Dear Metallichicks friends,

Let me know your opinion about this:

I think that a typical fan meeting is underwhelming for the band members, so nothing special. Even if somebody could impress a band member (with the personality or appearance or with something else), nobody has really a chance to impress someone by a "meet and great" or in an autograph session; in this little space of time.

How possible are the situations like this, imagine:

- they have children, and the teacher have "parents-day" in the school, there are also the parents of other children,
- they go to a restaurant, and the waitress serve them, other people see them,
- they go to a doctor and the doctor (and the other workers by the doctor) meet them,
- they go to shopping and people are workimg in this store,
- they are maybe even a self helping group like Alcoholics Anonymous **

How possible is that to meet a band member in that kind of " real life" situation?
How possible is that to impress a band member in a that kind of situation?

** Im a trained complimentary addict-helper and I have been in many meetings of Alcholics Anonymous; some members in the meeting were affected, impressed from my life story, from my engagement or just from my words... Every time as someone told me something like this, I imagined how it would be if a band member would sitting there and tell me that kind of things. I would probably be the happiest person of the world 0.0

...So what are you asking here? The M&Gs, them in real life, how you don't make an impact in their lives? I'm confused.

I think the question is asking how can you accidentally bump into them without signing up for a meet&greet. Could you meet them and maybe have your personality or something have an effect on them in a certain way that makes them think, "Wow, this person is really cool, and I'm glad we have fans like this" or something like that. I'm not sure, but that's what I'M getting from this.

I thought so too. It happens all the time. But by reading the subtitle thingy "Meet a rockstar as a human"... I think this is also supposed to be asking "Is it possible to meet them and talk to them, not as a fan, but as a person". You know... like as if you were one of their friends. Not even asking about their career, but maybe almost, in a sense, becoming friends. Idk... something like that. I suck at analyzing things :P

Trinnyallica is confused; she is right. I noticed, I didnt write clearly enough what I actually wanted to say.

*) Is that really possible (or really imaginable for the fans) to meet the band members as normal people and not as Rockstars? And to impress them with the personality, knowledge, appearance, etc.?
For example as teacher in the school of their kids, as a haircutter, a doctor or something like this? Im sure they meet a lot o f people in the normal life. Maybe they have even an Au-Pair girl at home, cause of the kids? :o

*)Do you think that a meet and greet can be interesting for them? I believe that they have everywhere fans and more fans, so every fan is just another one of them. And in the short time -in the backstage- is not a really chance to meet and -maybe impress- a band member.

A Star is so untouchable, unachievable (like the real stars in the sky) But I sometimes I think "they have also neighbours, a family, friends of the family members, the servants, and for all this people they are much more achievable and contactable."

I dreamed last night that I had a child and she was in the same classroom with James Hetfield's youngest daughter Marcella. They were playing together and I was meeting Francesca because of their friendship... She invited us to their home to drink a cup of coffee while they are playing... :o

There is a "line" between fans and normal people in their life, but how "crossable" is this line for a mere mortal?

(Thank you for the answers - sorry for my english mistakes.)

Sure! :D Every famous person lives through that almost every day.

Now, someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think I read/heard somewhere that the guy that deliveres mail to James is a Metallica fan and the first time he did James' route he was going crazy and also feeling scared because James maked it clear he doesn't like Metallica fans walking around his neighbourhood/front yard or whatever. But James didn't give him a hard time or anything, I think he like, signed a CD for him or something and the guy has been delivering mail there for a few years now!

I think they like meeting fans either way, except when people come to their front door or something.

@ Trinnyalica: You had 15-20 Minutes with James Hetfied by M&G??????????????????????? :o

I never thought that something like this could be possible.......... I thought they have max. 2-3 Minutes for every single one and thinking "let's make it done and go..."

(In a concert, 12 years ago, I was standing on the front of the stage, and my best friend put me on her shouders to make me a bit higher. I screamed "JAMES!" but I never thought he could hear me, cause it's always so loud... But he did, and he looked at me!!!! As I saw that his eyes are on me, maybe only for two seconds, I had a completely blackout. I don't know what I did, what I felt, how my friend put me down again... An absolute blackout. So you can imagine what would it mean to me to talk to him 15-20 Minutes? I would part my lifetime with "before" and "after") :)

Please tell me more about it. When was it, how was it, what did you speak about...

@Trinnyallica: Thank you for your answer, I tried to read your text but unfortunately my english is not good enough to understand everything. I have to translate many words, look up in my dictionary, ask some people etc.
But that is a good way to learn. I'm very curious about your M&G. :)

No, the M&Gs are not like that. The ones you see on MetOnTour, they're picked for those that are short/most interesting/entertaining. The longer ones are usually more personal. The M&Gs are what you make of it.

It's old news, my M&G lol. I've said it before, typed it all up and shared it already. Here's the link: http://fav.me/d34pu41 For James's part, look for the line that begins with "Thirty minutes later, he arrived." It goes from there.
Honey that was quite the experience. I was so moved by your description! Thank you so much for sharing your experience with the world!

Lars is already an "art-freak", I know from the film "some kind of monster" that he has amazing art works at home on his wall. They are worth of million of dollars and he loves every single one.

I <3 Mike Holmes

I have the most amazing James encounter - beats any meet and greet in the world.

Posted Image

This is me, standing about 12-18 inches from James. I was litterally STUCK right there, pushed into him by a large crowd behind me, feeling his breath on the back of my neck for 30 minutes. I could not move left or right. I couldn't move back, only forward. It was amazing, I'm not going to lie. I stood there for about a half hour, until I got bored smelling his breath and chatting with him, and then proceeded to PUSH my way out. After about 2 or 3 minutes of heavy pushing, I was free of the crowd, and I left.
