There were times that Rise missed fame.

No, really-- there were. The glitz, the glamour, the cheering fans and the adoring masses... but it all came with a price that, for now? It was all far too high for her to pay it. Maybe once she was a bit more mature, she'd try again-- but for now? She was enjoying a more mundane existence. Sure, every now and then she still got asked for an autograph... but it had largely calmed down from the frenzy that had occured when she first arrived in Inaba. Having the time to reflect on what had led to her being burnt out on the verge of self-destructing was probably the most valuable thing she had... and so she was doing just that, a pink pen moving over the journal she's got propped up on her knees as she sits on the steps leading up to Tatsuhime Shrine. It was a spot that allowed her some level of privacy while also giving her the chance to enjoy the sunlight, a rarity now that the fog had begun to show up on a more regular basis.

Her pigtails blew about her in the breeze as she wrote, her eyes glued onto the page in front of her as she works. Dressed today in a floral print, halter-style top that was done in shades of yellow and orange, she's got on a pair of denim shorts instead of her usual white capris since the last thing she wanted was to get too much dirt on the rear end of her favorite bottoms. Simple white sandals upon her feet, she hummed some song or another she'd heard on the radio to herself as she worked. Empty Spaces, she thought it'd been called-- some hit from the States from years ago. It had been oddly catchy.

I'm not afraid... to go backwards, fix what we broke...

And the more she thought about it? That summed up how she felt about her time in the spotlight. Even now, with her mind ensnared in the past that had nearly broken her... there was a lot more she could learn, and could teach others now that she thought about it. Hopefully, someday, she'd be able to share what she'd learned with the world-- see if she could save some other girl with stars in her eyes and big dreams from the same pitfalls she had stumbled into.

"I might need thicker skin, but that doesn't give you license to be such an assbutt!"

Crossing her arms over her chest, Rise let out an indignant 'Hmph!' that was probably more adorable in a childlike way than she would've liked. As it turned out, she didn't really need to worry about being all that upset for much longer since Akihiko did explain just where his laughter had come from-- and it was something that the former idol could understand. It was a ludicrous life, being famous... although he'd never quite get just how ridiculous it was. The only way to get the full picture was to go on the ride themselves-- and she wouldn't wish the dark side of the coin on her worst enemy. His question, though, about laughing because of the world ending?

"...can't say I have. When we were faced with the end of the world, we were too busy coming up with a way to stop it to laugh. It was... not fun."

Allowing her arms to relax and to fall to her sides, she shook her head at the memory of the group all scrambling to get their ducks in a row to take on Izanami, months after they'd thought their fight to be over. She still missed Yu... but her crush on him had faded, leaving an opening for Akihiko. Gawd, what was it with her and boys with whitish-silver hair? That was something she'd need to figure out later. Taking Akihiko's words as an apology, she nodded, falling into stride beside him all over again... and taking his elbow, to boot. He wasn't gonna get out of properly escorting her like the lady she was so easily, after all. Since he didn't apologize aloud, she didn't accept it aloud... letting her actions speak instead. As for her words, well-- he brought up an interesting possibility.

"You think so..? Huh. I wouldn't have the slightest idea how to do it, though-- and once in a blue moon. That's the advantage of being in a small town... since I grew up here, they treat me no different than anyone else."

Ass... butt? No one had called Akihiko assbutt before. What did that even mean? Wasn't that... repetitive? Unless ass meant donkey, then... God, was he so out of sync with the social network that he needed to analyze a derogatory word? And now she was 'hmph'ing at him. She was worse than a rabid monkey with her screeches and grunts. Akihiko had seen a couple of those--they could tear another monkey into pieces in an instant.

It seemed to fit Rise as a metaphor quite nicely.

When she relayed information about her end-of-the-world experience, Akihiko had nothing to say. Every experience was different and everyone reacted to end-world scenarious differently. Sanada? He'd just smile and prepare himself for the fight. If the world was going to end, he might as well kick some ass before it went. He couldn't imagine trying to come up with a plan to stop it that didn't involved fighting. He wasn't about to ask about it, however, given Rise's disposition on the matter.

