Wow! I just loved them! The Explorer and the Les Paul Junior.
Actually I loved your Telecaster, so sad that is dismantled now :(
Rosewood is the best, I mean I like more than Zebrawood, it's kind more mystic.

It's great to made your own instruments and record your own music with them, I bet it could be a cool experience. :horns2
Awesome job Max! :D

I'm impressed Max really! Especially since I suck at everything that is a manual activity!! lol I really liked your explorer! It must feel kinda special to play on your own instruments, no?

Do you have a definite project to change places and acquire tools/materials in the process or is it jus a dream for now?

Fiorella, that's a nice name! Nice to know you!

@ Aurore: Thanks! It's pretty cool to play your own guitar, but in the end it's just like playing any other guitar. So I guess the awareness of 'omg my own guitar' fades quickly. Add to that, that I still feel that my Gibson and LTD are the best guitars that I own. But for the next guitars, I'm really gonna take all the time they need I will try to be VERY precise about everything. I hope in that way, I can make a guitar that will probably be better than my Gibson. But guitars are a mystery. Why is one guitar playing like butter and the other plays like ass? I mean, what the hell is it? In the end it's all wood with some strings strung over it, so what's the big deal right? I think a lot of it has to do with the neck. That first Telecaster I built had a pre-fab neck and it played and sounded not so well. Then I make a neck myself for my second guitar and it's instantly better than that Telecaster.

About that second part: Yeah for now it's just dreaming, but I know for sure that I will be able to build all the stuff that I have in mind now. It's one of my goals in life, so I'm pretty confident that I will achieve this goal someday.

Where did you find that pic Aurore?
It looks like a recent one, looking at the pickups. I saw a guy on the internet that had one like that, but it had the regular EMG's. Here we see the new ones that look like regular pickups.
The wood is really great. I believe it's Macassar Ebony. I wish I had wood like that to build one!

Oh, I found it on Ken Lawrence's account on facebook, he has quite a lot photos of his instruments there!

Aren't they the James Hetfield set from EMG? They look like that, no?

You're right, this wood is absolutely unique! I'd like to know how it sounds too, must be different from what we are used to!

Btw, I retrieved the last mail in our conversation, I'm SO sorry, I thought I had answered! I'll send you a response as soon as my exams are done! :wink

Yes the EMG's are probably the James set.
The wood...the sound won't be very noticeable, because the body is mahogany, and only the top layer is this exotic wood. The top layer is usually about 5mm thick. It's an awesome decoration, but is not there for certain sound purposes.

Don't worry about the email stuff! :)
