MAY 24TH, 2012 - 4:00 PM Nothing helps get over heartbreak, be it from a long-term relationship ending or a crush gone awry in the ten or so minutes that it had been existence, quite like hard work... or, at least, that was what the adage was. At the moment, Rise would have agreed that it was true-- well, if it wasn't for how she was on the verge of tearing her hair out. A tanned fist slammed down on the counter beside the open book that she was looking down at, the Sudoku puzzle she had been working on almost completely filled in with rather girly-looking handwriting... but somewhere along the way, she'd put a number in the wrong slot. And now? Now she was going to have to start all over again. Sigh. "Dammit..." That curse-word was muttered, softly, as she flipped her pencil around in her hands and began erasing, trying to have a light touch so she didn't obliterate the grid beneath it. That'd be the last thing she'd need-- to dig out a ruler and a pen to re-draw the lines she needed to fill out the puzzle in the first place. Shaking her head, she started filling in the numbers anew, occasionally glancing out the open door of Marukyu Tofu to watch it rain. She knew that something huge was on the horizon, something that put her in mind of risque music, of underground secret bases and 8-bit castles... of her eyes meeting the gray orbs of Akihiko for the first time. Sighing to herself, she shoved the thought aside before she tucked the puzzle book away beneath the cash register. After a quick check to ensure that her work smock and hair kerchief were in order, she came out from behind the counter and retrieved the broom from its place in the corner. If there was time to lean, after all, then there was time to clean. She tried to link her negative emotions to the little bit of dirt and dust that she discovered, but so far? It wasn't working. What she needed was a customer to serve... or maybe just a friend to stop by and visit for a few minutes. Anything, to get her mind off of the boy that had been so mean. |

Kumiko's face became focused as Rise explained the situation to her. Teddie. Whoever he or it is needed to be stop. Even if it is the shadow, Kumiko couldn't help but feel that something big was happening around her. The fact that everyone here all had personas seemed odd to her, but she wondered about how the guy and Sarina got their personas. She very much doubted that they fell into the t.v. "Oh my god will you just shut up you asshole!" She shouted as she went up to him and delivered a great big punch to his stupid face. "Don't you dare act like that to Sarina. Get your fucking act together." She said harshly, a bitter frown plastered onto her face aimed directly at him. She was athletic and she was strong. Kumiko was very much pissed off at him and that was the last straw. Though she did feel sorry to him about his parents, that gave him no right to act like that to Sarina, an 11 year old. "Sarina-chan. I understand what you're talking about. I've got one as well. But it's a little different from yours. And sorry about that guy over there." Kumiko said to the little child, smiling at her as she said it. She always felt at ease around Sarina. She didn't know why though, but she very much enjoyed the young girl's presence. Kumiko felt protective over her, she couldn't help it. So when the the guy challenged Sarina once again, she couldn't stop herself. Boy you sure did give it to him. Alranue said surprisingly, Kumiko feeling as if a bit of praise was mixed within there as well. Turning to Rise, she gave her an apologetic look, the anger seemingly gone for now. It was an irrational thing to do, but she couldn't help it. "I'm sorry about that Rise. I couldn't help it. I know, how about we work together! My persona has some unique abilities that I don't think yours has. Maybe I could help you with something." She said happily, a smile returning to her lips as she began talking to her. "Oh and by the way, sorry about Akihiko." She said cheekily, laughing a little after saying it. Edited by Kumiko Nagasaki, Feb 9 2012, 09:38 AM.

More and more she was disliking this man. She, acting older than she was? Didn't he realize, by now, that they all had to be older than they were in order to figure out what it was that was causing this? She could not be the little girl that she appeared to be; she had to use all of her intelligence to figure out what this fog was. And he was not helping that; he was like an irritating little fly, and she wondered what to do about him, when her brain came up with an idea. Why didn't she just ignore him? After all, that's what people usually did when it came to flies, and it usually turned out just fine, so she did just that; she set out to ignore him and instead focused on what Rise said. So...her friend, called Teddie, was apparently the cause of this, having shown up on this Midnight Channel in the form of a Shadow, and speaking of a tournament of some kind. She wondered...would winning said tournament stop the fog? Probably not, because that seemed silly to her; why would winning a tournament stop the fog? Especially when it seemed likely that this Teddie was somehow related to the fog appearing. It was right around then that Kumiko seemed to flip out and swear at Yukimaru. Now, Sarina obviously wasn't one to disapprove of swearing, but she was a bit shocked to hear it coming from the normally calm and...well, mother-like Kumiko, at least to her. She really, really had to be ticked off for her to be swearing like that. Sarina knew the woman was saying it to protect her, and she appreciated that, but she didn't like hearing the sweet girl swear like a sailor. Plus she had punched the guy in the face; he probably would not take a big liking to that. Not to mention the fact that if she were this Yukimaru, god forbid, she'd probably run off right then, because she wouldn't want to be punched in the face again. But that was just her. "Kumi-chan...you didn't need to punch him. I was just gonna ignore him anyway. Besides, I don't have a problem with swearing, but...I don't like hearing you swear," Sarina said, though she did move closer to the protective female. She felt...safer with her, just as Kumiko seemed to feel protective of her. "Who is Akihiko, by the way?" Sarina asked as she moved closer, frowning. She realized she was snuffing the male out of this a little, and so glanced towards him. "Sorry about Kumi-chan...she's protective of me. I promise she won't punch you again." Sarina said cheerfully. She normally was not like this, but being with her best friend? It definitely put her in a good mood. Gods forbid, you're being nice Alice commented in her mind. |

