Chapter 61

Catriona lay in bed, her eyes wide open. She had trouble sleeping, tossing and turning in frustration. Andrew was fast asleep beside her, his soft breathing the only sound in the room.

She sighed and carefully got out of bed, tossing a robe over her slip. Maybe I ought to get a glass of milk, she mused.

Catriona was surprised to see Dave in the kitchen. A half-empty glass of milk was in front of him, his face buried in a book. His head slowly lifted, his eyes widening in surprise when he saw her.

"Couldn't sleep either, Kitty? Let me get you some milk", he said, opening the refrigerator.

"Thanks. What are you reading?", she asked.

"It's a Japanese phrasebook. I want to memorize some phrases so I don't look like a total dork", he joked, pouring her a glass of milk.

"Most people in Japan speak pretty good English, Dave", she replied.

"Yeah, but I want to be able to speak to Marty. You know he lives in Japan, right? Well, he's got a show called Rock Fujiyama, it's on Japanese MTV. I was talking to him back in San Diego, he wants us on the show. We're going to be on Japanese TV, Miss Kitty", he chuckled.

"Awesome, we have this weird Japanese channel back home, they show a lot of game shows and stuff. They look strange, I hope it is not going to be like that", she said, making a face.

"Marty assured me that we're not going to drink any wasabi juice or stuff like that. He and his partner Rolly are going to interview us, some kids are going to ask questions, stuff like that. Me and Marty are still friends, we try to keep in touch. Man, you should see him now. He's living his dream, living in Japan and hosting a Japanese TV show", he sighed.

"Is the show in Japanese, because the only Japanese I know is konichiwa, and anything related to sushi", she said, blushing.

"Hey, don't sweat it, Miss Kitty. The show is in Japanese, but Marty's going to interview us in English and then Rolly translates it", he explained.

"Oh, great", she sighed in relief.

Dave finished his milk and rinsed out the cups. He took her hand, a gleam in his eyes as they boldly raked over her body. Catriona wore a black velvet robe trimmed with dark red satin, her auburn hair in a long braid down her back. The top button of the robe was undone to reveal the swell of her breast, the creamy skin a contrast to the black velvet.

"Follow me, Miss Kitty", he whispered, taking her hand.

He led her to his room, carefully shutting the door behind him. Dave turned on the light, the desire in his eyes making her weak in the knees. He joined her on the bed, shrugging out of his blue velvet robe. He took her into his arms and kissed her, slowly removing the robe from her body. His eyes glowed with lust, eying her slim body clad in the black lacy slip. The black lace hugged her body, the material almost transparent.

"You are so beautiful", he murmured, sliding the slip off her body. It pooled at her feet, the thin scrap of black cloth falling to the floor. Dave's gaze raked over her body, eying her hungrily.

He kissed her gently, his hand on her breast. The nipple instantly hardened as she mewled softly. Dave deepened the kiss, as his hand moved lower and stroked her thigh. "You naughty girl, you're wet already", he chuckled, parting her legs and stroking her. She stifled a moan as his teasing fingers gently moved inside her.

She breathed heavily, biting her lip to keep from moaning. Dave's long fingers stroked her heated flesh, the fire in her belly tightening. He broke the kiss as his lips fastened onto a breast, the nipple rising under his tongue. Catriona lay back in his arms, her heart pounding inside her chest. His lips and fingers were driving her wild, yet she had to stifle her moans so not to wake up the others.

"Don't make a sound, Kitty. Do you want everyone to hear you?", he whispered slyly, knowing she was on edge. Dave relented and kissed her, as she cried out against his lips.

While they kissed, he lay on top of her, his tongue probing between her lips. Catriona wrapped her arms around his neck, feeling the warmth of his body atop hers. He broke the kiss, his hazel eyes looking into hers, his hand parting her legs. Without a word, he thrust into her body.

Catriona bit back a moan, her eyes widening when she felt him enter her. Dave kissed her again, as he began to move into her body. She clutched onto his shoulders, her legs around his waist. He groaned in approval as his tongue imitated the movements of his body, relishing the warmth of her.

