13-05-2197 SSV AIN JALUT APPROACHING FEHL PRIME COLONY ---------------- Coming out of FTL speeds, the oldest of the Alliance's stealth frigates arrived in-system barely twenty minutes from the colony at sublight speeds. The helmsman, Lt. Vincent "Vinnie" Greer followed the pre-arranged course plot with stealth systems engaged to hide their approach. The course would take the ship past one of Fehl Prime's moons, then into an atmospheric insertion towards one of the military bases set up on the colony in the post-war years. The course did take the ship fairly close to a passing storm front and the ship was pelted by rain and winds. But Vinnie easily compensated and the momentum dampeners kept the ship's crew from feeling the storm's effects. Minutes passed and the ship emerged in view of one of the colony settlements Neuer. Next to Eiche or the capital of Avest, Neuer was the third-largest on Fehl Prime with a population of about 270,000 people. Many of them worked in the pharma corporations that were in operation here but Neuer also had a noticeable population of Alliance military personnel. Though Avest had the main military command Neuer had the main military facilities on-plant. Vinnie had a quick conversation with the flight controller at the Alliance base, providing their security codes, and getting the final approach vectors to their berth. As the ship coasted it, reducing speed, Vinnie noticed nearby occupied ship berths which had heavy cruiser Norfolk and battle cruiser New York City - one of the Veracruz-class ships. He counted himself a bit lucky seeing an old workhorse parked alongside a new one, then refocused on easing the ship into its docking berth. Mechanical arms with electromagnetic discs reached out and latched onto the frigate and secured it in place. Then the gang plank extended and hooked onto the hull. ![]() CAPT Jeremiah Reed ![]() LCDR Sandra Kelso "Docking clamps and gang plank are secure. Docking sequence complete. Main engines off, sir," reported Vinnie. "Very well," acknowledged Captain Jeremiah Reed, before turning over to his XO and speaking casually. "And while we wait here, try not to do any sightseeing out there. We're on a tight schedule." "Oh, and me without my camera," responded Commander Sandra Kelso, equally as casual. Owing to the mission being one of high security she wore her full combat kit including armor and weapons. She then tapped her inner ear comm unit to tap into internal comms. "VIKI, Lt. Ford, please report to the bridge for disembarking." Moments later the two other team members of the shore party emerged from the port side hatch to the second deck. ![]() 1LT Joe Ford ![]() VIKI As she was made to be an effective infiltrator, the ship's resident walking A.I. VIKI had activated her camouflage system to make herself appear to be human. In addition, she had donned a light set of armor in order to further appear like another normal serviceman, carrying a few weapons on her person. Though, most likely she could've forgone with the disguise and easily pass as a personal assistance mech to most people. Lieutenant Ford, the ship's dedicated marine officer, followed behind VIKI carrying noticeably more kit than she did. "Reporting as ordered, sirs," spoke VIKI, her arms throwing up a salute. The lieutenant did the same. The captain saluted back in acknowledgement. "You know the mission. You've got five hours to pick up the package and get back here. Try not to get lost along the way." "Sir, with my being present, the odds of us becoming 'lost' are extremely minute," replied VIKI. "Yes I know," replied the captain. "That's why I'm sending you with them because you're so accurate and punctual." VIKI tilted her head, as though pondering the statement's meaning, before showing a sense of contentment on her face. "Ah." "Anyways," spoke up the XO. "Let's go." The lieutenant nodded and the three of them walked out of the ship and down the gang plank into the docking area where they were greeted by a Staff Lieutenant from ONI. They had initially planned to head to their destination by truck but ONI decided to requisition a shuttle to get Sandra's team there faster. So, instead of heading to where the parking lot was, they headed to the small craft hangars and getting on board a Kodiak shuttle. As it began to take off and flew over the outskirts of the city, Lt. Ford looked on through on of the display screens at Neuer's skyline which - though not as impressive as other more-developed worlds - was still noteworthy with a handful of tall buildings. "Kinda amazing what a place like this can do in only a matter of years," spoke the lieutenant to no one in particular. "I'm surprised that a colony like this manages to etch out a living on the frontier like this." "It probably would be much bigger had it not been for the Collector attack," responded Commander Kelso. "It is more likely that if it had not been destroyed by the Collectors, then it would've been destroyed by the Reapers," spoke VIKI. "You sure about that?" asked the lieutenant. "The odds are that without the Collector attack, the colony would've been a target for Reaper forces looking to harvest its population. The fixed defenses would not have produced a dissimilar result." "Maybe. But at least if they were targeted by the Reapers then the colonists wouldn't have had to fight by themselves without support." "The colony did possess an Alliance military contingent at the time of the Collector attack. Yet they were unable to prevent the colony's destruction." The lieutenant sighed. "Me and my glimmer of optimism..." Edited by ThatPatriot, Feb 17 2017, 05:10 PM.

