I'm on a writing tear lately, so here's another chapter for you ladies And this is the church they visit: Urnes Stave ChurchChapter 113 Shane, Natalya and Gunther stood on the deck of the ship as it approached the Hardangerfjord. It was a wide gash in the rocky shore, blue waters meeting the green of the land. Sheer cliffs rose up almost at a 90 degree angel, tiny protruding ledges hanging precariously on the face of the rock. "Wow, it is beautiful", said Natalya. "That is nothing, Fraulein Stankowski. The ones further north are much more impressive", said Gunther. Shane put a hand on her hip possessively, giving him a look. "I do not want your girlfriend, Shane. I have a girl back in Hamburg, I do not steal other men's women", he said, throwing his hands in the air. "Sorry about that, dude. But I got a possessive streak, no one messes with my girl", he chuckled. "Tak, you are such a bad boy, Shane", she chided, as he blushed. The boat entered the fjord, as everyone came on deck to see. Most of the tourists took out their cameras and threw pictures, oohing and aahing. Natalya took several pictures on the digital camera and handed it to Shane. He smiled in approval, scanning the pictures. "These are really good, lalka. I can't wait to show Mom and Kitty", he said. Several hours later, the ferry docked at the town of Urnes on the Lustrafjord. It was pretty little town right on the edge of the water, small wooden house in cheerful pastel colors. Several young children waved to them, bright smiles on their faces as they greeted the ferry. "We have an hour to stretch our legs, there's a stave church in town", said Gunther. Natalya felt her knees buckle under her when she touched dry ground. Shane immediately scooped her up into his arms, concern on his face. "Shane, what happened?", she whispered. "It's the ship, lalka. You'll be fine in a bit", he replied, holding her in his arms as though she weighed nothing. "It's a bit of a walk, are you going to be all right?", asked Gunther, raising an eyebrow. Shane put her down. She smiled when her feet felt steady, nodding in agreement. Gunther led them up the crest of a hill beyond the town. It was a low, grassy hill covered in tiny yellow and white wildflowers, their subtle fragrance hanging in the breeze. Below them they could see the village and the ferry bobbing on the tranquil blue waters. On the crest of the hill with snow-capped mountains as a backdrop, was the stave church. It was an odd, ungainly three story structure, the roof made of straw. On each corner, carved wooden dragon's heads glared, their mouths open in silent screams with their tongues hanging out. A carved wooden panel at the entrance showed monsters and demons i almost photographic detail, the border made of entwined snakes. "It is 45 kronor to see the interior", said the elderly caretaker. They paid and entered the gloomy interior of the church. Several torches on the wall cast eerie shadows on the dark walls. The interior of the church was dark musty, the atmosphere like something out of a Gothic novel. Carvings of monsters and dragons adorned the walls, the torchlight making them almost jump out at them. Natalya clung to Shane fearfully, her eyes wide. The creatures looked so eerie in the torchlight, their flashing eyes and bared fangs more menacing in the flickering light. "Don't worry, lalka. We'll be leaving in a few minutes", he said reassuringly. "What sort of church is that? It is so dark", she said, hastily crossing herself. "Yeah, I thought Mom's church was creepy, but that place gave me the willies", he shuddered. "Let's go back to the boat", said Gunther. |