Yukimaru tilted his head to the side so the punch hit his cheek rather than his nose. It smarted a little to say the least, but Yukimaru brushed it aside. "Well that's a new one." Yukimaru said. "Heard 'douche bag,''little bastard,''bastard,''petulant little brat,' and of course, 'son of a bitch,' any of which could quite possibly be true, but asshole is new. Lady, just because I talk shit doesn't mean I'm an asshole." Yukimaru seemed about as phased by the yelling as a rock by a thunderstorm. Yukimaru returned the bitter frown. "What makes you so special out of all the times I've been yelled at that you should make a difference? Huh?" Yukimaru asked, apathy dripping from his tone of voice. "Yeah, I'm a jerk, I'm a fuckin' jerk with too much time on his hands and a deep rooted cynicism from being kind of emotionally stunted from the age 3 because I was apparently traumatized, my parents are dead, I apparently have more than a few repressed memories, and my foster parents were overbearing." Yukimaru said, looking Kumiko straight in the eyes with a glare of apathy, "No, I'm not vying for sympathy, I'm telling you, you're an idiot if you think yelling at me and insulting me is going to do shit. Violence is such a boring response, the yelling too. People always assumes it solves everything. Tch, hasn't made a dent so far, has it? Point is, call me whatever you want, throw whatever punches you want, all you're going to do is waste energy and give me grounds for an assault charge." Yukimaru huffed out a breath now that he thought that conversation was over with. He turned back to Rise. "You seem to know a lot about it, so what exactly is the midnight channel?" Yukimaru asked. Yukimaru turned towards Sarina, a little surprised at her apology. "Er, it's . . . it's no problem . . ." Yukimaru said, a little hesitantly, this apparently wasn't a situation his was used to being in. "I was being a little to abrasive anyways." Yukimaru tacked onto the end, rather quickly. Yukimaru felt incredibly awkward after his speech to Kumiko, then that. |

Working together? Considering how teamwork was why Rise was even alive to be having this conversation, her feelings on the subject were probably pretty obvious-- namely? That it's a good thing, which was why she nodded, a bit of a smile tugging at her lips at the idea of not having to carry that particular burden alone. Many hands make light work, or so the saying goes... and she thought it'd probably be true even in a task involving none. "That's probably a good idea, yeah... although if you're limited to a certain radius like I am, then we might need to go and--" And then Kumiko decided to rub salt into the freshest mental wound that Rise had. Falling silent, the look that the former idol gave to the other young woman was utter and absolute deadpan as she struggled to not hurl a hardened block of frozen tofu at her head. Sighing after a moment, the former idol shook her head. "...I'd rather not talk about that, thanks." Forcing the subject to drop by turning her attention to Sarina-- who asked about Akihiko. Gah. Rise cleared her throat softly in an attempt to make it clear that she'd not answer such a question while more important issues were being discussed. Crushes didn't measure up to matters of life and death, ultimately-- and the fact that she was able to reach that revelation was a sign that her time in the TV World had changed her. That was also what allowed her to stay out of the squabble between Yukimari and Kumiko that followed, although she was quick to respond to the former's question in hopes of preventing another fight from starting. "It's... complicated, but the easiest way to break it down is that the people that show up on it, in clear focus and on those 'odd shows', are in another world-- and it's a lot scarier than it looks from this side of things. Those shows are actually repressed parts of the person starring on them-- so while it looks funny and entertaining on this side, it's... it's more like being trapped in your worst nightmare." Nodding to affirm that, the former idol found herself fidgeting with the end of one of her pigtails as she continued, emphasizing what came out next so as to serve as a warning to not just flippantly go into the TV World. "I'm lucky to have gotten out alive." |