13 May 2197 Alliance Outpost Fehl Prime Colony ![]() SLT. Michael O'Connell O’Connell wiped his brow with his forearm before focusing his eyes on his target and unleashing several swift punches. The large marine he was sparing with took several quick back steps dodging the jabs O’Connell threw. The marine was a powerhouse and began to shimmer with the telltale signs of biotic power, the energy condensed into his fists as he unleashed a powerful biotic uppercut. O’Connell attempted to pull back but only just managed to get his hands in the way to help reduce the impact. The punch still managed to lift him off his feat and plant him firmly on his back. O’Connell shook his head attempting to shake the ringing in his ears. He hopped back to his feat. He smiled at Torres, "Thought we agreed you’d lay off the biotics?” O'Connell massaged his jaw as he spoke. ”What can I say LT, gotta keep you on your toes… or off them as the case may be.” Torres gave a chuckle before stumbling back as a punch from O’Connell connected right into his chest. O’Connell leaped on the opening laying out a few quick jabs before dropping down into a low sweeping kick and taking Torres off his feat. "Torres you love talking, makes it easy for your opponents to distract you. Hope you won't be a foolish when you take over the Bull's Rush." O'Connell smiled and extended a hand down to help Torres up. "No sir. I'm gonna have them whipped into the best damn squad in the Alliance. Even better the then The E. O'Connell raised an eyebrow at the suggestion. "The E" as they were know was the best squad on the Norfolk. They were giving the toughest tasks and to even be considered for the team required completing ICT and earning an N designation. Torres must of seen the look O'Connell made. "Well...you know what I meant. Though won't lie LT feels odd to think when we ship out I won't be a member of The E anymore." The two men walked over to a few crates. Torres grabbed a high electrolyte drink made for the Alliance's biotic soldiers and O'Connell grabbed some water. "You'll always be a member of The E but I wouldn't have promoted you and given you the Bull's Rush if I didn't think you could do it. You hands down one of my best NCO's. When you can avoid the showboating that is." Torres smiled a little before staring up at the Norfolk she was docked along side the newer Veracruz-class cruisers the SSV New York City "Thanks for the match LT, think I'll got put the rush through some barrier practice." Torres turned to O'Connell throwing up a salute. O'Connell returned it "Who's like us?" "Damn few!" The two marines smiled at each other before finishing the toast at the same time, "And their All dead!" O'Connell stared at Torres with pride. He remembered when the kid first posted to the Norfolk now he was leading his own squad. Seeing his marines succeed was one of the best perks of the job. "Don't forget staff meeting at 1400 Hours. Don't be late, Gunny" Torres nodded before heading off towards the building that was serving as temporary housing for the Marines of the Norfolk as she was docked for resupply on Fehl Prime. O'Connell began to stretch as he looked up at the Norfolk, he loved serving on the old gal but seeing her docked along side the next generation cruiser it was hard to deny she was beginning to show her age. Still he would trade her for the world. She'd always been there and if O'Connell had his way she always would. He shook himself from his nostalgia and began making his way towards the nearby tree line he was supposed to be meeting the rest of The E and their newest recruit for a brisk morning 5 mile run. Of course the rest of the squad didn't know that yet. Edited by Aruden, Feb 22 2017, 11:43 PM.
