GAH ok so this whole LuLu situation is pissing me off. I haven't heard it yet, but I will try to listen ASAP. But in my personal opinion, no matter what it sounds like, I have full support in whatever MetallicA decides to do next. "LuLu" technically isn't even their work. They merely played with Lou. It isn't THEIR music and it OBVIOUSLY isn't THEIR "Style" so to speak, so why give THEM crap about it? They wanted to get a little out of their element and that is exactly what they did. It may not have been great, but I'm tired of the bashing that is going towards them when it isn't even their music. ![]() PHEW glad that's off my chest.... Anyone else have anything to say about it?? |

Trinny, why are you so god damn good at just...saying stuff? lol To be honest, I have no idea what to say about the album. I've listened to it and for me the best part is the instrumental side of it. I know that's just me being an elitist Metallica fan girl, but really it's the only part I like, unfortunately. When I was listening to it, it was the intros of most of the songs that I liked. The beginning of Cheat On Me was my favourite part of the whole album. Vocally and lyrically, it let me down. Lou's voice made the album messy. I know it's intentional, but the vocals were just completely out of time and I know everybody's said this, but it is just talking. The amount of syllables are all over the place - intentional again, I know - and even Lou's attempts to add a bit of tone to his voice make it sound flat. The lyrics didn't win my vote either. I think using a dog's dick as a metaphor for something, whatever the hell Lou's written his lyrics about, is wrong on so many levels. I know it's all meant to be a big story about something, but it's all too weird for me. The only person who pulled off making an album around a story was Dio with Magica. Now that kicked ass. I don't hate this album. I'm not one of those 90% who are completely ignorant to the fact that it's not a Metallica album, but I think it was just a bit silly involving a band with one of the largest, most arrogant fan bases in the world with a guy who wants to talk over Metallica's music. A bad decision, really. It's not Metallica's or Lou's fault, but this album is going to flop, badly. (No offence meant to anyone on here with the use of the word arrogant.) Just my opinion. |

I'll never feel guilty for liking an album. I'm more wondering what's wrong with them. By them I don't mean the people who just don't like it, I mean the people who literally hate on it and the band, and even have the audacity to decide whether or not Metallica should have attached their name to that project. Who the fuck do you think you are? Their management? To make a lame comparison, Lady Gaga. It's the worst shit I've ever heard. For some people it's genius. Or take modern art. I think it's an excuse, a total waste of paint, and yet some people drool all over it. Art is all about tastes. Music is all about tastes. And fucking Lulu is all about tastes. Some "fans" just seriously need to get over themselves and move on instead of whining indefinitely on PPM. |

I love it. I don't feel guilty about it. I really don't care if there are girls here on the boards who don't like it. Like c'mon, there's probably 5 or 6 girls here who love the album and I just happen to be one of them. I have my own taste and they have their own. The reason why I love it because it was different. Something about it was just amazing. I'm actually listening to it right now lol. Nuff said. |

At first I hated it..but when I listened to the whole album i started to like it..it's not a Metallica album, we all know that. It's more of a Lou Reed album with Metallica as his back-up band (i suppose). I support Metallica with anything they do, and I'll support them even more by buying this album

This is my first time hearing anything Lou Reed related, let alone the fact Metallica is now involved. Personally, I love it. I have my doubts on some songs but sitting down at 3AM and listening too it amongst the silence, I fell in love with the flow of the lyrics. The instrumental background is undeniably great and caught myself humming along to Brandenburg Gate a few times. But haters are always going to hate, like Trinny had pointed out, and it's always going to be back and forth. (No point explaining, Trinny has already said that perfectly.) But anyway. I love it. |

First of all, I'm not seeing this as Metallica's project/album, so I won't be blaming boys for anything, and I'm sick and tired of ppl saying shit about them. I won't say I love the album, because I must listen to it more and more to see if I actually love it. After few listenings, I gotta say I was really surprised by music, because it is great. I must admit I really dislike Lou's vocals, but once you get used to it, it's ok. |

Okay. I'm not hating on the guys for the music, lets put it like this: I hate their decision to team up with Lou. ![]() I've listened through the album now, and believe me, I really, really, REALLY tried to give it a chance, but I just can't STAND Lou's voice no matter how much I try get used to it or ignore it. And as a vocalist myself the vocal is what matters to me the most. It's so outta tune and place... The music is awesome though. Kinda creepy from time to time, but dear god do I wish this was an instrumental album instead. Even James' voice is outta tune from time to time... I also caught myself thinking "too much cymbals" on one of the songs (can't remember which one), which is rather unusual for me to think. Brandenburg Gate and Iced Honey were the only songs I could listen to without thinking "I wanna skip this song so badly...". I never skipped a single song though, I listened to it, 110%.. But sometimes it felt just so annoying and frustrating to listen to I pulled my hair and cried "WHYYYY"... Sorry guys, I really tried giving Lulu a chance, but gosh... I just can't force myself to like this...

I like Lulu. As you can see from my post's in other threads, that's how much i like it ![]() As for the other topic.. People saying Metallica's dead etc. I've argued over St. Anger so many times to learn to shrug my shoulders & say 'hey that's their opinion, just carry on.' Everyone's entitled to an opinion, but i don't have to agree with it. I don't think this album will effect the Monster that is Metallica

So far, I've listen to a few songs from Lulu and frankly I didn't like any of them. I mean, some beginnings are awesome because you can hear the real Metallica, but Lou isn't working for me. Maybe if I give it another try later, maybe I'll start to like it..... I am glad it's not a 100% Metallica product, but if it really were, I wouldn't go around and say I HATE METALLICA BECAUSE OF THIS SHIT ALBUM. That's the stupidest thing to do <_< Instead, I'd just calmly wait for another album. People forget that this is Metallica and they will always do what they want. and that's the beauty of it. they always surprise us, real fans. /my two cents Edited by Mihaella_Metallica, Nov 2 2011, 01:40 AM.