She felt close to her peak, feeling her stomach muscles clench in anticipation. Dave continued to kiss her, feeling close himself. He stifled
her cry with his lips as he thrust one last time into her body, releasing into her warmth.

They lay in each other's arms, panting and sweaty. "I'm sure that was better than a glass of milk", he teased.

"Very funny, Dave. I do hope no one heard us", she giggled.

"Bad girl, you gotta go back to your room", he said sadly.

Catriona kissed him and got out of bed. "Good night, Dave", she said.

"Oyasumi nasai, Miss Kitty", he murmured, as she left the room.

That's cool that Dave was brushing up on his Japanese. I want to learn Japanese. I guess I should go to Japan and then I will have a very good reason too.

Kitty's robe sounded luxurious. At lot nicer than the unsexy jersey that I sleep in.

This is the museum they go to: Hermitage

Chapter 62

"I hope you like the Hermitage, kiska. It is so huge, they have virtually everything there", said Andrew, as they approached the museum.

Dave, Andrew, and Catriona were standing outside the Hermitage, the massive, elegant white marble building looming before them. Crowds of people stood waiting outside the building, waiting for the doors to open.

"We must buy the foreigner tickets, even though they are expensive", said Andrew.

"What for?", asked Catriona.

"If you buy the Russian ticket and you're a foreigner, you can get arrested", said Dave.

"Damn, it better be worth it", she chuckled sardonically.

The doors of the museum opened, as the mass of people swarmed inside like bees entering a hive. Andrew bought three tickets, handing one to each.

"I have been here so many times, I will be your guide. Follow me", he said, taking a map from a booth.

"You're gonna love it, Kitty. Like he said, they got everything, from ancient prehistoric stuff to paintings and furnishings from the palaces. The kids loved it, Justis liked the Scythian art and weapons and Electra liked the portraits and furniture. Even Pam liked some of the stuff, anyway, let's roll", said Dave.

Andrew was good as his word, guiding them through the enormous complex. It covered everything from prehistoric Russian and Siberian artifacts to medieval art and icons, to opulent portraits and furnishings owned by the czars themselves.

Kitty's eyes widened in delight, as they browsed the paintings. "Wow, these guys had good taste", she said, smiling when she recognized a Rubens and a Titian.

"Yeah, it's good to be the king. I can't tell one from another, though, I don't know crap about art. I've heard of Rubens, but who's Titian?", asked Dave, a slight flush on his cheeks.

"He was an Italian painter of the Renaissance. He's one of my favorites, along with Botticelli. Uncle Lars taught me about art, he's a collector. But he prefers modern art, he likes Basquiat and Warhol, for some reason. I personally like Renaissance and Baroque art, but I adore the Pre-Raphaelites. Rossetti, Waterhouse, those guys", she said, carefully examining a landscape by Rembrandt.

"Damn, I got a lot to learn about art", he chuckled weakly.

"I prefer fantasy art myself, Alan Lee, Ted Nasmith, Michael Kaluta, blokes like that. But I do like the Pre-Raphaelites, especially Rossetti. The women in his paintings look like you, kiska, with their red hair", said Andrew thoughtfully.

"I definetly gotta go to an art gallery", said Dave.

"I don't know, they mostly have ugly modern art that looks like someone puked on the canvas. Uncle Lars likes that, oh well, it's his money", she shrugged, pointing to a Mondrian.

"I never got into that either. It looks like something my kids would've come up with in kindergarten", said Dave, making a face.

They exited the gallery and entered a room displaying the furnishings from some of the great estates. Their eyes widened in shock when they saw all the stuff: enormous mahogany beds with silk canopies and precious stones; tables and chairs with cloth of gold cushions; delicate porcelain plates and utensils; robes encrusted with jewels and made of delicate silk; statues made of pure gold and silver, all of it dazzling.

"Well, I've known my share of rich people, but these noblemen must've been super rich, damn", whispered Catriona in awe.

"Yeah, one of these statues must cost more than my house", said Dave, examining a pair of statues. They were two fat naked cherubs embracing each other, both made of solid gold. Their eyes were made of real emeralds, the whites of their eyes diamonds and their lips made of rubies.

