"You sound like a president" is not necessarily a compliment. Would you want to sound like Nixon?

I don't know if I'd want to sound like Washington either, but my point is that if someone tells you that you sound like a president, you can't assume it's a compliment.

Well, Barack Obama (who will probably be president someday) is ARTICULATE. I can't believe that some thought that was an insult. Whatever. I'm saying random things.

They thought it was an insult because someone decided there's an implied "...for a black person" in it. I don't think that makes any sense, because he is articulate in a way that most of the other candidates aren't, but that's just me. If Biden had said that about anyone else there wouldn't have been a problem. Another thing I don't understand about the whole thing is that Biden also said Obama was "clean", and I really don't see why no one's complaining about that. Why would "clean" be a compliment? Is Biden implying that the other candidates aren't? Yes, actually, I'm sure Obama showers regularly. Why does that make him a good presidential candidate?

I have no idea what anyone is talking about.

BUT:

it sounds like 'Biden' said that Obama was clean....when/where did he say that?

Joe Biden is a senator from somewhere (no, really?) and a Democrat, I think. He was complimenting Obama and said he was, among other things, "articulate" and "clean". This was a month or two ago. So, for reasons unclear to me, the media decided that "articulate" was an insult when used about a black person, and everyone appeared to forget the fact that Obama is, in fact, articulate.

Ah, I see.

Anyhoo, I think that when he said clean, he didn't mean it literally, he most likely meant it as he campaigns cleanly, as opposed to going around insulting and muckracking.
