Don't Tread On Me

Nice thread. I've been thinking about this before!! There are so many songs that have parts that are favorite for me. I'll name some that especially have appeared to me for a long time and still do. Of Wolf and Man - When the solo begins and when it shifts up in key later. Also the 'I feel the Change' part. And on the remaster-dvd the outro, fuck is it heavy with that harmony note! Ain't my Bitch - Before the mid section kicks in he says so nicely: "It ain't my bitch-aaarrggh!". Also the parts after the solo that leads back into the song again. One of my favorite guitar tones ever. Better Than You - "I look at you, then you me...hunry and thirsty I wait" and later on: "Lock horns I push, and I strive". Enter Sandman - At the very last seconds of the song at 5:18 I think...there's this awesome little guitar lick thingy. It's the kind of licks that makes me love Metallica. It's the 90s summers all over when I hear it! Through the Never - The intro, the solo and the part after it. 'We must go On...Through...the...Never...out the edge...." My Friend of Misery - In the outro when James sings the chorus again and kirk solos a bit over that stuff with a lot of wah. The Shortest Straw - The solo. Easily one of Kirk most unique and technical solos. Trapped Under Ice - "No release from my cryonic state..." Sounds so good, especially on the live version from 2000! |

There are so many bits that do that for me... a few would be:- Of Wolf and Man- the 'I feel a change' part, then as it breaks into the long howl. That sends a shiver through me for sure, I always wait for that bit! Creeping Death - 'Die by my hand' part... it's ominous, creepy and just plain wonderful. |

hearing james laugh always brings a smile to my face. My favourite is the line from whiskey "me ha ha i like sleeping" and the insane laughter from the S&M version of the thing that should not be. The laughter at the end of master of puppets. Oh and at the end of Blitzkrieg he burps and laughs and then lars says "i fucked up one place" Am i missing any? i cnat think right now but does he laugh in any others? |

Haha I thought Lars is saying to James: "You fucked up!" (as in 'you fucked up the recording because you burped') |

Creeping Death on Live Shit when everyone starts yelling "Die, Die, Die" Oh man. there is so many to name that I can't think of anymore lol. But if I'm at home in my room with my headphones on and Metallica comes on, I'm standing up and moving around. I just can't sit through a Tallica song. |

Bits that make me headbang: -Intro to "Disposable Heroes". -"Hit The Lights" -Staccato guitars after Kirk's guitar solo in "Battery". Bits that make me close my eyes: -Intro to "No Leaf Clover". -Entire first verse of "Minus Human". -"Opposition...Contradiction...Premonition...Compromise. Agitation...Violation...Mutilation...Planet Dies.", From "Blackened". -"Ride The Lightning" guitar solo. -"Until It Sleeps" chorus. Bits that make me sing out loud: -"Mama, they try and break me" line from "Hero of The Day". -"Anger, misery, you'll suffer unto me" line from "Harvester of Sorrow". -"Enter Sandman" chorus. -"Take a look to the sky just before you die, it's the last time you will." line from "For Whom The Bell Tolls". -James' spoken word part in "Loverman", strictly for laughs. -"...We'll never quit, cause we're METALLICA", from "Whiplash". Bits that make the hairs on the back of my neck straight up: -Last half of "One", especially the "Live Shit:..." version. -"The Outlaw Torn" guitar solo. There's so many more, but I'm too tired to think and categorize. XD |