"Yeah, it probably costs more than any of uncle's houses", she said.

"I know, let's see the rest of the museum", said Andrew.

That musuem sounded badass. Pretty amazing stuff. :)

I'm envious that they have all of this down time to go sightseeing while on tour.

This made me laugh

YAY! The Hermitage!! *dances* Of course, I've never been but we studied it a lot in college. I love the fact they sell a pass that lets people take photographs. So many museums won't let you take ANY photos. It drives me batty.

I LOVED this chapter.

Yeah Maggie, I read that in guidebooks, there's one price for Russians and another for tourists. The price for Russians is much lower than the one for tourists, this is to ensure the museum gets more money. And since the ticket sellers are often elderly Russian women, you can't fool them into thinking that you're a Russian, and yes, you can get arrested for that :o And this is Ville Valo, who wants to meet them after the show:
Ville Valo And these are the bands they are going to see:
Negative
The Rasmus
HIM

Chapter 63

"So, what's the surprise, Andrew?", she asked.

He grinned slyly at her, adjusting the blindfold. "Just relax and follow me, kiska. I know you are really going to like it", she chuckled.

They were out that evening. Dave had decided to stay with Dmitri and Michelle, but both him and Andrew had sly, knowing looks on their faces.

Catriona felt Andrew take her hand and lead her inside a car. She heard him talk in Russian to the driver, as the car drove away. I know we're in a cab, I got that much. But why didn't we just drive?, she wondered.

The cab stopped an hour later. She could hear the rustle of money being exchanged as Andrew led her out of the cab.

He untied the blindfold from around her face, as she blinked several times. They were outside an arena somewhere in the suburbs. The enormous, squat concrete building crouched like a monster about to attack it's prey, the bright lights looking like so many pairs of eyes.

"What is this?", she asked.

"We are here to see a show, kiska. I made the reservations several months ago", he said.

The area outside the arena was crowded with teenagers and young couples. Most of the them were girls dressed in a Gothic style, while the others were young men in punk clothes. Loud chatter in Russian surrounded them, the excited voices like the buzzing of insects.

"Who's playing?", she asked.

"It is HIM, The Rasmus and Negative, they are doing a tour of Russia. I managed to get tickets before they sold out. And it turns out the Ville Valo is a fan of ours, he wants to meet us after the show", he said, smiling at the shocked look on her face.

"Oh shit, the Love Metal God himself wants to meet us! Wait until I tell Shane", she giggled.

"That was the surprise, kiska. I know you would like it", he chuckled, leading her inside.

The arena was a drab, concrete place, all heavy-handed and gloomy, smelling vaguely of mold. But the fans filed into the building, their happy voices lifting the gloom.

The stage was already set up, the roadies making last-minute adjustments to the equipment. At center stage stood Ville Valo himself. He was dressed casually in jeans and a Rolling Stones t-shirt, his dark hair just grazing his shoulders.

Most of the girls squealed in delight, the sound almost deafening. Ville just smiled at them, his green eyes twinkling with amusement. "Relax, darlings. The show won't be far", he murmured in his husky, resonant baritone with his Finnish accent.

"I think I am about to faint", she sighed.

"Don't, because you will not be able to meet him later. You will be the envy of all the girls here", he chuckled.

Cool. I actually know all about HIM but have never heard their music. (Typical of me...) I remember when a ton of people were getting Heartagram tattoos and I was totally mystified by the symbol so I did a ton of research on it.

I can't wait to hear about the show!

Yeah, thanks for the links. I have heard of HIM but not the others.
That was nice of Andrew to take her to a show. My hubby does that for me, because I'm too cheap to ever spend my money on anything fun. He doesn't blindfold me.

Enjoy the concert, ladies :wink And this is where I got my username

Chapter 64

An hour later, the opening band Negative came onstage to the cheers of the crowd. They were a five-piece band who resembled a more frilly, androgynous version of Poison, but their sound was more like Guns 'N Roses.

