Brea stepped out her small silver car and looked up at the apartment building she had arrived at. She had finally gotten to her destination after her five hour drive; Eve, Pennsylvania. She had heard about it while she was in a bar in New York. She remembered the drunk man who was going off about strange things that he'd seen, and strange people he had met. She had been sitting near him while he was yelling about people not believing him, saying that he was perfectly sane, and no longer cared about other people's opinions. So Brea decided to check it out, but all she had gotten out of his drunk talk was Eve, nothing more specific than that.

Brea walked up to the office where she would find the landlord, she had called ahead and gotten most things taken care of, so she didn't think it wouldn't take long. She walked up a few steps to the door and went inside to see an older male of probably mid-sixties. She assumed he was the man she talked to on the phone. "Mr. Shaw?" The man looked up from behind the counter and gave a welcoming smile. "That's me, how can I help you?" Brea looked at the man, he was of average height, he had brown hair and brown eyes, his face had a look that almost radiated kindness. But looks could be deceiving.

"Hello, I talked to you on the phone a couple days ago? I'm Brea, uh, Williams." She watched as the mans lip turned down at the edges and brought his hand up to his chin. And then he snapped his fingers and replied, "Ah! Yes, yes. I remember now, I can be quite forgetful sometimes. Nice to finally meet you in person Ms. Williams! How are you this fine day?" Brea put on a polite smile and replied, "Very well, thank you. And yourself? Ah, and please just call me Brea. May we finish any papers that need to be done up?" She wanted to get this dealt with as soon as possible.

It took a while for Mr. Shaw to get into gear, he was a talkative man. But eventually she signed what she needed to sign, payed what she needed to pay, and was able to get to her apartment.

She found her numbered parking spot, got her suitecases, and made her way up to the second floor of Building A, where she went to apartment number 214. She went inside, it was a quaint place, not too small, not too large, and simple. It was fully furnished, just as she had requested. She made her way to the bedroom, and sat on the mattress, and let out a sigh. She was unsure if coming here was very smart. She usually stayed away from potentially dangerous places. Apparently, as she was discovering, she wasn't doing that anymore. And she had no idea why.

'What changed?' She asked herself a question she knew she did not have the answer to.

Unnoticeably lounged against an outer wall on coincidentally the same floor as Brea's room, Laura had been idling away her day on her laptop when the resident entered her room, the woman an unfamiliar sight to Laura. The young girl had been confined to the complex for the past week, sharing the room of an acquaintance after her near discovery at Joseph's home in the prior days. The thought of being trapped here annoyed the girl to an extreme, causing to lend her time to everything from gaming to learning the faces and habits of the occupants of the building. This latter activity causing an intrigue for Laura at the prospect of a new resident.

Removing a coin from her pocket, the girl proceeded to flip the object into the air as she concentrated on stopping it midair with her mind. Accomplishing this easy feat with a smirk, the girl proceeded to produce a small device from her pocket, one of the spherical cameras she always kept on her. With slight effort, the child once again called upon her powers to guide the marble toward the direction of the woman's door, letting it rest gently against the outer door frame, simultaneously booting up a program to allow her to view through the camera on her computer.

After sliding her earbuds into the appropriate insert in the laptop so that she might also be able to make use of the camera's microphone, Laura returned to her episode of Another as she waited to see if the occupant would emerge again today.

Seid was driving him and his partner to The Burg so that they could track the mimic from his last known location. But as he drove past an apartment complex something made him stop and park the car. Without explaining himself, as he couldn't understand his reasoning himself, he took the keys from the ignition and and got out from the vehicle. He then walked towards the apartment, leaving Justin and the company vehicle behind him.

He found himself in luck as an elderly woman was sitting inside and came and opened the door to speak with him.

"What are you doing here young man?" she asked with a hint of suspicion in her voice.

Seid was prepared for the question and replied with one of his typical lies, "I've come apartment hunting actually, along with my older brother," he said while flicking his eyes in Justin's direction, he then leaned in closer to the woman, as if sharing something secret or conspiratorial, "We got in a bit of the fight on the way here so he's waiting in the car. Could you be a dear and let him inside if he decides to come and take a look?"

