They have already said that it's a false news. There is no delay since the date of the release hasn't been decided yet. Every information that is not coming from metallica.com is not reliable. That's all.
Let's hope :)

I do not believe it takes that long to do 'finishing touches'.

They recorded Kill Em All in 2 weeks...and back then they didn't have any of the modern recording technology that they have now.
Black Album, they started writing the stuff in 1990 and the recording and everything took 9 months. So that is no longer than 2 years.
Load, they started writing and working in 1995...the album was there in 1996.
But how long have they been fucking around with this new album now? I guess they are getting old...

Damn really?
I already thought it wasn't reliable because it wasn't on any other sites.
I thought they said february somewhere...but I'm guessing on may 15th, because that seems to be a popular date to release albums for bands.

To me, this rumor is plain stupid. How can an album without a release date EVER given be delayed? It's another rumor like all the others. I'm sure we'll get some real news soon. If it's not Metallica.com/Metclub.com, I wouldn't believe it.

Metallica's Management Releases Statement

Source :
http://www.roadrunnerrecords.com/blabbermo...ewsitemID=89095

A representative for METALLICA's management has responded to a report on StereoWarning.com which claimed that "sources from the band's record label" have said that the group's new album has "been delayed again" to a September release. The representative told The Pulse of Radio that the disc has not been "delayed" since there "has never been an actual release date." As for when the record was likely to surface, the representative said, "It will be out when it's ready."

METALLICA began working on its ninth studio album in 2006. Since then the group has taken its time to write and record the new disc, but drummer Lars Ulrich told The Pulse of Radio it isn't hard to stay inspired even 25 years into the band's career. "I don't use the word 'career,' 'hunger,' I use more words like 'fun,'" he said. "As long as we keep it fun for ourselves and keep it kind of manageable, the days of the word 'career' and the business and, I don't know, it just seems kind of part of the past. Now it's just about, like, having fun and wanting to do it. You know, as long as it doesn't turn into too much work, it's not hard to be inspired."

METALLICA has been recording the new album with producer Rick Rubin after ending a 15-year collaboration with Bob Rock.

The new METALLICA CD will follow up 2003's controversial "St. Anger".

As late as last October, Ulrich said in interviews that he expected the new album to arrive in February of 2008.

METALLICA has booked a number of European festival appearances starting in late May, although it has yet to schedule any North American dates.

"The album will be out when its ready." No actual release date has been set either.

But I've heard that february stuff before...so IMO you may speak of 'delayed' when it's actually gonna be later then february.
I'm glad that Ultimate Guitar news was bullshit. They have more of this shit lately.

Man, they really need to hurry up. I understand that they're having fun (and getting old), but maybe the should forget about their SUMMER TOURING here and there and focus on their work. Of course, I'm happy that they're coming because it's thanks to their summer europe touring that I will have seen them twice by june.

But still, it's pretty ridiculous. I hope it's just a rumour.

Yeah all the touring is delaying their album work.
And are the tours really different when the new album still isn't there?
When a new album is out, they will add the new songs to the setlist. What we've had now were 2 demo versions that aren't even gonna be on the album.

I understand that they like to play live...that would be my favorite part of being in a band too..but why always come to Europe every summer now? I know the Americans are very hungry to see them. I'm not from America, but I wish them the same enjoyment as we were/are getting.