Their lead singer Jonne Aaron was as beautiful as a woman, with his pale blond hair and too-pretty face, but his tenor was clearly male. The girls sighed and squealed in delight when he gazed at them, a hint of forbidden desire in his blue eyes and pouty lips.

The small pit formed in front of the stage, but most of the girls were too busy singing and gazing at Jonne to care. The band played most of their older songs, throwing in some new material from their new album.

"All right, this is for you ladies in the crowd", he said in his heavily accented English, as the band played In My Heaven. The girls sighed with longing as he sang, thousands of eyes riveted to his beauty.

The band finished the song to cheers from the crowd, leaving the stage. Roadies quickly removed their equipment and set up the other stuff, as the lights dimmed.

The Rasmus took the stage, the backdrop falling behind them which depicted midnight in a forest with the band's name prominently displayed.

The girls cheered as they played Bullet, one of their earlier songs. Catriona smiled in delight, recognizing the older song. Andrew chuckled and took her into his arms, embracing her.

The lead singer, Lauri Ylonen, smiled at the crowd, his green eyes merry in his round face. "Hello, St. Petersburg. It is an honor to play for you tonight, now we will play a song we do not play as often, I felt we have ought to", he said in shy, hesitant English. The band played If You Ever, the crowd cheering when they recognized the obscure B-side.

"I can't believe it, they played it. I thought they'd forgotten it", she said, a goofy smile on her face.

There was a pause while the group got out their acoustic guitars and sat on wooden stools. A hush fell on the crowd as they played Last Waltz, Chill, Funeral Song and Lucifer's Angel.

Catriona felt a chill go down her spine as Lauri sang Lucifer's Angel. The lyrics about the condemned witch frightened her, the lyrics evoking the horror of the poor girl's suffering:

Behind those eyes lies the truth and grief
Behind those beautiful smiles I've seen tragedy
The flawless skin hides the secrets within
Silent forces that secretly ignite your sins

[Chorus:]
Fly away, fly away
From the torch of blame
They hunt you
The Lucifer's Angels
Never lived, you never died
Your life has been denied
They call you
The Lucifer's Angel

Beyond these clouds you can hide all your tears
Beyond this world you'll be safe from their wicked fears
And in their hearts they fear your demands
You know their minds won't accept you, they'll never understand

[Chorus]

On your own I know you can make it
Truth or bone. I know you can shake it
Survive alone I know you can take it

[Chorus]

Fly away, fly away
Run away, run away
Hide away, hide away
Lucifer's Angel

"It is nothing, kiska", said Andrew, holding her close.

The band closed with In The Shadows, the bass-heavy and celebratory number causing the girls to start dancing. Andrew took her in his arms and they danced, the gloom forgotten.

"Thank you, St. Petersburg. You have been a great crowd", announced Lauri, as the group left the stage.

Half an hour later, HIM took to the stage, the roar of the crowd like a feral beast. Ville surveyed them, an amused gleam in his green eyes. He was dressed elegantly in tailored black slacks and a black satin smoking jacket trimmed with plush red velvet, a contrast to his alabaster pale skin. His wavy dark hair fell loose to his shoulders, a cool smile on his full lips.

The band played Buried Alive by Love, the loud fast song a perfect opener. Ville looked the picture of the handsome, Gothic frontman, his gaze cool and impassive. A slight smile formed on his lips as the girls yelled ecstatically.

"Darlings, this song is for you ladies of Russia", he said huskily, as the lovely, delicate piano melody of The Sacrament filled the air. The crowd was silent as Burton, the band's keyboardist, played a haunting piano melody, the beauty of the music like fragile teardrops. The band joined him on the first verse, Ville crooning the passionate lyrics.

"One day kiska, I will make love to you with that song in the background. It is the perfect compliment to your beauty", he whispered, gently nuzzling her throat as she shivered with desire.

The band ended with The Path, starting off with an ominous keyboard sound. The song steadily got louder, ascending to ever loftier peaks. The roar of the crowd grew louder, as the song built to its climax.

"You have been such a wonderful crowd, St. Petersburg. Good night, darlings and I hope you realize how lucky you are", he chuckled, as the girls squealed with delight.
