Okina Station, May 29th 1:30 PM Okina Station was the 'hotspot' that people from Inaba went to. It had an assortment of stores, theaters, restaurants, and any other attractions that would lure teenagers to the brighter and livelier atmosphere. It also happened to have a quaint little fabric store that Kanji got all his supplies for sewing at. No that he really pointed this out to anyone. Regardless of that fact, he wasn't in Okina Station to buy fabrics. He had been at school and had planned on finishing out the day without complaint. The day had dragged on in the early morning but there wasn't anything he could complain about outside of the norm. Then lunchtime came around and Rise found him in the hall. Somehow that conversation led them out of the school and off to Okina Station. It hadn't been his idea but he had gone along with it since. It took very little to convince Kanji to skip school since he never wanted to be there. He wasn't sure what had possessed Rise to drag him along. To be perfectly honest he had been in a bit of a daze and not really paying attention to the conversation in the hall when it happened. He recalled just agreeing to go with her and that's what led them to Okina. Their train screeched to a stop and people started filtering out of the train, like an overpacked can of sardines split opened and the contents spilling out. Kanji hung back until the mass was less of a hassle before he started off the train. "Uh... So... why'd ya make me skip again?" He felt vaguely uncomfortable with the idea that Rise brought him along for the sole purpose of carrying her bags. He remembered an experience not too long ago where he had faced such a fate with Yu-Senpai and Yosuke-Senpai. For once, skipping hadn't been his fault but Rise's. If anyone complained or wanted to place blame on one of them, it would all be on her. "Not that it matters, it beats school." This reminder brought a grin to his face. Oh how he loved getting out of that place early. School should get out at twelve everyday, in his opinion. Edited by Kanji Tatsumi, Mar 9 2012, 02:05 PM.

To be honest, Rise hadn't planned on skipping school either. She'd been content to doodle in the margins of her notebook, little hearts and flowers and the like, while her mind wandered over the events that had transpired between herself and a certain silver-haired SEES member... but then she'd wound up talking to the one person that she felt comfortable spilling all of the beans to. The exact train of thought was lost to her memory, but she didn't really care; all that mattered is that it's just her and Kanji on that train, meaning she'd be able to tell him everything without anyone else having to know. She even knew that he'd keep his mouth shut-- the most important part of things, all things considered. Of course, how they could kid around with each other a little sure didn't hurt. Even though it probably wouldn't budge him so much as an inch, Rise lightly nudged the punk with her shoulder as the train emptied out, leaving them with a clear path to make their exit. "I didn't make you do a darn thing, Kanji-Kun. You're the one that didn't even try to say no." Poking her tongue out at him, the former idol chuckled as she stepped off of the train right behind him, her hand taking his arm at the elbow in a familiar touch. As small as she is compared to the rest of the people on the platform, it came as no surprise that she'd physically anchor herself to the person she had come to Okina Station with. She kept close behind him as they emerged from the station, not saying much until they're out from the crush of people. "But I asked you to come with me for two reasons. One, you've got a surprisingly sharp eye for fashion that rivals a lot of the stylists I've worked with... an for two?" A pause; she looked up at him, her nerves bright and clear in her eyes. He'd know that look from the last time she'd talked about matters of the heart with him, back when she'd needed him to be a sounding board for her moving on from Yu. "There's a lot that's happened on the semi-somewhat-romantic front that I need to decompress about or else I'm gonna scream." |

