I'm in this situation too :wavey

I've been playing guitar for almost 3 years now and ever since I've been like, 10! I know I wanted to play in a band. And now I actually have the skills to do so and there's no one out there! I have friends who play bass, guitar and drums, but they're all in bands already! Either that or I know people who play, but they're skill level is not the same as mine or they have a different style/like different music. So I'm just stuck here jamming with a computer. I have a friend who plays drums and we jam on Metallica songs sometimes, but it's just not the same.
It gets really frustrating some times because I come up with all these songs but they're no good with just one guitar, I want to have a whole band!

But for now I'll just practice and hopefully some people come around who want to start a band. :horns2

What might be fun is if some of us got together in somewhere like Denmark next year and tried to just be a Metallica cover band and do a small tour for a few weeks during the summer? Just in pubs and rock clubs, places like that :)
Even if it wasn't for long, it might get something started! :D
If there are a few of us determined to do it, it could work out and be a lot of fun! :)

Holy hell that sounds GREAT to me! :D It would probably be hard to get together people because then you would've to actually live (in Denmark for example) for a while. But hey, nothing is impossible right? :D Man that would be awesome *dreams*

Another fun thing that got me thinking even more about this is that a few days ago I visited a real studio where my friends boyfriends band record songs in. They sat in the control room and I was at the drumkit in the studio (MUCH better than what I got at home) and I got to play some and they record it so I then got to listen to myself playing, for the first time!! It was so cooool to hear! And then he played some Metallica songs on guitar and I just played along, SO MUCH FUN!

Dammit I want this!! Let's form a band just for fun :P :D

It would be awesome to just do it for fun! If we found enough people for a band, we could try to go from there! :D
If you play drums and I do bass, then we would just need lead guitar, rythm guitar and vocals (I would be happy to do them if the worst came to the worst :P )
ANYONE INTERESTED?! :D

Messing about in that studio sounds really fun! :D People in bands are so lucky! Imagine just playing music for a living! :D It would be totally awesome!

I know exactly how you feel, hence why I'm hopefully headed to Berklee in a short year to make up for lost band time! I've tried for all of my high school- and some middle school- years to start a band. I've run ads, I've posted flyers, enlisted my best friends to help me form connections- nothing. And it's simply because there are so few musicians in my neck of the woods, and those who are actually around here refuse to see that there's a musical world beyond country and indie, as much as those are important, too. I've played in some small ensembles before, done a couple duets- let me just say, I am not fond of running solo, for whatever reason. I just don't like it, besides, I'm more talented (in my opinion, anyway) as a rhythm guitarist and vocalist than a lead guitarist. I like to be more grounded with what I play. :biggrin But my advice- keep actively looking! You never know what might turn up! I'm hoping my words prove true for all of us.

I'd sign up as a vocalist if you need one... :biggrin
I live in Norway, so Denmark is just an hour flight away from here!

But well, I WISH I could play rhythm guitar and sing, but I can't, so there's the little minus, if you gals thought of a band that had the same line-up... :P

But that's great! :D We don't need the exact same line-up! If only we could make a band.. it would be so over the top awesome. I'm still hungry for this. :P

I'm in this situation at the moment.
I'm in a band that play's at parties & play a few gigs at club's & our drummer & lead guitarist have just got up & left us.
It's just myself & my bestfriend (Who plays bass) left now. The other two thought playing cover's of Metallica was boring & we needed to explore. When actually we did, we played alot of other band covers too (Nirvana, Iron Maiden, Deep purple etc.) We also did our own songs too. I think they wanted to play more pop... I hate pop, i'm also pretty stubborn too. So i don't blame them in a way. I'd rather have a healthy band with bandmate's that are happy.
Destroyed Paradise (my band name) Is literally destroyed at the moment. So... Anyone in New Zealand who play's Lead Guitar & Drums Contact me :D

You just got to be positive & keep trying to find you some band mate's.
They'll come around, just when it's least expected.

I'm thinking positive about all this, 'coz i'm not stopping doing what i love, Rhythm guitar & Vocals :)

I totally get what you mean! I play in this band where we play mostly jazz and soul stuff, i like it better then pop, but still, I don't enjoy myself that much!
All i wanna do is sit around with my friends and play some metallica :horns: :biggrin :horns2
:) Yeah! Theres nothing better than sitting around playing Metallica! :biggrin
I can never find many people who like to play Metallica where i live, it's kind of hard.
It's either they don't know alot of their songs or they would rather play pop.
But just got to stay positive & keep looking right? :biggrin :D

It's hard for me to find Metallcia fans where i live too! And even those i find are mostly way older than me, and i never met a girl that's a metallica fan and plays an instrument! (well at least i never met her in person, there's a bunch of girls here :) )
Then i always end up playing with guys...
and there's a really low number of bass players here in Croatia, i have no idea why
But at least i find bands easier with my bass
Omg thats exactly the same with me! Haha. My bestfriend Gemma is the only girl i know in person & is the same age as me who loves Metallica, everyone else around my age is all into the new age screamo & pop stuff. Where i stick with what i know best: Heavy Metal & Old school rock!
Yeah, i always end up playing with the guys too! Oh wow is there really? You live in Croatia? That is so awesome :D I have a hard time around here trying to find a lead guitarist, so im going to have to play lead while someone does rhythm. But im prepared to do just about anything to have a full band again :)

Man, how I understand you all...
having a band, my dream since I was a kid.
I'm really taking this seriously, I have to start a band.
The problem is: no band members to my band. It's so hard to find people who have the same music taste as me, and the ones who have already have bands. :(
But one day I'll have one. I need this.

I was a singer in a band once. It was great :) but they kicked me out because they don't want a "female singer".

Fuck everything......
