Senkoku quietly sat down for lunch. He was sitting on his own, partially because he didn't know anyone, partially because he was a little nervous to randomly sit with someone he didn't know, not that he showed that latter at all. Senkoku opened his lunch, which he had quickly packed at home that morning, somewhat haphazardly. All the lunch consisted of was some tofu and some rice. Senkoku snapped the chop sticks he had brought with him apart and silently started eating. Senkoku soon became lost in his thoughts as he ate his lunch, ending up reflecting back on earlier that morning.

Since it was his first day at the new school, Senkoku had stood up at the front of the class to be introduced to the class. He had quietly introduced himself with his full name, then he had picked an unoccupied seat and sat down. It had been simple to the point, though he wondered if he had maybe come off as kind of cold or aloof. Senkoku was ripped out of his thoughts by someone sitting down within his vicinity. Senkoku looked up from his lunch and at the person who had inadvertently interrupted his thought process, then asked, in a tone brimming with a lack of emotion, "Can I help you?"

Mondays... sucked. There was no other way to describe how he felt about mondays in general. It was the beginning of the school week which meant five more days of hell after it until he gets a day off. He was one of the students that felt the 'Monday Blues' whenever the school week started. His ass dragged during the day and time seemed to go slower during the second half of the day. Like the clock was teasing him by slowing down time on the last few hours of school so that it would seem the day was longer then necessary.

Lunch time came and Mondays always made the lunch break seem to go by so quickly so that it the day can continue dragging it's ass. He went to the roof with his boxed lunch because that's where everyone seemed to go for lunch. His mother packed him a lunch because he always fail to do so on his own (likely because he doesn't get out of bed until the last possible moment). People were on the roof but a lot of them were keeping to themselves. There were a couple together sharing a lunch with one another in the far corner of the roof. Kanji, for personal reasons, opted to go as far away from them as possible; especially since they started kissing.

He took a seat and glanced into his boxed lunch. He didn't get much of a chance before someone spoke to him. He turned his head and glanced to the guy sitting next to him. Kanji has never seen him before, but he didn't like the question. It was far too pissy in his mind. Sounded, to Kanji, that the guy was irritated that he had sat there. Well, Kanji will just have to make something perfectly clear with him. "You ain't go no monopoly of this damn spot, asshole. You don't like me being here then you can move somewhere else. Otherwise, shut up and eat your damn food like a normal person." God he hated Mondays. He never met this guy before but Kanji already had the impression that he's an asshole. He growled and dug into his boxed lunch to pull out a fried rice ball.

(Wasn't sure if he was on the roof or not, but I assumed so since in P4 everyone eats on the roof it seems LOL)

Someone's irritated. Senkoku thought to himself. He hardly needed to use his empathic abilities to figure that one out. "I didn't mean anything by that." Senkoku said. "There's no need to be so aggressive about a simple question. I'm sorry if I inadvertently offended you." Senkoku detested fighting, so he let it go and simply did as Kanji said, he sat there quietly and ate his lunch. He hadn't packed to much for a lack of food in the house, so he ate painstakingly slowly just to make the food last. Senkoku eventually decided to break the somewhat awkward silence. "My name is Senkoku Hoshizuki. I just transferred here today from Gion." Senkoku said. "Who are you?"

Senkoku looked down at his half finished lunch. The tofu was already gone, and that was the last he had. He had brought some with him from home. "Do you know where I could buy some tofu? Maybe a shop in the shopping district?" Senkoku asked. He hadn't gotten acquainted enough with Inaba to know about Marukyu. Senkoku was trying to make friendly small talk with Kanji, which might have been a little jarring since he said it with a voice and face devoid of emotion. While he waited for a response, Senkoku went back to eating his rice.

The kid apologized; although he had a tone of voice that put Kanji on edge. Like the type that some of the teachers have as they stand up in front of the class and lecture all day. Completely neutral. Those classes are spent with his head on the desk and fast asleep. Maybe this guy would eventually grow up and being one of those boring ass teachers that he detested so much. He already had the voice for such a thing if such a thing actually mattered or was a qualification.