Kumiko listened to Yukimura's speech, not knowing what to do. There seemed no way that she could bring this guy out of his Jerkiness and it only seemed to spur him on. She realized just how stupid she was and that this time, the problem couldn't just go away with a smile. Even Sarina was displeased by her actions, and she didn't like hurting the girl. She acted out of line, but she couldn't let that guy know. "I'm sorry Sarina-chan. I won't do that again." She said apologetically to her, a sad smile forming across her face. She then turned to Yukimura, a displeased look replacing the sad smile. "I guess I'm sorry... but it's not like I did it for you. o.k? It was for Sarina-chan. Don't get any fuzzy ideas." She said, not looking at him and putting on a face that clearly said that she was displeased. She then turned to Rise, who became deadpan whenever Akihiko was mentioned as she began to describe the odd shows. "I guess I'm lucky that I had people to help me when I fell into the t.v." She said sheepishly, sticking her tongue as she smiled embarrassingly. "I'm guessing you had people to help you too, right? I mean, it's the most logical conclusion you could draw from that." She continued to say, in a tone that suggested that she knew more than she was letting on. She knew she had help from others, but Rise never said who they were. |

Even though she had told Kumiko to not say anything more to this guy, she was kinda tempted to do so herself. After all, he was acting like a true idiot. Sure, he had said that he didn't tell them about his sob story for sympathy, but instead, he had said it to let them know his situation, that he didn't care what he called them. If he really didn't want any sympathy at all, he could have just said he didn't care what he was called, and that would have been that; no, he was lying somewhere, but she just didn't know where. She thought for a moment and decided to drop it, just as she decided to drop Akihiko, though Alice was in the back of her mind, poking and prodding her to push in that direction and find out what was being hidden. No...it would not do to inquire any further, especially when Sarina most of all needed the help of others to get anything done; if a Shadow ever got close to her physically? She would be able to do nothing save throw herself out of its way, and even then, she'd likely injure herself somehow during the way, due to her weak physical state. "Anyway...assuming Kumi-chan and this boy here don't try to murder each other, do you think you can confirm that I've got this right? Basically, the Midnight Channel shows the repressed parts of a person, essentially forcing them to live out their hidden side that they want no one to see?" Sarina questioned. She could see the value of such a place, but the drawbacks far outweighed its value; take herself, for instance. She would never want to be on the Midnight Channel, because at times, she felt she really was a weak little girl...she would not want to live out that reality, because now she had Alice. Without Alice...she would not be there right now, conversing with them, the silly Sudoku puzzles still in her hand; she had forgotten about them. "I wouldn't ever want to be in such a place...if the fog from a while ago is back, this Midnight Channel is probably back too though..." Sarina said, unable to hide the excitement in her voice; this was her chance, after all! She was getting to the source of this fog and figuring out something to do about it. From what she had gathered, everyone there had Personas, which meant that they could be a strong force if they pulled themselves together. Not to mention the two sensing-based Personas there. |

Yukimaru rolled his eyes at the displeased look on Kumiko's face. "Tsundere." was all Yukimaru said before turning back to Rise. "So a part of themselves they don't want to face basically?" Yukimaru asked, "I'm almost curious what I'm hiding just because of that. After all, I guess none of us really have any idea what's inside of us until it smacks us headlong in the face." Yukimaru had gone back to ignoring Sarina and Kumiko after his Tsundere comment. What he had said was at least partially working. Yukimaru honestly wished people would just ignore him. He's rather fade into the background than constantly be center stage. Yukimaru hoped the same strategy would make Kumiko ignore him entirely, bit realized that a frown and a nasty comment probably wouldn't be enough to get Kumiko off his back. "So the midnight channel is basically where everything that we can't remember, don't realize, or don't want to accept about ourselves go?" Yukimaru asked, "And the parts we refuse to accept manifest, get violent, and go apeshit on the original for whatever reason?" It was entirely conjecture, but it made since about why people were dying after getting thrown in. "And that's why people were dying and appearing on tv antennas?" Yukimaru asked, "I'd say you're insane, but I totally believe this after having watched the midnight channel. Seems like weird-ass place." |