A twinkle entered the kind hearted hags eye as she replied, "Of course dear! Don't worry about a thing, he'll be in in a jiffy and minus a pout or two when he comes past me,"

She swung the door out wide for him and he entered with a gracious nod and headed towards the elevator. As he entered the metal contraption he wondered exactly why he had decided to come here. He wasn't a believer in intuition, luck or fate but as he thought about it-

Then as a gentle ding went off inside the tiny space he occupied he remembered the reason as he felt two power signatures on this floor. He had been informed by one of his contacts that a few possible metahumans may have taken up residence in this building. He hadn't taken the man too seriously and thus hadn't checked it out immediately. But as he felt the definite spikes of power around two individuals as he exited the elevator he reminded himself to reward David Shaw. He may be old but apparently he wasn't senile yet, and that had lead him to two potentially useful discoveries.

Brea got off of the mattress, and unpacked. She put her clothes in a small closet in the bedroom, then put some sheets and a blanket on the bed. She then grabbed a bag of some food that she'd gotten on the way from a nearby store, consisting of things like Cup-A-Noodle's, Sidekicks, and a few cans of soup. She brought them to the kitchen, and found an empty cupboard to put them in.

She left one of the Cup-A-Noodle's out, and looked around the kitchen for a kettle. When she finally found a kettle, she filled it with water and plugged it in, then waited for her water to boil. While she waited she went back to her bedroom, and got her bathroom stuff and brought it to her new bathroom. She plunked her stuff on the counter, and headed back to the kitchen as she heard the whistle, letting her know her water was boiling.

She went back, poured the water in her noodles, then grabbing a fork out of a nearby drawer, and put it on top, to keep the lid down and the heat in. She then put the kettle back and took her noodles to the small table in the dining room. She waited a couple minutes, and then ate her noodles. As she ate her noodles, she thought about where she should start looking in this place. And what she was trying to find. 'What, am I doing here? I feel like I just... need to find something.' She sighed, 'Whatever, I give up! I give in. I just need to stop thinking about it. It's not helping any.'

Brea got up, went to the kitchen and threw out the empty cup, and put her fork in the sink. 'Time to go find what I'm looking for.'

This was just simple recon. No need for two people to go in. Besides, he's the one who left me in the car in the first place. The guy must have something in mind. Until I was told otherwise, I'd wait and play Golden Sun out in the car.

Laura mused about as she waited, the idea of returning to her stand-in home quickly crossing her mind. As she shrugged off the thought in favor of waiting a while longer, the girl stood up and began brushing off whatever dust or debris had accumulated on her in the hallway. After a quick glance to make sure no one else was around, the girl took another quarter from her pocket, and joining the two in her right hand, tossed them in the air. Steeling her mind, the girl focused on the quarters, forcing them to obey her as they flew through the air. With an amused smile, Laura spun the coins in an artistic display, creating a ballet of metal in the hallway.

Lost in her game, the child just barely had time to react as she heard the nearby elevator issue a ding, indicating that someone would soon be joining her. As she slumped into her previous position, Pony willed the coins to rest on the floor soundlessly. Now awaiting whoever might emerge from the machine, the girl returned the laptop to her legs, and rearranging her focus to another of her cameras, Laura forced sphere out of her pocket toward the ground in a position that would allow her to view the elevator through the device.

Seid arrived and walked over to the nearest power signature. He found a small otherworldly looking girl. He kept up with the pretense of his previous lie, hoping she wasn't a lie detector.

"Hi I'm Seid, I'm apartment hunting, do you know where the open apartment is?"

While the girl was clacking away at her laptop he hopped she would look up to respond, he could leave her alone. Or perhaps... he decided to role with this, perhaps if he went on with this facade, turned it into a reality... He could make two welcome additions to the organization.

Brea went to her bedroom and grabbed her purse, which she had thrown on the ground near the bed. She put the strap around her head so it was sitting on her left shoulder, and held her purse on her right, keeping it tight to her hip. She also grabbed the key for the apartment from off of the floor beside where her purse was. She walked to the door, and put her boots back on, making sure that the the two daggers weren't noticeable. She then opened the door, walked outside, closed then locked it.

When she turned around she noticed a girl that she hadn't seen on her way in. She looked about 14 or 15, with blonde hair, and quite a bit of makeup. She was sitting in the hallway, with a laptop sitting on her lap. Then Brea noticed a man who was standing in front of the girl, he looked around Brea's own age, wearing simple blue jeans and a black jacket with runners.

It looked like the man was trying to gain the girls attention, so Brea would walk past them, hopefully unnoticed, and go back down the elevator so she could leave the apartment buildings.