Kanji didn’t apologize for snapping at him because, well, let’s be perfectly honest, Kanji barely apologized to anyone unless they were a friend of his. The guy seemed to take his advice and be quiet and enjoy his lunch so Kanji did the same. He figured that would be the last of conversation between the two of them. Most people tended to avoid speaking with Kanji for obvious reasons. He’s not easy to talk to and he doesn’t give off a very social-able aura either.

So needless to say, when the boy introduced himself after the silent moments ticked on by, it was a bit surprising; albeit, a bit irritating. Senkoku Hoshizuki. Hadn’t heard of him before but he mentioned that he had just transferred here from Gion. Wherever that is. Kanji hadn’t been outside of Inaba often and knows very little about other places. ”Tatsumi, Kanji.” He offered his name since it was asked. It wasn’t often that he had to introduce himself at school. Most everyone knew of him because of his reputation.

He went back to eating but not much time passed before Senkoku started speaking once more. This time about where he could get tofu in Inaba. ”Rise’s shop sells tofu.” He wasn’t sure if that helped any. He knew it wasn’t called that but for the life of him, Kanji couldn’t remember the name of the shop. He viewed it as ‘Rise’s shop’ since they were friends and never worried about what other name it had. ”It’s uh… near Aiya?”

He was never good at giving directions. Did Senkoku even know where Aiya was? That was the best he could do really. After a moment Kanji had a question of his own, ”What year are you?” He supposed he was wondering if he was speaking to a guy who was the same year as him, or if he was in his class. It was possible they were in the same class and Kanji had just missed it. At the same time he wasn’t sure he really cared all that much and was just asking for the sake of trying to show some semblance of politeness.

Senkoku nodded a little. He didn't really know where Aiya was, but he would figure that out later. He didn't have the name of the shop, but at least he now knew two things. There was a tofu shop and that shop was near a place called Aiya. Something then clicked into his brain about what Kanji had said. "Bye Rise, do you mean Rise Kujikawa?" Senkoku asked. He didn't pay all too much attention to pop culture, but he at least recognized Rise. That should make things easier to find. It wasn't easy to miss an Idol Singer at a Tofu shop. Kanji didn't make Senkoku all that uneasy. He typically gave people the benefit of the doubt, so he tended not to judge people by how intimidating they did actually look.

"I'm a Second Year." Senkoku said. "I'm going to take a wild guess and say you're First or Second." He appreciated the attempt at politeness at least. Better than the treatment he typically got back home. Senkoku adjusted the goggles he was wearing around his neck just a little bit. "Have any hobbies?" Senkoku asked. Senkoku liked working on cars, but he wouldn't say that unless Kanji asked, be it out of politeness or genuine interest. Senkoku also wondered who exactly did the modifications on Kanji's clothes.

"Uh.. yeah." He knew Rise Kujikawa? It took Kanji a moment to realize that he probably only knew of Rise due to the whole fame thing rather then knowing her. He always tended to forget that Rise was a bit of an idol before she came to Inaba. It's probably because he never really paid much attention to that kind of thing so when they went to visit her when she first came here, he hadn't been as excited as say... Yosuke. He had been excited by the fact he was going to meet a famous person in general, not excited for who he was going to visit. Yosuke-senpai on the other hand, had nearly wet himself the first time they spoke to Rise.

Senkoku-Senpai was a second year, not a first like Kanji. That would also explain why he had never seen him before. If he had been a first year like Kanji, Kanji would have seen him in one of his classes introducing himself to the class. Well, in theory anyway, so long as Kanji was actually awake for the introduction. "Yeah." He grumbled in response and then realized that it wasn't really a good answer, "First." That actually answered the question even though it hadn't been a question. He had stated that Kanji was either first or second but it was still a question of sorts. He supposed. Saying 'yeah' to that statement alone didn't really help anything.

When Senkoku-senpai asked him if he had any hobbies, Kanji hesitated. He shifted in his seat uncomfortably for a moment as he contemplated how to answer the question. Why did he even have to ask that? Did it look like he had any hobbies? Kanji thought he looked like the type that didn't do anything. "No. I don't do nothing." He obviously had poor grammar. "There ain't a whole lot in Inaba to do. Leaves ya with nothing to do." Inaba was a whole lot of nothing in his mind.