Did he have a sharp eye for fashion? He didn't really know. He just said what came to mind with some sort of things. The hem is too short/long. The stitching doesn't work. The colors clash. A back stitch would have held up to the stress as opposed to pinch stitching. Such things seemed fairly obvious to Kanji since he grew up with such things. He supposed he figured everyone knew such things when it came to clothing. If that makes him fashion savvy then he supposed that's a good thing. Granted, it's not like he makes fashion statements with the metal in his face and the clothing he wears. When they managed to get away from the swarm of people, Rise was giving him 'that look'. The look that immediately made him uncomfortable to be around for any situation. It made him recall all the times she would constantly talk about Yu-Senpai and how he was perfect for her or whatever nonsense. To be honest, he blanked out most of the time she went on about it. The girl was an idol that had captured the hearts of many men when she was very popular. She had a habit of trying to obtain the unobtainable it seemed. He shifted on his feet and immediately wished that Rise wasn't anchored on his arm. Uh... okay." He responded lamely. He didn't know what help he could be. He wasn't... he never... he had his own issues with the romantic front that never got settled because he never knew how to go about trying to settle them. The 'romantic front' just put him in uncomfortable situations that he would rather avoid. That and it gave ammo against him from certain key friends in the circle he has. He supposed this shouldn't come as a surprise though. Yu-Senpai was back. They had just encountered him a couple of days ago. "This 'bout Yu-Senpai again? I mean... Uh... maybe you should, I dunno... say something to him?" He couldn't think of anyone else she could be having trouble with. The only person she seemed to have ever spoken about in great length was Yu-Senpai but not lately. |

Oh, but he did make fashion statements with what he wore and what piercings he had... and that statement was usually 'Leave me the fuck alone or else I'll rearrange your face.' It's only on account of the TV World that Rise knew that the guy behind the leather and the studs was a big ol' softie at heart, as loyal a friend as one could ask for once she got past his hard outer shell. If only she could get him to open up a little to the rest of the world... then his own romantic problems would cease. That's part of why she's brought him along-- to help broaden his horizons, maybe show him that his knowledge and skill with fabric could take him far beyond sleepy little Inaba if only he'd give it a whirl. Keeping her grip on his arm, Rise couldn't help but chuckle sheepishly at how Kanji assumed that she needed to talk about Yu. Not that she could blame him, of course-- there'd been a time where she'd talked the poor boy's ear off about their former leader. That had been... a simpler time, she realized, back when the world was black and white instead of nothing but varying shades of gray. It's amazing, how meeting one person could throw one's entire existence into a different light... but she couldn't make the change alone, not and stay sane. "No, Kanji-Kun. It's... not about Yu-Sempai. I'll always care about him, but not like that. It's... more complicated than that." Then who could it be about? The former idol sighed as she guided her friend over to a smoothie stand. There's a few people in line ahead of them-- perfect, then, for what she had in mind. If Rise told Kanji everything right off the bat, well... she's fairly sure he'd go on some sort of rampage. Best to build it up bit by bit. "Remember how I said that I'd encountered the fog and Shadows in the street?" Which she had, at the gathering Yu had held when he'd returned to town. "When I did, I met a Persona-user that I'd never seen before..." She trails off as she sighs softly, the memory of those flashing gray eyes and that rain-slicked skin both making her shiver and cringe at the same time. |

It wasn’t about Yu-Senpai? Well that was a complete shocker right there. Kanji had felt it had been a pretty obvious thing seeing how Yu-Senpai was back and all. It should have been the reunion of kindred lover spirits or whatever they would be referred to as. See? Kanji doesn’t know jack about this kind of thing. ”Not Yu-Senpai? Then who else is there?” God, he hoped she hadn’t developed something for Yosuke-Senpai. He considered Rise smart—okay, that was a lie. He considered Rise smarter then himself, so he didn’t think she’d be stupid enough to develop some sort of crush on Yosuke. It’s not that Kanji hates Yosuke-senpai, he just didn’t really see him as the type that would actually suit Rise. Well, he wasn’t even sure what type Yosuke was to be perfectly honest; blundering buffoon would be the best description Kanji could pick for the older boy. ”Uh… yeah.” He vaguely recalled her mentioning it at the meeting. Like usual though, those meetings involved him daydreaming or just completely ignoring the conversation at hand. It’s not that he didn’t care what they had to say, it was that he had focus issues. He probably had that thing… that thing with the focus issue that’s a problem with other kids. Yeah, that thing, the thing he can’t think of but knows of it. He blames that. ”Yeah?” Another persona user that she hadn’t seen before. It was safe to say that if she hadn’t seen this persona user before then neither had Kanji. ”Huh… I don’t recall you mentioning that at the meeting.” Not that he recalled much of what was said at the meeting. "Wait... so this new persona user is who you have a thing for now?" Their turn came up at the smoothie stand (when had they even gotten there? He didn’t notice), so he had to quickly come up with his order when the vendor was patiently waiting for one. ”Uh…strawberry banana smoothie. And… whatever she wants.” He pointed his thumb at Rise as he took out his wallet, ready to pay. Edited by Kanji Tatsumi, Mar 11 2012, 12:40 AM.