As the man approached her with the question, the girl was nigh simultaneously alerted to the opening of the apartment door from her camera. Forcing herself into an uninterested expression, Laura drew a thin line her in lip, only opening it to to give a seemingly irritated reply of "No, I apologize" in an effort to send the stranger on his way so that she could focus her attention on the woman. To add on to this harsh demeanor, Laura opened up a media player program on her computer, shifting the volume to a level that would be clearly audible to the man in an attempt to show that any further query would be drowned out by the song she had started playing.

Contrasting her lax appearance, the teen would busy herself on her laptop viewing both people in intrigue, and set about snapping pictures of both, adding them to a database of residents of the complex that she had compiled.

Seid was taken aback by the girls rudeness. Instead of making him back off however, it made him intrigued. He walked towards her until he was against the same wall as she. He sat down and attempted to look at her screen.

If he was successful he would see the camera and be surprised by the little girls perverse, if not stalkerish fetish. If he wasn't he would merely be more intrigued by the girl, leading him to the conclusion that he really did need to buy the apartment here. He would then get up, leave, find Mr. Shaw and persuade him to give him the open apartment.

I had grown bored of just waiting and was about to enter the building. However, upon opening the door, Brea came walking out. Being the chivalrous man I was, I held the door open for her. However, an idea struck me. If this really was the home of a great number of metas, shouldn't we keep close? This could become a temporary base of operations for Seid and myself.

"Excuse me, ma'am? You live here, correct? If you aren't busy, could I have a moment of your time?" Assuming the reaction was favorable, I'd begin my little schpeel. "I'm out apartment hunting right now. My brother is inside, taking a look around. However, I know the apartment managers are essentially salesmen, so everything they say has to be taken with a grain of salt. Could you tell me about this place? It'd be much more comforting hearing about it from a resident."

[OOC: I hope I explained your character okay, let me know if I should chnage anything, Lol xP]

Brea had made it past the twe in the hallway, but someone caught her on her way out the front door. He was a small, frail looking boy, who was a few inches shorter than herself. He looked to be probably around her age, but she had a hard time telling exactly how close, and if he was older or younger. He wore simple clothes, and looked to be lacking in the hygiene department.

"Excuse me, ma'am? You live here, correct? If you aren't busy, could I have a moment of your time?" Brea smiled politely and nodded her head. "I'm out apartment hunting right now. My brother is inside, taking a look around. However, I know the apartment managers are essentially salesmen, so everything they say has to be taken with a grain of salt. Could you tell me about this place? It'd be much more comforting hearing about it from a resident."

Brea didn't know exactly how to reply, but she tried her best to be helpful. "Uhm, I am afraid I won't be able to be of much help. I just moved in today... But from what I have seen, the apartment is of good quality. It isn't the best by any means, but nor is it the worst. When I was looking around I chose this area itself because it tends to be the more... Average, when it comes to rent, and quality. Go too far one way, and they get cheaper, and much crappier in quality. Go too far the other, and they get very expensive, as well as better quality. I don't need anything fancy, but I still prefer to live in a good quality place. So, it depends on what you want, I suppose..."

Brea surprised herself on how helpful she actually was able to be. 'Well, would you look at that. I knew more than I thought...'

Noticing the man's approach through the camera the girl instantly hid the program, and turned the laptop away from him as a final precaution. When the man neared, Laura would shoot him a further irritated glare, letting her lips slide into an emotionless thin line. Finally broken from her furtive viewing, the girl would at last make eye contact with the man with the motion, and with this connection would try her best to drag up her inner demon, letting her eyes hold as much intimidation as possible from a tiny fourteen year old girl.

The girl seemed to give Seid a ferocious glare. It amused him to no end and reminded him that power can come in any sized package. He quickly realized that he wasn't going to gain any ground with this girl so he got up and wandered off to find Mr. Shaw.

When he finally found him he made his request, "You are going to give me the open apartment on the second floor of the building. You will then bill a modest fee to headquarters. Your reward for helping me will arrive in a few days," of course it wasn't really a request, his tone made sure of that.

"But what if-" Mr. Shaw began.

Seid quickly raised a finger to the old mans lips, "No buts, no questions, you know the drill," and without looking back he turned and walked away, his mind full of memories.