"I hardly believe you don't do anything," Senkoku said, "everyone does something in their spare time. I like to work on cars." Senkoku was sharing a surprising bit of information abotu himself. He rarely told anyone this much, mostly because he didn't really have anyone to talk to, well at least he didn't back home. Senkoku could sense that the question had somehow made Kanji uneasy. "Is it something you don't want to talk about? I'm certain it's nothing worth trying to hide." Senkoku said. He wouldn't pry if Kanji said that he didn't do anything again. No point in trying to get a clam out of shell that refuses to open.

"Sometimes having nothing to do is a blessing." Senkoku said. That was why Senkoku had come to Inaba in the first place. He wanted the piece and quiet over the hustle and bustle of Gion. It was certainly nice to not have any of the tourists running around. Perhaps Inaba only had that sort of charm to Senkoku because he was from a much larger city with a large population. "You don't even have time to let yourself breathe where I'm from, there's too much to do there." Senkoku said.

Of course he didn't believe him. Everyone had something to do even if it was work. That didn't mean Kanji was about to let him know what he does as a hobby/job. "Whatever. It's nothing." He stated again and took a bite of his friend rice ball. End of discussion. At least that's what Kanji had in mind. He didn't just tell anyone what he did. If he mouthed off what his hobby is to everyone who asked him then he'd probably be the one getting laughed at by everyone in the school. He already had enough problems as it is without people knowing he knew how to work a needle.

When he heard that having nothing to do was a blessing sometimes. Well, Kanji snorted his disagreement. Senkoku-senpai had obviously not been in Inaba very long or he wouldn't be saying such things with ease. Soon enough he'll resort to going where all the other students go--Okina. The only real hotspot close enough to Inaba to go to. "Yeah, nothin's good. A whole lots of nothing surrounded by a whole lot of other nothin'. You get to wake up to nothin', go through your day with nothin' to do, and end your night with nothin'. Might as well not get out of bed. Then again, if it weren't for school, I prolly wouldn't get out of bed." Sleeping in sounded like a whole lot of fun to him. It was too bad his mom wouldn't let him do that, not even on Sundays. It was a real tragedy really.

Someone's embarrassed of their hobby. Senkoku thought to himself. He decided to drop the subject there. It was obvious Kanji wasn't going to talk about it. "It really can't be that bad . . . I won't pry though." Senkoku said. Kanji didn't want to talk, he didn't have to. Senkoku was certainly curious about what Kanji's hobby was now, but he wasn't going to force it out of him. He looked like the type of guy that you couldn't force to do anything that he didn't want to do, which begged the question why he was at school when when obviously bore some great manner of distaste for it.

"I'm sure you're exaggerating." Senkoku said. "If you think about, some of the simplest things in life are quite amazing." Senkoku tried to think of a good example of what exactly he meant. "Cloth for example. Just a needle and thread can accomplish so many things." Senkoku said. "I could only wish to have the patients to make something by hand with sewing." Senkoku thought he had gotten his point across sufficiently. He wasn't always so sure, people seemed to misunderstand him quite a bit, perhaps he simply needed to work on socializing.

"Not even a lil'" Kanji responded. He wasn't exaggerating; or he didn't feel like he was exaggerating. He's lived in Inaba his entire life, unfortunately, so his opinion should be the one that matters most in this debate. After all, he would know what the hell he's talking about. Too bad he sucks at giving the simplest of directions despite being around for a long time. Him and words and the proper use of them just didn't seem to meld together to form intelligent, well thought out, coherent ideas or expressions.

Still, Senkoku-senpai still seemed content with the idea of nothing being a good thing. However, his idea of something 'simple' was a bit farfetched and he obviously didn't know what the hell he was talking about when he started speaking about needle and thread being something simple. There was nothing 'simple' about using a needle and a thread. there were plenty of incompetent idiots who wouldn't even know how to do a pinch stitch. The simplest of all stitches to do!

"You're an idiot if you think sewing is simple." He responded flat toned once he was done. This is why he didn't really speak about such things that he did. People didn't understand the work and creativity involved with sewing. There was a lot more involved then just having the 'patience' for it. It's not like a patient person, who had never sewn a thing in their life, can pick up a needle and thread and make something with even hems, perfect seems, and a strong cross-stitch. Hell, they wouldn't even know what stitch to use or when. Did anyone in his school, aside from himself, know when to use an invisible stitch? Did anyone aside from him even know what an invisible stitch even was? Kanji snorted, "Probably not."
