This is sooo sad with everybody leaving. Daniel seems to really care about Annaly. I think that Amy is making a mistake not fleeing to Norway with them with Rory. I loved how Cliff calls him Mustaine.

Chapter 72 "Papa, I want to stay with you", pleaded Annaly. "Annaly, ye are going to Norway. There is a war coming, and I want you safe", said Daniel. "Papa, what if the stone is wrong, and nothing shall happen? I do not want to parted from you. I love you, Papa", she cried. Daniel embraced his daughter. "Annaly, 'tis for your own good, and that is final", he replied sternly. Annaly's face turned red, as she ran out the door. I do not want to flee to Norway. I want to be with Papa and Amy and Rory, she thought, tears falling down her cheek. "Annaly, what is the matter?", asked Jeanie, as they almost collided. "I do not wish to flee to Norway. I want Papa", she sobbed. Jeanie embraced her. "Annaly, the stone revealed everything. 'Tis for your own good. It will be very dangerous here when the war starts", she said. An idea suddenly came to her. "When Violet comes later, I shall talk to her. I have an idea", she replied. Daniel opened the door and was surprised to see the healer and Violet and Lars. "Amy, are you sick?", he asked, puzzled. "No, Master Connolly. Mistress Hetfield came across your daughter sobbing. She does not wish to be parted from you", said Kilwich. "I do not want her here when the war starts. I want her to be safe", he said. "That is why I have a request of ye. I wish for you and your family to go to Norway as well. You have a wife and son to think of as well. I promise, you shall be safe in Norway", said Kilwich. "Are you sure? I have become a member of the clan, and I am willing to fight for you", said Daniel. "Master Connolly, the laird requested that you go to Norway as well. I promise you, you shall all be safe. You are under the protection of Lachlan Mackenzie. He takes care of his kinsmen", he said. Daniel sighed, a thoughtful expression on his face. "Aye, I shall speak to Amy later. I hope and pray that we will find peace, my children deserve it", he murmured. "Violet, I have something to give ye", said Kilwich. She had just finished nursing Beatrice, and put her back in the crib. "Aye, what is it, Papa?", she asked. He smiled at his daughter, withdrawing a carved wooden box from a drawer. Inside the box was a pendant suspended on a silver chain. The pendant was a shimmering blue stone, the color of the sky with the faintest hint of green, framed in delicate silver filigree. "It was your mother's. She told me to give it to you when you left Mackenzie lands. She told me it had been passed down from generation to generation, to the eldest daughter", he said. "'Tis very beautiful, Papa", she whispered, kissing his cheek. "Hey, what's this?", asked Lars, peering at the necklace. "It's mother's. Papa gave it to me", she replied. "Aye, her mother said to give it to her if she left Mackenzie lands. 'Tis for good luck", he replied. "Yeah, I think we're gonna need it", he chuckled. |

That pendant sounds very pretty. I hope that Daniel can go with his daughter and be safe. Amy too! I hope that everyone in this can stay safe but I don't know. I have a feeling that some very emotional chapters are going to be coming up with families parting and fleeing from the war. Awesome!!!!

Chapter 73 Liam walked to Sorcha's house, his mind trouble. They leave for Inverness on the morrow, I shall never see Jeanie and Morag and Papa James and me niece and nephew again, he thought sadly. "Aye Liam, 'tis a fine night fer courtin'", joked Fergus, Sorcha's brother. "Aye Fergus. At least I am courting a girl, ye canna find one fer yerself", he chuckled. "Liam, glad ye made it", said Sorcha, embracing him. She was a tall, slender girl with long auburn hair and bright green eyes. They had been courting for five months, since the previous Christmas. "Glad to see ye too, Sorcha. You look lovely as always. Do ye wish to go dancing?", he asked, his cheeks pink. "Aye, ye are a very good dancer, Liam", she giggled, green eyes dancing with mirth. They walked together to the village square, hand in hand. "Liam, shall ye miss your sister?", she asked. He sighed. "Aye. They leave for Inverness on the morrow. I have a feeling that I shall never see them again. Norway is so far", he murmured. "I ken. Let us be happy tonight, tomorrow ye part", she sakd, leading him to the dance. Liam smiled at her, taking her in his arms. He led her in the dance, not wanting to think. Sorcha is right, we shall be happy tonight, it is not fair to her to dwelling on that, he thought. Meanwhile, the Connolly family was hastily packing their belongings. Annaly helped her father, an eager smile on her lips. Papa is coming, this is so exciting, she thought. Daniel watched his daughter, his thoughts ambivilent. I understand why she is excited, but I have finally found peace here. I have a wife, land, and a house. But we all shall go to Norway together. And I pray no war shall harm us there, he vowed. Amy observed them, as she nursed Rory. We are leaving Mackenzie lands forever, and going to a faraway land. She closed her eyes, remembering the visions in the crystal ball. This war coming is terrible. But we must flee, for the children's sake. Poor Annaly, she is a sweet girl, she deserves peace and stability, she mused. "Papa, what is Norway like?", asked Penny. Cliff stopped his packing as his daughter climbed onto his lap. "You mind Sebastian. I shall finish. We only have a few things left", said Morag. "Penny, Norway is pretty far from Scotland. If we had a map, I'd show you", he chuckled. "We've played there a few times, it's really cool. It's cold and rugged with lots of trees and mountains. Uncle Lars, he speaks Danish, which is similar to Norwegian. You're gonna love it", he said. "Does Cthulo live there?", she asked. "Hell no. He lives under the sea, I think. Don't worry, we're not gonna see him", he joked. |

I like how even with an off character such as Liam, you've done a good job writing him that I feel as bad over what happens to him as I do the Metallica people. That's the mark of a good writer indeed.

