CNN: Reapers Target Terminus Systems 04.03.2201 These past few weeks have been filled with both triumph and tragedy across the galaxy ever since the initial, unexpected, and unrelenting arrival of the Reapers. The liberation of both Tuchanka and Kahje from the diabolical grasp the Reapers hold over us have boosted allied morale greatly and allievated much-needed aid in the war effort. Such jubilation was quickly overshadowed by the fall of Sur'Kesh. The salarian homeworld fell victim beneath the onslaught the Reapers, dark times for their people. Our hopes and wishes can only be offered in condolences here at the CNN studio to all those displaced by such unfortunate circumstances. Hope shines brightly still though as the Krogan Empire has kept its word in pledging its forces to the cause on Palaven in assistance with the Hierarchy to drive the Reapers off of the turian homeworld. However...even in light of such promising news, the Reapers are showing no mercy in their genocidal conquest of galactic civilization. The infamous Terminus Systems, outlaw space beyond the Council's jurisdiction, a plethora of independent colonies, systems, and nations has fallen victim to the menace of the ancient machine race that plagues us. Initial reports are still coming in, but communications with both the Asari Republics' controlled Illium and the massive space station Omega have experienced communications blackouts. Multiple, smaller systems have also experienced technical difficulties in maintaining communications with the rest of the galaxy. Speculation leads us to believe that they have fallen under attack by the Reapers. This is the very same manner, the same tactics which were employed weeks ago on the Council homeworlds. Removal of galactic-level communications silenced any hopes of organized retaliation and took advantage of the ensuing chaos that we are still embroiled in to some extent. That being said, it seems to be a similar pattern and the same result that the Reapers desire: Cutting off their target from the rest of the galaxy to avoid outside intervention. While this may be the case or communications are experiencing system overload from the sheer volume of traffic being utilized on a less than full capacity system, it still leaves many questions unanswered. As optimistic as it may be to believe that it is purely a technical problem and not the Reapers, the dark, depressing truth will make itself known in the coming days for sure. Until then, CNN will keep you up-to-date with further developments. |