This is the coastal route that is going to feature prominently in some of the chapters: Hurtigrute Chapter 114 "It is so odd to be packing to leave at night", remarked Natalya, closing her suitcase. Shane finished packing his own suitcase and faced her. "I know, but the Hurtigrute ferry leaves at 8:00 p.m., we'll arrive at Trondheim at noon tomorrow. And the ferry's more relaxing than the bus, we got a cabin for our privacy", he murmured, nuzzling her throat. Natalya playfully slapped him. "Tak, you are such a bad boy, Shane. I do wish to show Papa the pictures of the fjords, they were so beautiful", she sighed. "I know, I wanna show Mom and Kitty too. When we get on the ship, we'll get something to eat and go to the cabin. After Trondheim, that's when the scenery gets more rugged, that's the last real city before we go north", he said. Shane and Natalya took their luggage downstairs and walked towards the dock. The sun had set hours ago, the bright yellow moon shining down on the town. It was reflected in the dark still waters of the harbor, the gentle waves lapping at the pier. The ship lay moored at the dock, a sizable crowd waiting to board. The ship's whistle tooted as the people began to board. Shane and Natalya grabbed their bags and boarded the ship. He led them below deck via an elevator to the cabins. "Our cabin's down here, or else you'll have to sleep on the floor of the lounge", he explained. The corridor had a brown and orange paisley carpet on the floor and bare dark wood walls. On each door was a brass plaque with a number, gleaming in the dim light of the hallway. Shane opened the door and took their luggage inside. Their cabin was small and comfortable, dominated by a medium-sized bed covered in a rich dark brown and burnt orange comforter, a dark brown carpet on the floor and dark green walls. Next to the bed was a dark wood nightstand with a porcelain lamp and a clock radio, a Gideon Bible next to the clock. Natalya opened a bag and set out the toiletries, a nightgown and a change of clothes. "Smart girl", he chuckled, putting away his own things. "Now let's go to the cafeteria and get something to eat. It's open 24 hours a day, but I'm hungry now", he said. She nodded and quickly checked her reflection in the mirror. "I didn't know you were so vain, lalka'', he teased. "I do not want to go to eat looking badly, Shane. It is a female thing", she retorted. "I'm just messing with you, lalka. Some girls don't care at all, don't worry, you'd look good even in a potato sack", he chuckled. The cafeteria was located on the deck of the ship near the center. It was half-full, most of the other passengers having settled in their cabins or the lounge. The shore had receded from view, only a flat line on the horizon showing. The sea was dark and calm, reaching up to meet an equally dark sky studded with millions of tiny white stars and a big yellow moon. Shane and Natalya grabbed their trays from a pile and got in line. It resembled a high school cafeteria with the white-aproned cooks serving portions of food from trays and large drinks from an ice chest. Long benches and tables were set up in the dining area, bright fluorescent lights shining overhead. The food looked surprisingly good: meats and fish dishes, steamed vegetables, potatoes, fruit and even cake and ice cream. They selected their food and paid, finding an empty spot. Shane handed her a straw and napkins, as they began to eat. "Not bad at all, this is much better than the high school cafeteria", he said, taking a bite of his ham. "I have never had American cafeteria food before, but I have heard of it. Did they really serve the mystery meat?", she giggled. Shane took a sip of his iced tea. "Yeah, and gray burgers and gooey mac and cheese and the milk was always warm. Gross", he said, making a face. "Oh, that is horrible. I would eat it anyway, it is bad to waste food, but that is terrible", she commented, drinking her soup. "I've never been farther in Norway than Bergen, this is new for both of us. Trondheim is the last real city before we heard north, the towns are a lot smaller there. Don't worry, we won't be sleeping outside or starving, but it might get a bit rough", he said. "I do not mind, a little roughness is not bad. At least I am with you, Shane", she giggled. "Bad girl. But I don't mind, I like the bad girls", he joked. "I know, I like the bad boys", she giggled. "Of course, I'll be a bad boy for you later", he said slyly, as they finished eating. |

The food on that boat sounded pretty good. Natalya asking about mystery meat made me laugh. When I worked at this one hotel the food in the employee cafeteria was so horrible. I lived on peanut butter and ice cream practically. They served us shit like goat. It was nasty. I can't wait for them to get to Trondheim and read about the next adventure!!! |

That church sounded AMAZING. It would be so awesome to be able to explore something built before the US was even a country. I think too many Americans (me included) have no sense of the fact that structures exist from almost a thousand years ago. We just think of "pyramids" or Stonehedge when people talk about things built before 1776. The boat they were taking sounded really nice. I'd love to take a trip like that someday. Your stories teach me so much- I had no idea Scandanavia had some many things to see. Amazing!! |