Rise had moved on from Yu when he had moved away from town... and she'd heard of his, ah, exploits with some of the girls at school. The idea of being with a potential player-- when added to how he'd wound up inspiring an older sibling sort of feeling after Adachi was arrested-- had done that crush in quick, fast, and in a hurry. The same pitfall had done in the quick crush that she'd had on Kanji himself, as a matter of fact-- and Yosuke? Well... she'd never even considered the idea, so she wouldn't know how to feel about that. It's not the past that she needed to talk about, though, so she pushed it aside with a sigh and a nod at Kanji's last question. "His name's Akihiko, and... well, it's a long story." God, was it ever. Thankfully, they reach the front of the line at the exact time that she was hoping they would-- before she could get too far into the story that she knew she'd wind up spilling to the punk. Without even thinking about it, she offers up that megawatt smile to the vendor... whom promptly looked a little starstruck. "Hi-hi-hi~! I'd like a triple berry smoothie-- with a shot of the energy powder mixed in, if you'd be so kind." Watching with satisfaction as the vendor set about making their drinks with a near-eager pace, she looked over at Kanji and smiled at the sight of him digging out his wallet. So thoughtful, he was...it made her wonder just how anyone could ever find him intimidating. Then again, he had already been a member of the Investigational Team when she had met him, so that could be considered as the reason why. Either way... she chuckled softly, shaking her head. "I'm not entirely sure that you'll need that, Kanji-Kun. Thanks, though, for the thought." And then, just because she wanted to try to butter up the punk a bit before she dropped one Hell of a realization on him? She nimbly popped up onto her tippy-toes and kissed his cheek, ignoring the jealous looks that were surely sent his way. Even if her fame was fading, after all, Rise knew she was a pretty girl... and he'd just gotten a gesture of affection from her. |

Akihiko. Hmm... Did he even want to know what kind of a long story a long story was for Rise-chan? He knows it involved shadows so it probably involved fighting them. Actually, that was something he hadn't realized till just now. She had encountered shadows out in the fog on her own, with none of the other members of the investigation team. Her persona wasn't battle orientated, it was more of a strategist for the rest of the persona world to exploit to their advantage if she'd lend her aid. The fact that she had been caught on her own was a pretty bad thing considering. Her persona couldn't fight from his knowledge, and Rise was pretty weak on her own. Damn, it was a good thing somebody had been around that helped her out when they did. They could have lost Rise. Rise started doing that acting thing when she gave her order. He never really liked the way her voice seemed to get a few pitches higher when she did it. He supposed that being famous got their perks since Rise was able to get them into places with no trouble, like that place in Tatsumi Port Island. She wanted energy powder mixed into her drink and she gave a weary glance over to his companion. Did she really need the extra energy at the moment? No. She basically told him to put his money away. She apparently felt that her fame was enough payment for the vendor to begin with. In other words, she wanted to steal the drinks. Kanji may look like a punk, may act like a punk, hell he may even be a punk. But what he isn't is a thief. The trouble he got himself into involved getting into fights with gangs or shouting really loud at officers. It was expected from cops that he never paid for his food from Aiya but he always did. So, needless to say, he wasn't going to mooch off of Rise-chan's fame. He kept his wallet out. "Damnit Rise-chan." He said with embarrassment as his entire face flared up. He had to turn away from her to take care of the blood that decided to trickle down his nose a little. Rise was a friend, but she was still a girl. Not his type (even if he didn't know what his type was) but that still didn't mean he was comfortable about having a girl's lips on any part of his body. Once he cleaned up, the vendor placed their smoothies down on the countertop and Kanji tried giving him the money. The starstruck moron didn't appear to want it though. "Take the god damn money, jerk-off." Kanji shouted before slapping the money down on the counter. He grabbed his smoothie, Rise's arm, and hauled her away from the stand before the bastard could say anything about it. He could choke on the money for all Kanji cared about. "Ya know, ya shouldn't take advantage of people. S'not right." He grumbled to himself. He realized that when people got fame they had privileges or something. He just didn't like it. Why should they get special treatment and not the rest of the world? It was all really stupid in his mind. |

