Great beginning! I love when opposites attract. James in this fic seems so life like. Can't wait to learn more about Angie and see why she us so in love with Metallica. I feel like she has something hidden in her past that could bring some drama to the table... Please update soon! |

Oops, I missed a chapter I didn't realise that Angie was a Metallica fan. It must have been scary and exciting meeeting them like that. I wonder what Angie's mom and dad were like...they sound kind of bossy :O

There it goes! Oh and I'm sorry for the Megadeth and Mustaine fans, don't worry I won't bash about the band or him, it's a mention of what a classical musician may think! Chapter 4: Could anyone find a better example of complete and utter boredom? Angie didn’t think it was possible. The number of important people in this ballroom compared to the quality of the conversations was astounding and, frankly, depressing. Here she was, forced to attend this cocktail chore – pardon, party – whereas the only thing she could focus on was the impending show with the SFSO and of course, the meeting of the afternoon prior. Of course, she could let her thoughts wander and center around the Tallica boys, but that would bring a smile to her face; a smile that the person she was trying to listen to at the moment certainly didn’t deserve. He had been talking about the same make of car – not that she had anything against cars – for the past 30 minutes, never mind that common courtesy should let the hostess mingle among her guests; or that he didn’t leave her 5 seconds to interject a comment. Alas, according to her mother he was good husband material; a man just 3 years older than her, from a rich, European family, with the promise of a certain future in the family industry, and generally a prime example of dullness. To quote her mother, “he would not get in the way of your career, dear”. Just what she dreamed of for her marriage. Speaking of the devil… Maria Moranduzzo, Angie’s mother, was approaching her daughter with a purposeful step. She was a petite woman, still beautiful in her fifties, with a lot of class and an unequalled stubbornness. She wore a simple purple sheath dress with assorted shoes, yet she was noticed by all. Although Angie knew that she’d regret the thought later, at this moment, she was definitely thankful to her mother for getting her out of this man’s clutches, in her usual whirlwind of words. “Angelica, dear, where have you been? Oh hello, Bruno! Angelica, our guests are waiting to see you. You know that your duty is to give each of our guests some minutes of your time tonight. Also, you could have brought your violin. You are a musician, at least by entertaining our guests, it would have been useful and impressive. I have a reputation to uphold; my parties are renowned for their quality and I intend to keep it that way!” Maybe the previous monologue wasn’t so bad after all… With a sigh, she decided to finally open her mouth for the first time this evening bar the necessary greetings. Time to put all her lessons on etiquette and diplomacy to good use. “Mother, I simply could not leave poor Bruno alone here. He was explaining one of his passions to me; it would have been extremely unacceptable to dismiss him that way.” Dear god, the amount of stupidities she could spout in these parties! “Concerning my violin, I have been working all afternoon with the orchestra, I am afraid that I am too tired to play up to your standards.” Before Maria could answer her daughter, they were interrupted by the man they had forgotten about. “Excuse me, but I couldn’t help but overhear. Do you play the violin?” Okay, no, whatever her mother may think, that’s too much! He’s talking to her, a famous violinist, who, according to his pitiful attempts at flirting, he supposedly listened to several times, and he has the gall to ask THAT?! Is it completely impossible to find a man interesting, interested by her and that she’d actually like?! It should be noted that, if the face of a certain singer popped in Angie’s head at this question, she would make sure to bury the notion VERY deep. The following week, Jason was walking down the corridor leading to Kamen’s office. He had been asked – ordered – by the others to come, to receive the soundtracks of the first propositions the maestro had in store. They still had almost 6 months before the date, but it was such a novelty for them that, for once, they wanted to prepare. On the way, he passed by a room where Metallica was practically blasted out. Wondering who it could be, he knocked several times, but the volume must have kept anyone inside from hearing it. Therefore, he entered without invitation, only to be stunned. In the rehearsal room was the woman from the previous meeting, Angie. She was sitting on a couch, her violin next to her, eyes closed, her leg moving with the tempo, and mouthing the lyrics of Through the Never. She appeared so relaxed and spellbound by the music. Her dedication was intense and obvious. Jason felt almost ashamed to intrude into such a moment. Not knowing how to make his presence known, he coughed to get her attention. At once, her attitude changed. He was deeply surprised. When she hadn’t noticed his presence, it was as if the woman he had seen last week and the one before him were not the same. But, as soon as she realized he was there, her face became blank once again, and in one second she was the picture of a perfect cold lady. Maybe there was more to her than what they thought? “Uh… I’m sorry to interrupt but… I heard some Metallica from this room and, well…,” Jason trailed off awkwardly. “Are you a fan?” “I am not a fan of anyone!” was her abrupt answer. “Oh… okay. It was just a question!” he stated his pride a bit hurt. “Why were you listening to it and mouthing the lyrics, then?” he countered indignant. For a moment she seemed surprised to get a come-back; like she wasn’t accustomed to get replies that dry. She looked almost uncertain on how to act around him, and unbeknownst to him, unsure of how to deal with someone who didn’t follow the same guidelines as her. Finally, she settled for a leap of faith, and, taking hold of her courage, she admitted in a very different tone, “You caught me red-handed then!” He was so stunned to be treated differently by her that he took a moment to answer. She was even smiling a little! “Hey, if it makes you feel better, I can always promise to not tell the guys!” Did she want them – James – to know that she had been a fan for years? They would treat her differently, of course. But would it be a good or a bad thing? Upon reflection, she finally agreed to his offer. “Yes, that would be much appreciated.” Of course, after that came the ever existing uncomfortable and tensed silence, at least, before her training in society took over. “What are you doing here already? Your show with the orchestra is only six months away, you have time.” However, it was Jason who definitely broke the tensed atmosphere, when he blurted, “Do you always talk in that uppity way, or what?” getting a laugh out of her. In the end, they discussed for quite a while, mainly about their different tastes and experience in music. Thanks to that, Jason learned that she had been an unconditional fan of Metallica for several years, though without knowing the real importance their music had had in her life. He also learned that she could talk normally and liked few metal bands apart from Metallica, most Anthrax’s material and some Megadeth songs, even if she pointed out that if Mustaine actually opened his mouth to sing I’d like the band better! Nonetheless, Jason had to leave at some point, because the Dictator Duo was waiting for him, probably impatiently by now. Oh well, it’s not every day that you can chat with a famous violinist who’s a fan of your band, right? Although, there was still the matter of finding an excuse for Lars and James… Edited by Sekhmet49, July 3, 2012, 9:06 am.