Thanks Maggie for catching up, I hope you and Anna had a great time. Later on, we're going to my cousin's house down by the shore, we're going to have a barbecue My cousin's wife recently had a baby girl named Ava, she's so cute with brown hair, big blue eyes and freckles I can't wait to see them, Mom got the baby a pink nightgown set with matching booties, she's going to love it Chapter 115 Shane and Natalya finished eating their food and left the cafeteria. The dark velvet sky above was punctuated with an untold number of twinkling stars, reflected in the still waters below. By now, they were well away from land, just the dark sea around them. "The stars are so bright here", she murmured, looking up at the sky. Shane hugged her from behind, lifting his eyes to the sky and smiling. "Yeah, I haven't seen stars this bright since I went camping as a kid. We won't see the Midnight Sun until we're above the Arctic Circle, we should reach it in a few days", he said. He took her hand and led her to their cabin. Natalya kicked off her shoes and sat down on the bed. Shane sat next to her and loosened her braids. He smiled in delight as the golden strands came loose, running his fingers through the blond mass. She sighed in pleasure and leaned against him, relishing the feel of his touch. "Shall we, lalka?", he asked. "Shane, what will the other people here us?", she asked, moaning as he bit her throat. "We'll give them a show then", he chuckled, kissing her lips. They undressed each other as their mouths exchanged hungry kisses, their clothes falling to the floor. Natalya lay back on the bed, wearing only her panties with her hair loose around her body. Shane took her into his arms and kissed her, his hand squeezing a breast. She moaned as her nipple hardened instantly under his touch. He chuckled in triumph as his lips moved lower down her body to fasten onto a breast. Natalya moaned softly, her hands clutching onto his hair. Shane buried his face in her breasts, feasting on her sweet flesh. He growled with lust when he felt her fingers in his hair, her soft moans of pleasure ringing in her ears. He suckled on her taut nipples, the hard little peaks rising under his tongue. "Ooh Shane", she mewled. He gave each nipple one final kiss and lifted his face from her breasts. Shane kissed her gently before sliding her panties down her legs, followed by his own underwear. Natalya moaned in delight when he parted her thighs and stroked her moist, aroused flesh. Her eyes sparkled as she cooed in delight, moving her hips as he toyed with her. Shane removed his fingers as she whimpered with need. "Greedy little vixen, just you wait", he murmured. He lay flat on the bed, a gleam in his blue eyes. "I want you to ride me, baby doll", he said. Shane took her hands and sat her on his lap. Natalya stroked him as he groaned with lust. She then straddled his hips and sat on his erection, her eyes widening as she sank onto him. Shane groaned at the sensation, her warmth surrounding him. He smiled at the delighted look on her face, grasping her hips. "Just move up and down on me, baby doll", he murmured. Natalya followed his instruction, cooing in delight when she felt him go deep within her. "I knew you'd like it, lalka", he gasped, watching as she moved up and down on him. His hands cupped her breasts as they bobbed in his face. She mewled softly at the added pleasure, feeling him toy with her hard pink nipples. Shane could feel her tighten around him, her moans and gasps becoming louder. "I know, I'm close too", he growle.d "Oh Shane, tak, oh yes, ohh!", she moaned as her climax ripped through her body. Shane muttered curses under his breath as he thrust one last time into her body. Natalya shuddered again when she felt the warmth of his seed enter her body. They lay in each other's arms, sweaty and satiated. Shane embraced her, stroking her hair. "That was a great dessert, baby doll", he chuckled. Natalya kissed him, her blue eyes twinkling with amusement. "You are such a naughty boy, Shane, but I like it", she giggled. "I know, good night, baby doll", he whispered, turning off the light. |

Thanks everyone Unfortunately, there were thunderstorms down by the shore, but it was dry just enough so my cousin could grill some burgers and hot dogs. The baby loved her present, and we all ate too much and passed out when we got home, but not before being stuck in traffic on the Garden State Parkway, everyone was heading home from the shore. And this is Trondheim: TrondheimChapter 116 Shane and Natalya stood on the deck of the ferry as the city of Trondheim came into view. It was a medium-sized city on the banks of the broad Nidelva River, on the edge of the Trondheimsfjord. The skyline was modest, the tallest building the cathedral. "Well just get to the hotel and relax for a bit, then we can do some walking", he said. The ship docked on the quay several minutes later. "Hvor til?", asked the taxi driver. "The Brittania Hotel", replied Shane. "Oh, you are American then? Is this your first visit to Trondheim?", asked the driver, speaking with a heavy Norwegian accent. "Yeah, I've only been to Oslo and Bergen. I'm Shane Burton and this is my girlfriend, Natalya Stankowski", he said. "Very glad to meet you, we don't see many Americans here. Are you going to Nordkapp?", asked the driver. "Yeah, but we got time. I want to show her the Midnight Sun", said Shane. "Ja, that is good. Well, the sun sets late around nine here, and rises at four. If you are to do any sightseeing, you have time. You will see the Midnight Sun above the Arctic Circle. I hope you enjoy your visit", said the driver, stopping in front of the hotel. The Brittania Hotel was pleasant five-story building with a warm brick facade. The walkway leading up to the hotel was lined with pine trees and white rosebushes, their pleasant aroma hanging in the air. The interior was elegant yet cozy, putting them at ease. The floor was of highly polished dark wood draped with woolen beige rugs, the walls painted a warm burnt orange. A small fountain splashed merrily, the cool water bubbling happily, surrounding by cream leather couches. The clerk looked up and smiled when he saw them approach. "God dag", he said politely. "Reservations under Burton", he replied. "Ja, here is the key, Herr Burton. Enjoy your stay here", said the clerk. They took the elevator to the fourth floor. The corridor was done in the same style as the lobby, but with a brown Paisley rug on the floor. Each dark wood door had a brass plate with a number attached, giving it an elegant look. Shane opened the door and led them in. The room was small yet elegant, the carpet made of plush green velvet and the walls the same color. The bed was large and covered with a warm deep blue velvet quilt with matching pillows trimmed with lace. The dresser and nightstand were of dark pine wood, a clock and a porcelain lamp on the nightstand. "I know, this is nice. The hotels further north are more spartan, I intend to enjoy sleeping in a really nice bed", he chuckled slyly. "This is so nice, Shane. And there's a Jacuzzi", she giggled, opening the door. "Hmm, that gives me an idea, lalka. Just you wait", he chuckled, a gleam in his blue eyes. |