Chapter 74 The morning of their departure dawned bright and warm. The sun rose majestically out of the dark blue horizon, the orange disk giving off a brilliant glow. The group and their families were in the wagons, the men on their horses. The laird stood by them, standing proud. "You are leaving for Inverness, and then Norway. The children shall be safe their, and my brother Lachlan will take in. Dia Dhuit, all of you. Adh Mor Ort. Commander Howard, bring them to Inverness safely, and when they leave for Norway, come back to Mackenzie lands and tell me", he commanded. "I shall, your Lordship", he replied solemnly. "We're gonna miss you Liam, I've seen you grow from kid into a man. You'll be good to Sorcha, and I hope you fight bravely in the war and get married and have lots of kids", said James, embracing him. "Aye, Papa James, I shall make ye proud", he vowed. "I am sorry I cannot go with you, Violet. I am too old, I was born on Mackenzie lands, lived on Mackenzie lands, and shall die on Mackenzie lands. Adh Mor Ort", he said to Violet. "I shall be forever grateful to his Lordship for making Annaly and I part of the clan. But I must take my leave of you and I shall always have fond memories of the time amongst ye", said Daniel. "All right, gentlemen. Tie the horses to the wagons and follow me. 'Tis a long way to Inverness", said Commander Howard", getting on his own horse. The caravan followed him out of the village. Each man guided a wagon with their wives, children and possessions. They were guarded by several Black Watch soldiers, in case of attack by outlaws. The plain spread out before them like an endless sea of grass. The sun overhead was a bright yellow disk in a shimmering blue sky, the grasses waving in the breeze. Occasionally, they would pass a shephard with his flock, but it was otherwise empty. The children stared wide-eyed at the landscape. "Aye, 'tis nothing, Penny. Wait until we reach Inverness, that would really be something", giggled Morag, as her daughter looked about curiously. Violet rode in the wagon, holding Beatrice in her lpa. She had finally left Mackenzie lands, as a thrill of anticipation ran through her. We should arrive in Inverness by nightfall. Is it bigger than the village?, she wondered. Daniel drove his wagon, not noticing the landscape. I have ridden on this plain numerous times before, 'tis nothing to get excited about, he thought, seeing Amy and Annaly's wide eyes. |

I can't wait to see what's going to happen. It's sooo hard waiting, especially now. The part with Violet and James and Liam was sad but very nicely written. I hope that Liam will meet James again at some point. He was good for the kid. |

I'm feeling generous, so here's another chapter. And Ashley, there's a big surprise waiting for them in Norway, I hope you like Chapter 75 The entire group arrived in Inverness that evening. The women and children stared wide-eyed at the town, taking in the buildings, the shops, and all the people. Inverness was the largest town in the Highlands. While it was certainly not as big as Glasgow, Edinburgh, or Aberdeen, it was still large compared to the village. They stopped at a ship tied to the dock. It was a majestic sailing ship, it's white sail gleaming against the darkened sky. It bobbed gently on the water, the dark wood creaking slightly as sailors unloaded its cargo. A tall middle-aged man walked over to the group. He resembled the laird, with the same dark hair and eyes. He wore tight black breeches with white socks, and a black jacket over it. His dark hair was pulled back with a leather string, accentuating his leathery, tanned face. "Are ye the men my brother sent?", he asked. James stepped down from the wagon and walked over to him. "Yes, Master Mackenzie. I am James Hetfield, and these are my friends and their families", he replied. "Good, after the men finish loading the shiop, ye board. We sail with the dawn", he replied. "My work here is done. Godspeed, Master Mackenzie", said Commader Howard, saluting them, before he and the soldiers rode away. "Papa, are we going on the boat?", asked Parlan. "Sure we are, son. We leave in the morning", chuckled James. "I have brought some ginger root with me. Everyone eat a piece, it prevents seasickness", ordered Violet, cutting everyone a slice of ginger. "Good idea. I don't want the kids getting seasick. How long until we reach Bergen?", asked Lars. "About two to three weeks, Master Ulrich. It depends on the weather conditions. If the wind is behind us, it may take as little as one week", replied Lachlan. The sailors finished loading the cargo, as the group boarded the ship. Lachlan led them below deck to the cabins. "I am afraid they are quite small. Two families shall have to share a cabin, and the wee children with ye. You will be allowed on deck if the weather is calm", he said. "Okay, we've stayed in worse places than this, trust me", said Kirk diplomatically. "Yeah, I've shared rooms with you, Kirk, that were worse than this", chuckled Cliff. "Ye have? Under what circumstances?", asked Morag, raising an eyebrow. Cliff blushed. "Uh, while on tour. Eh, Kirk's not that bad of a roommate, but Lars snores", he cracked. "Interesting. So we all share one bed?", asked Mary, looking at the bunk dubiously. "Each family gets one bed. It'll be crowded, but we'll manage", shrugged Kirk. |