Now that the former idol managed to steer the conversation away from the disaster in the rain, she could properly focus on the matter at hand; namely? Sharing some of her experiences with the Midnight Channel and the serial killer from the year before without going into too much detail. It wasn't that Rise didn't trust the other Persona users-- although Yukimaru was wearing thin on her patience-- more that she knew that she had to be vague while they were somewhere that, at any moment, someone that wasn't a Persona-user could walk in. And since there wasn't the same level of background noise as there would've been at the food court? Yeah, it was better to play it safe. Besides, judging by the tone that Kumiko was using... she knew more than she was letting on, thanks to her Persona rooting around in the former idol's head. For the sake of the others present, though, Rise nodded in response to her question, waiting until both Kumiko and Sarina had spoken before responding to them both at the same time. "Yes, yes I did-- and once I recovered, I became one of the people that helped others get out alive. And... that's a simple way of putting it, yes. The focus was always on people that others were really curious about, though-- locals, that had been in the news." That was an important detail, one that the former idol had to get out there about the original circumstances. "As for the Midnight Channel, so far I've only heard of one broadcast-- and it was of a friend of mine." Rise faintly frowned at that, her concern obvious. She didn't get the chance to linger upon her worries and fears, though, since Yukimaru decides to jump in and get involved in the conversation once again. Her gaze turned to him as she nods, softly. "That's one way of putting it, yeah-- and probably the easiest way to understand it. And I'm not sure why those repressed parts go... crazy on the person they came from, but that's what happens. As for the TV antennas... the best I could ever figure out was that their deaths threw their bodies back into this world somehow, and that's where they landed." She shrugged. |

"I am not a Tsundere!" She exclaimed at Yukimura, as a luminescent blush appeared on her face. What the hell is wrong with me? She thought to herself as she felt the blush appearing. No way. Nuh uh. That was not going to happen. How could she fall in love with someone like him? She could feel herself slapping Yukimura as she continued to try to hide her blush. She'd never acted like this before. Stupid person. Why did she like him? He's so annoying and he is such a downer, it's not like he's good for anything at all. He complains way too much and his hair is this weird white that makes him look co-. "What the hell is wrong with me!!!!" She exclaimed to herself, not realizing that she had actually shouted out loud. The familiar blush reappeared on her face when she realized what had just happened. "Umm... That was nothing. Yeah! Aboslutely nothing. I sure wasn't thinking about the b-" She continued to say, stopping herself just when she realized what she was about to say. She squealed again as she hit Yukimura once again. It was his fault that she was acting like this. Just what the hell was his problem!? Did he like seeing her like this? You really like him, don't you? Alranue said mockingly to her. Shut up you. I do not like him. She thought back staunchly, a pout forming across her face. You can't hide anything from me. For I am thou and thou art I. Alranue replied, giggling as her voice disappeared. How dare she say something like that! For Kumiko Nagasaki to be in love with that Kuudere! How ridiculous! Kumiko was so bothered, she was only partially listening to the conversation the others were having. "So ummm.... Is there anything I can do to help?" She said quietly, purposely not looking at Yukimura as she addressed Rise. God this was so embarrassing. |

Was the man meaning to be a fool? Yes, they knew what their inner selves were like, or at least a part of what their inner selves were like; they all had Persona after all, which were supposed to be a part of themselves, a representation of what they were like on the inside. For indeed, Sarina could definitely be like Alice at times, such as when she was snarky; she was definitely like Alice when she was like that. Or when she got frustrated with others, though that was something she and Alice shared in common, for different reasons though. Alice looked down upon others, while Sarina simply didn't like being around crowds, and therefore people, in general. Kumiko's sudden outburst about not being a tsundure, however, broke her out of her thoughts and caused her to quirk an eyebrow up as she stared at her friend, who at that point seemed to have lost all sanity. "Kumi-chan...uh...I don't know how to say this gently, but have you lost it?" Sarina asked cautiously, her eyebrow still raised; she couldn't help BUT ask that question, considering the girl had just shouted out, something about wondering what was wrong with her...at that point, a lot seemed to be wrong with her. "Awkward..." Sarina muttered once Kumiko seemed to calm down, having denied the fact that she had been thinking about Yukimaru even though it was obvious she had been. The way she had just been about to say boy and the fact that she had flushed so easily after he had said she was a tsundure was evidence enough for Sarina. With a sigh, the young girl turned back to Rise, deciding to save herself the headache of figuring out why older people did what they did; which was, namely, be crazy. "So...Kumi-chan does have a point though. Is there anything we can do to stop the fog now that it's coming back?" Sarina asked of Rise, a serious expression on her face as she ignored the oddities that had just happened; it was odd that what had happened a while back had only happened to local celebrities. |