Akihiko shrugged. "It's not that hard to lift her your leg and put force behind it, Rise. You'd already done it with a shadow hand." Sanada didn't know what it was like to grow up in a small town. With their completely different upbringings, he wasn't sure how to respond to the answer. While embarrassed she was clinging to his elbow yet again, he picked up his pace to wherever her home was to help his embarrasment end quicker.

Uncomfortable silences sucked too. Might as well keep with the topic. "Did you ever have any bodyguards?" Oh, wait a minute. He could pick her brain! "Did they specialize in a certain technique that aided in your safety? Surely they had to have been built for speed... Though strength training would have to be essential. Hm. Any examples of their abilities in action?"

"I did... didn't I? Huh. I guess I'm not so helpless after all."

This idea pleased the former idol, a bit of a smile tugging at her lips. She found herself subtly slowing her stride just a touch-- enough to hopefully force Akihiko into walking at just a normal pace. Really, he always seemed to be in such a hurry when life in a small town moved so much slower. Learning some patience would do him a world of good, she decided... although she didn't share that aloud. Rather, she continued the conversation.

"I imagine there's right and wrong ways of doing it, though, so that I don't hurt myself-- y'know, like in dancing. Any pointers?"

And then he's asking her about her security force when she had been on tour. A brow quirked as she looked up at him, trying to figure out just what he wanted to know for... before she figured it out. Bodyguards for celebrities were tasked with quite the important task indeed, now that she thought about it-- so that meant that they needed to be able to defend their charges viciously.

"Yeah, I had a few... although I wouldn't call them nimble. They were all massive men, about as big as two or three of you put together. As for how they protected me, they went with the wall of humanity approach, just... surrounding me, y'know? It was all the more they ever had to do."

A pause; her brow furrowed as she did her best to think of any other details. She largely came up empty, unfortunately, but she'd share what little she had gleaned.

"I'm glad that they never had to protect me from a knife-wielding stalker or anything like that, truthfully. I... think a couple of them mentioned knowing judo, but that's all I can remember."

Pointers? "Don't kick things that can kick back." Wasn't that just common sense or was she expecting more? Akihiko really didn't know anything about kicking. He might have dabbled in kick-boxing, but that was only to enhance his knowledge about boxing in general. Keeping aloof as always without intending to do so, he continued to walk on, eyes straight ahead.

As she explained herself and her bodyguards, Akihiko found himself disappointed. He should have known the type of bodyguards an idol would have would be giant men. They lacked true skill then, preferring to intimidate through appearance rather than ability. He would have clicked his tongue if he thought to do it. Instead he thought only how the bodyguards couldn't have dealt with a situation that would escalate out of control. Maybe that was why in places like the U.S. the President's bodyguards weren't overgrown meat-heads.

He didn't say anything, trying to hide his disappointment. It seemed whenever he spoke to Rise about technique, she'd answer in the most unsatisfactory ways. "Are we almost there?" He was silent a few moments before he voiced the question. He found it hard to... talk to her sometimes. With Mitsuru they could talk about strategy or their past; with the others they were all linked with battles and histories. With Rise, she was so far off from what he was used to, he found himself growing uncomfortable in the silence. He felt awkward in not knowing what to talk about. Others he could just blow off, but Rise was as persistent as a mosquito constantly buzzing in his ears.

What did girls like to talk about? Their hair? Akihiko couldn't care less. He didn't even know the difference between a perm and curling or... whatever. Wasn't curling a sport? Anyways. Clothes? He sort of already did that with the skirt and all. He supposed there was one other option to pass the time. "So... are you... seeing anyone?" That was a safe question, right? A platonic enough inquiry. Maybe Rise would reveal she was hooked with an international spy given her past fame. Now that would be up Akihiko's path of intrigue.

But just as soon as he said it, he shook his head. "Nevermind. Your place isn't too far, right? I need to get back to my patrol, but I'll stick around this area for a few to make sure you made it." Best to cut off the conversation before it got more awkward than it did. Giving Rise a half-hearted wave, Akihiko changed his direction and continued on a shadow-hunting patrol.