Wow. Each family in a bed. That's brutal. That's a little toooo cozy for me. At least Violet gave them ginger root. I wonder what the surprise will be. Is it Dave Mustaine naked jumping out of a giant birthday cake??? I can't wait to see how this will unfold. I just hope that everyone stays safe. |

Chapter 76 The next morning at dawn, the ship raised anchor. Violet stood on the deck of the ship, as it bobbed gently up and down. The sails had been unfurled, as the ship slowly moved out of the harbor. Lars joined her on deck, holding Beatrice in his arms. "I know, you're leaving permanently. You wanted a last glimpse of Scotland?", he asked. "Aye, on the one hand, I am excited but I am also sad. I am going to miss Papa", she whispered. They were joined by the rest of the group, along with their wives and children. They silently watched as the docks slowly receded, then the land itself. Finally, all they could see were the tops of the mountains on the horizon. The sailors were busy, doing thier duties. The sun shone upon the blue waters, the cries of seagulls filling the air. The children looked about curiously, taking in the unfamiliar surroundings. Lachlan joined them, along with his first mate, Haakon. "The journey should take two weeks at most. You shall have the hospitality of my house, until ye are able to find employment", he said. "The wind is at our back, no sign of storms. I think it shall be a good voyage", said Haakon, speaking with a heavy Norwegian accent. "If there are storms, go below deck, and do not leave until I tell you. And stay out of the men's way, especially the children", said Lachlan. "We understand. What route are we taking?", asked James. "We go Northeast, Master Hetfield. We shall stop in the Shetlands for a wee bit, we trade our goods in Lerwick. Ye shall have time to stretch your legs. From there, we head east towards Bergen", he replied. "How long until we reach the Shetlands?", asked Kirk. "Five days to a week, depending on the current and the weather, Master Hammett", he replied. "Violet, thanks for giving us ginger. I don't feel sick at all", said Cliff. "Yeah, I married a smart woman", retorted Lars. |

I hope they arrive safely. The thing about the storms worries me a little. I feel so bad for Violet being seperated from her father. I hope that if for some reason Lars has to go back to the present that he'll take her with him. it!!!! Can't wait for more. |

I'm feeling extremely generous, so here's another chapter Chapter 77 They arrived in Bergen two weeks later, as predicted. It had been an uneventful journey, the wind at their back and the weather pleasant. The hold of the ship was full of goods they had obtained at Lerwick. We shall trade them in the market, and then I shall much coin, thought Lachlan. The passengers had all gone on deck, watching as the town came into view. It was a cool, yet sunny day, the blue skies overhead with few clouds. The docks approached, the town emerging from the horizon. Neat brick buildings lined the waterfront, sailors unloading ships tied to the docks. "Bergen is my home, I have lived here for the last twenty years. Inga shall be glad to meet you, she misses me", he chuckled. "Do people here speak English? I hope that's not a dumb question", asked Kirk. "My wife Inga and our children speak English and Gaelic, but most people here speak only Norwegian. I shall translate if necessary", said Lachlan reassuringly. "I was born in Denmark, and can still speak Danish. Danish and Norwegian are close enough that I can understand it. And I taught Violet to speak Danish", he said proudly. "Ja, husband", she chuckled. "That is good to know, Master Ulrich. After the ship is unloaded, I shall take you to my house. I live outside of Bergen, in the hinterlands. It reminds me of Scotland", he said wistfully. "How far is it?", asked James. "About ten miles inland. We shall have horses, or esle we will get there in several days, and Inga will not like that", he replied. An hour later, they had docked and gotten off the ship. The group and their wives rode on horses, and the children followed in a cart, driven by Haakon. "Master Mackenzie, is your house in the mountains?", asked Daniel. "Aye, Master Connolly", he replied. "Jens told me his family lived in the mountains, in a farm outside Bergen", he said thoughtfully. "What is their last name?", he asked. "His family's name is Holmgren. Their farm is near my property. Hans Holmgren is a old friend of mine. Good people, their son Karl is the local pastor", he said. "Damn, it seems like everyone knows everyone. Daniel, you know Jens looks like David Ellefson?", asked Kirk. Daniel raised an eyebrow. "Ellefson? Jens said one of his sisters married a man named Ellefson. He must be kin", he mused aloud. "So Jens must be one David's ancestors. Are we gonna meet the other guys from Megadeth here?", muttered Lars. |