Oh yes... the story involving her encounter with the Shadows was one that Kanji needs to hear, for more reasons than one. Thinking about it, the enigmatic boxer that saved her that day was quite a lot like Kanji-- or, at least, they were in the terms of their Persona and their fighting style being so very smash-mouth. The punk was far nicer, and far less closed-minded and stubborn and just so much less ugh. She knew that he would probably flip his lid when she told him about everything that happened, since she wasn't going to omit any details this time around. No matter how unflattering it might be, she had to tell the entire story to someone before she burst... and since Kanji's the closest thing she has to a female friend? Then that meant he would have to do. Here's hoping he wouldn't freak out too badly-- and he already was over her taking advantage of her former fame in an attempt to save him a few bucks. Crap. "Kanj--" She didn't even get the chance to so much as try to explain what she was thinking before he was slamming money down on the counter and dragging her off, the former idol barely having the time to snag her own frozen fruit confection. Now people were staring for an altogether different reason... meaning that her attempt to soften the punk up had backfired, irritating her a little in the process. Reminding herself that it was her fault for making an incorrect leap of logic, the thought calmed her ire down a little. When she responded to his grumbling, though, there was still a bit of lingering bitterness in her tone-- and hopefully, the reason why would be rather obvious. "Why not? I mean, they were more than content to take advantage of me when I was an idol..." A pause; the former idol sighed, shaking her head as Kanzeon shifted in her mind just so. Truly, her Persona could be more like her conscience at times. "You're right, though, since two wrongs don't make it cool. Sorry. I was just trying to... well, y'know." Hopefully he'd get what she was trying to say. The redhead took a sip of her smoothie as she fell into step next to him, her hand taking hold of his elbow the same as she did before. After swallowing, she changed the subject-- or, rather, she went back to the one that they were talking about before they were interrupted by the whole smoothie thing. "But yeah... I was walking home from school when I rounded a corner and had that feeling in the back of my mind. That... pins and needles sort of feeling that I'd get when we got near Shadows in the TV world." |

She was still caught up in the whole ‘people taking advantage of the idol’ thing. Honestly, Kanji didn’t know what her life was like and he probably would never be able to fathom it. He always assumed that being famous would suck major balls because reporters and all those other publicity people basically breathe down all the idol’s shoulders for any juicy gossip they can find. If they couldn’t handle it then they shouldn’t have become idols in the first place or just should do something else. Sides, from what Kanji gathered, kids idolized Risette, people like Nana-chan. Rise should be setting a good example for the kids, at the very least, not getting back at people. At least, that’s his opinion on the matter. ”Jus’ don’t do that stuff for me. People prolly think I bullied you into getting me stuff.” With his track record it would be no surprise. Technically he didn’t even care if people would think that. He dealt with enough crap like that in his life that it just brushed right pass him. She fell into step with him shortly after he started on his smoothie while she went on to continue her story. She described the pins and needles feeling. A feeling he is all too familiar with to forget. Anyone involved with the TV World knew that feeling. Even someone as unobservant as Kanji picked up on that ‘spidey-sense’ type feeling when shadows were nearby. He remembered at the rendezvous that everyone was talking about the midnight channel and shadows. Honestly, Kanji hadn’t gotten anything like everyone else. When the whole case business was over, he threw his television in the garbage that had been in his room. He never wanted to look at another television again. Most days and nights he had spent in his room working on things as well. ”Yeah… sounds like I’m the only one outta the loop on this whole thing.” He trailed off. It was a familiar feeling, being left behind in conversation and not really knowing what the hell is going on. He had a hard time paying attention to important discussions mainly because it typically involved large worlds he didn’t understand. He was never part of the ‘investigation’ in the ‘investigation team’. No, his only concern was for everyone to tell him what to hit and he smashed it. That’s all he ever needed to know. ”So what happened next?” |
