are gigantic white birds with horns on their heads and enormous wingspans. No distinguishing features between males and females of the species.

ORIGIN OF CREATURE:Arabic myth

RANK A

SIZE: Rocs are gigantic with potentially a wingspan of 16 yards.

DIET: Rocs are purely carnivores and have been known to even pick up elephants to eat.

LIFE SPAN: 90-200 years.

BREEDING, BABIES AND NESTING : Both genders become sexually mature at ten years old and breeding usually occurs in fall or early winter, so the eggs won't hatch until spring. Like most birds of prey in order to mate rocs perform elaborate dances in the sky with their talons locked (the dance is an amazing site if a person is ever lucky enough to see it, but unfortunately rocs only breed once every decade or two). After the dance the male and female part ways. A few days later the female finds a cliff to build her nest of sticks on and within a few months the female releashes her clutch of eggs and sits on them, only abandoning them when she gets far too hungry or thirsty to continue living. after she leaves the nest she eats/drinks her fill as quickly as possible and returns to her nest.

The eggs hatch into fluffy balls of gray down in the springtime and stay with the mother until their tenth year, after which they leave and start families of their own. Of course before they leave the mother teaches them the essentials of flight and other tools of survival.

HABITAT: The Mountains and Waterfall Valley

ABILITIES : Its large size allows it to be be very strong with deadly talons, beak and wings.

THE EASTERN DRAGON
Posted Image

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION:Eastern dragons have long serpentine bodies and four scaly feet almost like bird feet as well as long whiskers. Their scales are usually pale or bright colors as well as their eyes. They also have manes that tend to be slightly lighter than their scales.

Females tend to have shorter whiskers than males and males will occasionally have horns, but not always.

ORIGIN OF CREATURE:Chinese and Japanese myth

RANK A

SIZE: On average males can grow to between 20 and 30 feet long. Females can grow to between 17 and 25 feet long.

DIET: Eastern dragons are omnivores.

LIFE SPAN: Up to 600 years

BREEDING, BABIES AND NESTING : Eastern dragons reach full maturity at twenty years, but most don't usually have their first clutch of eggs until well into their forties. When a male and female do decide to mate the process is just what you'd expect of four-legged animals, but they like to mate in private and the male and female usually spend a couple years courting, rather like humans, since they mate for life. One sure sign that a male and female eastern dragons are preparing to breed is that they'll find a cave and stay there for a few months and after that eggs are bound to be on the way.

Females choose to nest at high elevations so she's closer to the sky since that's where the first eastern dragons lived. After the nest is built(usually just shaped from the rock with the male's fire) the mother will lay eggs almost a year and a half into the pregnancy and normally only two eggs are laid, a boy and a girl.

When the babies hatch their whiskers are often far too long for them and it takes about a year for them to grow into it ,but other than that baby dragons are pretty much mini versions of their parents, usually with a mix of both parent's scale colors in their own scales. The eyes are usually one color(either the mom's or the dad's), but occasionally if the parents have two different eye colors a baby can be born with one eye color from each. Lastly, baby dragons leave the nest somewhere in their late teens.

HABITAT: The highest peaks of the Mountains

ABILITIES : Like their western counterpart they can blow fire, but their fire is blue or green instead of orange, yellow and red. They can also fly even without wings.

THE UNICORN
Posted Image

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Unicorns are petite horses, usually pure white(but, occasionally not), with a single horn(gold or silver) in the middle of their forehead. Their hooves are cloven(basically shaped like a deer's and silver) and lion-like tails. Lastly their eyes are varying shades of blue.

ORIGIN OF CREATURE:Various myths , but this one is most closely based on the old European version

RANK S(GOOD)

SIZE: About four feet to five feet tall.

DIET:Herbivore

LIFE SPAN:Around 80-150 years

BREEDING, BABIES AND NESTING :Since most unicorns are female they'll give birth once or twice in their lifetime, if they are lucky. Breeding must been done after the creature is two decades old and since male unicorns are rare, most unicorns have to cross breed with a pegasus leading to most babies being born with both a horn and wings, the hoof type varies between the cloven hooves of the unicorn and the horse-like hooves of the pegasus.

