Kirk's Cross Necklace; He's always wearing it . . .

Does anybody know about this necklace's origins - who gave it to him, and the reason?

He is always wearing it. Naturally we could probably conclude that he is no longer a Catholic as he was raised. I've seen him quote that he "believes in God but not organized religion", but others have assumed that he is Buddhist!

I don't suppose anybody knows whether he wears the cross for Catholicism, Christianity in general, or for neither?

I doubt very much it's Catholicism or Christianity. I think I remember reading that he was very into eastern philosophy at one time, so the Buddhist theory might be right.

But if he were Buddhist why would he wear a cross necklace? Just wouldn't seem like a Buddhist would want to be mistaken as Christian. Maybe he's not sure what he believes in.

Could be for sentimental reasons? Maybe it belonged to a family member or something....who knows, lol.

True. That does sound like something he would do . . . especially now that, after all these years, he has discovered that he is indeed a family man :P

Yeah, seems as though Agnostics are less staunch on crosses and even Christian holidays such as Christmas and Easter.

Before I became a Christian I was an Atheist, and back then refused to have any kind of symbol of a cross or have anything to do with Christmas or Easter . . .

I just wonder, cross being put aside, what Kirk really believes in haha.

He's probably spiritual...like karma and stuff. Stuff you dont have to believe or worship basically...its just nice.
And dont get me wrong i can be pretty maltheistic when i want to be...but to me...a lot of symbols like the cross were nicked at some point in time from pagans. There's some evidence of the cross being quite a astronomical symbol. It's existed in one form or another before christianity. So its not technically there's, im reclaiming it...and easter too coz of the equinox and all. One thing puzzles me...how does a rabbit lay an egg? *scratches head* Anyway. Im sure he's said something about his cross before.

Yeah he probably has, but unfortunately I have missed it. I just wish I or someone else could recover any instances where he talked about it.

I would agree that he was probably experimenting with something that had no relation to Christianity. He certainly has experimented with karma before, and karma is associated with Buddhism.

Kurious Kirk, searching for the truth . . . :P
