Not to anger anyone, but why do you believe the Torah/Bible/others/etc.? Has there been any proof besides what is written down? I mean, I could say that cows flew thirty years ago, but no one would believe me. So how are (these are people from the Bible, seeing as I'm not familiar with the other texts) Paul and John and Luke and Peter and such more credible? What did they do that caused you people (obviously now I am including more than those listed, such as Jewish or Islam or Catholic leader people, because y'all are not all Christian, and I don't want to categorize y'all as such) to instill your full and unwaivering trust in them, so much so, as to belive their thoughts on deities? Personally (obviously) I'm agnostic, and I'm not trying to convert anyone, but I just want to see your reasons for believing, and see if any of them could persuade me to agreeing with the 'fact' of the existence of any higher being, like the Buddha, or Allah, or Goddot, or Jehova, or...those are all I know. My apologies for any innacuracies, such as spelling, or confusing deities and religions.

This reply is a bit late, sorry.

Atheism-A belief that there is no higher being.
Agnostisism-A belief that there cannot be proof either one way nor the other relating to higher beings/deities.

And that's my point, what inspires your faith? Is it dumb luck? Is it family tradition? Is it something else?

Faith is composed by oneself. Some people need to believe that a higher being exists, and if they don't there entire lives would fall apart. You just might not understand how anyone needs a higher being yet...... It's ahrd to write it down I'll try to tell you more at school.......

You can really follow what you want. Some use idols to focus their beiliefs on one thing.

That's what I meant. They are quite common. From statues to the smaller ones.

Of course it does, that's basically the definition of IDOL. A representation of a deity.