"Thank you. You've been a great help." Curious, that person. We now knew that at least three metas had been drawn here by various circumstances. Why? Was it something about this place itself? Could there be another meta that drew others to him or her subconsciously? Maybe it really was just pure coincidence. I didn't know, but the theory was worth investigating. The person I just talked to could be one as well, seeing as she was recently drawn here as well. The thing about it was that, aside from potentially the target whom I have no information on, all of us were not drawn by unusual circumstance, so no one would get suspicious. How queer.

Information in hand, I set out on a search for my partner, who seemed to have wandered off course a bit. I wouldn't find him until after he had left his meeting with Mister Shaw. "How'd it go?"

"Thank you. You've been a great help." The man replied.

Brea smiled politely as he left her be. She then went on her way, to continue her search elsewhere. She felt as if a dark cloud had suddenly risen above the apartment complex, and it sent a chill down her spine. She scurried away back to her car, and drove away.

Sied turned, pleased that his partner had shown up, "It went... well? Perhaps that's an overly optimistic view but it doesn't matter as we're now going to be living here. Our story is that we're brothers who are rooming together due to the economy."

He took a moment to take a breath and debate whether or not to go into more detail as to exactly why they were moving in.

"We're here to scout out the metahumans living here, gauge whether or not they're a threat or potential recruits for Them. Of course there is also something strange about this place, as having two other metahumans drawn here is unusual, having David notice them? Even more unusual," Seid wasn't sure exactly what had brought them to this place but he knew he sure as hell was going to find out.

"Now for a question, do we linger here, or move on?" he wanted his partners opinion, as if they would be working together, he was going to need to learn to trust and respect his partners instincts.

"Brothers..." My voice was downtrodden, obviously a bit irritated at the turn of events. "Why not friends, or even just acquaintances that moved in together for that same reason? Something that doesn't force us to make up a new background story so that our families are the same. Oh well. What's done is done. Just e-mail me our cover story at some point. We shouldn't linger, either, at least not after seeing the apartment we are going to be sharing. I'll need to prepare for the move and see what I can bring and what has to stay in storage."

How frustrating. Shouldn't this sort of thing come with advanced notice? I might just have to have a word with his boss at some point.

Seid noted the irritation in his partners voice but tried to ignore it, "Brothers is more suitable as it may explain away any strange occurrences others see between us. Also the familial bond inspires a sense of trust in our relationship being real and can be used as an excuse to grow closer to our neighbors. When metahumans are afraid of any people they don't know, any small allowance in trust is useful, even if a more complicated cover story is necessary, the details of which are already in your inbox."

Seid stared at Justin for a few moments, remembering that he was a new agent and didn't know all the tips and tricks of the trade so far. Let alone was he expecting to have to move somewhere else within such a short time frame of acquiring the job. He'll learn soon enough that this will be the least that They will do to him.

"Let's go then, take the car, I'll find my own way back, I've got some investigating to do," he said while handing Justin the keys.

He then took his time exiting the building, and the property, a new set of problems and puzzles fresh in his mind.

Phil pulled up into the parking lot of the apartments; it was time for a change of pace. He had spent the entire day looking for better apartments than the one he currently lived in; it was, unfortunately, very small, and a bit too close to the park in which he had his...strange...encounter just the other day.

The feeling hadn't yet worn off; the feeling like he was stronger and faster than he should have been. He had ran a few times since then. He was noticeably faster, and could run longer. Phil had no idea what happened, but whatever it was, it was like a dream come true.

And so, for that reason, Phil never wanted to see that man ever again. If that man could improve Phil's physical health so much with just a touch, then Phil was terrified to think of whether or not that man could have hurt him too.

Of course, what he failed to realize was that it was his own ability, not an aspect of that stranger's, that had enhanced his physical ability; and why would he have reason to think otherwise? As far as Phil knew, that guy had some weird kind of new drug on his skin or something.

~~~
After musing about the gain of his new abilities, Phil exited his vehicle and made his way towards the office. These apartments were undoubtedly nicer than the craphole motel he was currently living in. And given the fact that he might actually have a job soon, it was time to start looking.
~~~

A cheap down payment; that's what made Phil happy. Sure, he had to take one of the apartments all the way at the end, and all the way on the third floor; inconvenient as it may have been, it only took him a few seconds to realize that he had moved up, if only slightly, in the world.

Phil struggled to bring his sole piece of furniture up the stairs; an old beanbag chair. He made it to his new apartment, plopped the chair on the otherwise empty floor, and fell onto it; he exhaled; he was finally in his own place.

It felt nice.
