Poor Twisted Me

The rain tapped at the window gently as they sat across from each other. Her cheeks wet with angry, hurt tears, his eyes bloodshot from the frustration that consumed his heart. She needn't explain anything further. She wanted him gone, and needless to say, he felt the same. He knew where his place was, and it wasn't in her bed anymore, or in her home. She wiped the tears from her cheeks and sniffed for a slight recovery when the footsteps approached from the stairs. She looked at him but he kept his eyes to the ground. Ashamed of the outcome that came from their confrontation. The young, blonde haired girl approached them. Tapping at his shoulder. "Daddy?" He flinched at her quiet request for his attention. She was masking the tears. He knew she saw his duffel by the door, and he knew she was gonna beg. Beg for him to stay, tell him how much she loved him. Plead to him that her mother was wrong and that she didn't know what she was talking about. The minute he looked down at her pale face, the silent tears began and Fran had left for the kitchen. He didn't glance at her for answers. Just stared into his eldest Daughters bright blue, wondering eyes. "Daddy?" She squeeked. He sniffed and forced a smile. "Daddy, what's going on? What's that bag for? Are you and uncle Lars going on another trip?" He brushed the blonde strands out of his young girls' face and tucked it behind her ear. "No sweetie.." "Then what's wrong? Why you crying daddy?" He chuckled and kissed her forehead. Watching her face contort in confusion. "Daddy...has to go away fro awhile.." "Why?" She pressed. "Because...him and mommy...aren't getting along very well." "But dad I need you...I promise I'll do anything. Just stay. Mommy doesn't know what she's saying! She's just angry!" She wrapped her arms around her fathers neck and sobbed into his shoulder. "Don't go! I'll be good Daddy! I promise." He rubbed her back and kissed her head. "I'm sorry my little girl. Daddy won't be gone long okay? I promise.." She pulled back from him and smacked at his chest. "You're giving up! Don't give up!!!" He grabbed her wrists and pulled her to his chest once more. "I'm not giving up honey. Mom and I made this decision together." "You guys are wrong! It's jsut a bad spot! I'll be good I promise you! I won't fight you anymore or argue!!" She searched the room for her mother and found her leaning in the doorway to the kitchen. The tears being forced at bay. She stomped her way towards her mother. "Don't let him go! You can't!! He needs you! I need him! Mom please! You don't know what you're doing! You're just mad at him." The words stung Francesca and she let the tears fall once more. Her daughter was nearly 11 now. She loved both her parents, and was excelling in school. She was a great kid and she was blaming herself for their decisions. Cali searched the both of hr parents. The tears not falling but sticking to the back of her throat. She got on her knees in front of her father. "Please daddy. Hear me out..Please don't go..." He rose to his feet, not acknowledging her. He kept his head down, making his way painfully for the front door. He noticed Cali zoom by him and grab his bag. he sighed. "Cali..baby girl don't do this. Give me the bag sweety." She pulled it out of his reach and ran towards the living room. "Come get it." He shook his head and out stretched his hand motioning for her to come to him. "Don't play this game sweetheart. Give me the bag. I have to go now." He watched his daughter look at her mother searching for an answer or explanation. "Cali, give your father his bag." Her daughter dropped the bag and ran upstairs to her room. James stepped back inside, grabbed his bag and before turning for the door, he looked at his soon to be ex-wife. "I'm sorry Fran." "Don't James.." "But I am. What if you're wrong? What if I am different and I'm ready to change? I'm ready to be a father and husband." She shook her head at him not wanting to start another fight. "Fran she needs me around! You can't do this to her! Do it to me but not our daughter!" "James, I didn't do this. You did. You screwed up. And it took you ten years to see it! You screwed me over and your daughter! She'll have you around every other weekend." He stepped toward her dropping the bag at his side. "Don't do this...Please..I'm begging you." His had descended on her shoulder and she shivered. He made the quick movement to wrap his arms around her. She kept her arms crossed over her chest in defiance. He kissed the side of her head. "Let go of me James. Or you'll give Cali mixed feelings." "I don't care. I'm not letting go til you let me stay. Give me an ultimatum. I'll do anything." She looked into his pleading eyes and saw truth. "She gt to you...Are you doing this for our daughter, or are you doing it because you love me and her and can't let us go?" He was baffled that she'd even ask such a thing. "Because I love you." He stroked her cheek. "And I love our daughter." He finalized. She smled gently and leant up to peck his lips. He took it a step forward and sucked her bottom lip into his mouth. His hand on the back of her head keeping her from moving back. Her resistance subsided and she moaned softly when he nibbled at her lips. "I know you love me." She nodded against his forehead. "I do..I'm sorry James. I love your imperfections and your broken wings." "You can fix them for me." He kissed her once more. "I need you to fix them for me." "I will" she whispered against his lips. He turned hearing his little girls feet running toawards him. He outstretched his arms to cacth her mid flight and hugged her tightly. "Daddy's not going anywhere baby girl. I'm here for you. Forever and always." He whispered against her hair. "I love you daddy." "I love you too my sweet girl." THE END Let me know what you think.
