The Jiraki are a mammalian race known for their remarkable biotic abilities. They are a species that evolves by absorbing characteristics of other races they encounter. Each one is linked to all the others by a web of telepathy known as Ahrajik. This allows them to communicate with one another without the knowledge of other species, and also to disseminate new genes instantly across the entire species. At present the Jiraki are around six foot, red skinned, furry and humanoid with a pair of red bat-like wings and clawed hands. They contribute both ground and space forces to the Inusannon.
At one point the Jiraki were intended to be an insectoid spacefaring race, kind of like six legged Quarians. Of all the Inusannon races this is the one that has changed the most from the original concept. The ideas for the unique physiological traits of the Jiraki come from a number of sources, including but not limited to the Krillitanes of Dr. Who, the Ildirans from the Saga of Seven Suns series of books, the Amarantin from Allistair Reynolds's Revelation Space, our very own and dearly beloved Vorcha and that weird red guy from Green Lantern. Various traits from all these species were mashed and mangled until they looked like the second incarnation of Jiraki. Then I realised that the Inusannon were short of mammalian races so I redid them again. Then I realised they ought to have another biotic race. Of all the races, the Jiraki are the one most likely to undergo significant changes.
