Frayed Ends went pretty well for a first time play-along yesterday. But the solo rhythm section is insane and that will take a while to get it right.

The bass part?

-----

I'm trying to learn the intro of Guns N' Roses' Sweet Child of Mine, but since I don't have an electric guitar, I have to play it on my acoustic, and that's so NOT DONE :(

I've been playing around with the Through the Never solo lately. But I can't do it.
There are parts that are like this one:

-12h15p12----12h15p12----12h15p12----12h15p12----
----------15----------15----------15----------15-
-------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------

And I just can't do them. These things are in a lot of metal solos and especially in Kirk solos. In tab they look so easy, but for me they are the hardest parts. I just can't do them fast enough. ARGH! Oh well, at least I can play a lot of Metallica songs on rhythm. I've always seen myself more as the 'James' when it comes to guitarplaying.

Yeah, I agree. Solo's are not my thing....

Shrine Communications and Oblivion by Brant Bjork.
I learned them by ear (since there are no tabs) and I can tell you it is a lot of fun to learn stuff by ear! You also memorize it all better and it is less likely that you forget it.

That's true. It's also interesting to look at some tabs after you "invented" it...sometimes your own version sounds better than the original

What I also do is adapting songs into other instruments. That's fun too.

Most tabs suck anyway. You really have to look in very particular places to find good ones.