If a unicorn is lucky enough to give birth she will treasure that child as much as a human treasures their and will give her life if necessary. Also, most baby unicorns/ unipegs are born during the full moon and only one is born at a time. There are reports of twins being born during a blue moon, but that has yet to be confirmed.

As far as nesting goes unicorns are wanderers by nature so all dens are temporary, but the mother makes sure the baby is at her side at all times so she can watch both the back and the front for an attack, without putting her foal at risk. Lastly the father is rarely in the picture except for occasional visits, some say this is because their intimidated by the purity that unicorns represent, but that hasn't been confirmed.

HABITAT: Forest(deeper parts) and Waterfall Valley

ABILITIES :As far as magic goes unicorns are clerics, meaning all their magic is healing based, however don't underestimate them, they know how to use their horn and hooves for offense if it becomes necessary;they are also have human-level intelligence and can even speak if they wish to do so.

HUGINN & MUNINN

Posted Image

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: They have the appearance of the Common Raven.

ORIGIN OF CREATURE: Norse myth

RANK: S (Neutral)

SIZE: The size of an average Common Raven.

DIET: They are omnivores. They usually eat meat, but have a special fondness for french fries.

LIFE SPAN: Unknown

BREEDING, BABIES AND NESTING: Both Huginn and Muninn are male and only one of them mates with a normal female raven to produce only two twin offspring. The other brother helps guard the nest and raise the offspring after they hatch. Once the young have reached adolescence at 2 years of age the old Huginn and Muginn die. They become mature at around 5-7 years of age. It is unknown exactly how long they can live, but they can outlast their human owners and still be able to produce offspring. It is thought that only one of them reproduces because either the other brother is sterile or because they have the same genetic make up, but this has never been confirmed or tested due to unwilling participates.

HABITAT: Forest

ABILITIES : Including their obvious physical weapons of beak and talon, they can turn invisible to most creatures except winged flying monsters and transformed Amethyst warriors. Minor or midrange mind-influencing magic will not work on them and they are agile enough to dodge many spells with a fixed point-of-origin. They can learn many different human and monster languages by observation and have an instinctive desire to learn every new tongue they come across.

Just a reminder that the habitat section in the bestiary entry refers to the habitat they'd be found on on the preserve

THE JACKALOPE

Posted Image

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: They have the appearance of their more common non-magical cousins, the black-tailed jackrabbit, but with white bony antlers. They can have anywhere from 1 - 7 prongs in their antlers depending on the age, gender, and health of the individual. Note that in winter their antlers are shed.

ORIGIN OF CREATURE: Modern American myth

RANK: C

SIZE: Up to 2 ft long from hind toes to nose, and an adult can weigh 4-7 pounds. Females are larger than males.

DIET: They are herbivores, and can eat a wide variety of plant material.

LIFE SPAN: 2-5 years

BREEDING, BABIES AND NESTING: Males mature at 7 months old while females usually breed around the spring of their second year. They have litters during the warm months and can have 2-7 offspring in a litter. They do not have a nest but give birth in a shallow indentation in the ground called a form. Young are borne fully furred, eyes open, are mobile within minutes of birth, but do not have antlers. Females do not protect or even stay with the young except during nursing. Ages of weaning and dispersal are unclear since the young are well camouflaged and rarely observed in the field. Captive jackalopes are fully weaned by 8 weeks and usually their antlers are starting to shoot up by then. The young stay together for at least a week after leaving the form, then disperse.

HABITAT: Forest & Waterfall Valley

ABILITIES: Their natural defenses of camouflage and speed are enough to make them tricky to catch, but they also have a magical ability to emulate human voices. They repeat basic phrases they hear when humans hunt for them to trick the humans on a wild goose chase like "I saw it over there!" and "It disappeared!". They often use the phrases and voices of whomever is currently hunting them, and can sound just like them. It is usually not necessary to erase the memory of any non-magical person who sees an antlered jackalope since they are usually accepted or ignored where they commonly occur on earth.
