I loved those last two chapters! I love reading about the family lives of characters.

I hope the computer transfer went okay. I went from a desktop machine to a laptop several years ago and I'm glad- no machinery to move around!!

Well, the transfer came out pretty good, we got knocked offline for a few minutes, but it happened in the old location occasionally, it's one of those things. I'm just a pessimistic person, I'm not the most optimistic person in the world. Anyway, happy Saturday morning, ladies :)

Chapter 174

"Isn't that cute, Justis is going on a date", giggled Catriona, flopping down on the bed.

"I know, she's a bold girl, but at leas he's going to get the girl. It's a bummer her brother has to go with her, but it's better than nothing. Justis is a good kid, but he'd better be careful", said Dave, joining her on the bed.

"Poor kid, I bet that's how Uncle James is going to act when Cali and Marcella grow up. Except he's going to get the shotgun out, and Uncle James has got a lot of shotguns", she laughed.

"Me too. When Electra grows up, I'm going to get the shotgun out", he vowed.

"But Dave, you don't have a shotgun", she chided.

"I'll get a permit, Miss Kitty", he retorted.

Dave's expression grew serious, as he took her into his arms. "Kitty, what do you think of the kids?", he asked.

Catriona became thoughtful. "I like them, Dave. Justis is just like you, and he's a good boy and a terrific guitar player. And Electra's a sweetie, she said she wanted a dress like I wore in Kiss of the Nightingale, and we watched Hannah Montana together", she replied.

"I like your answer, Kitty, you're honest. Yeah, Justis goes to a Christian school, the nuns are really strict with the kids. And Electra goes to an all-girls school", he replied.

"Are you a Christian, Dave?", she asked.

"Sort of, I do believe in God, and there is a heaven and hell, all that. I was raised Jehovah's Witness, but I didn't believe in anything for the longest time. When I got sober, I started going to church, but I'm not any specific Christian", he replied.

"I was raised Catholic, Mom's family is Catholic, but Dad himself was an atheist, his family is half Baptist and half Methodist. Mom is quite devout, she and Uncle Kirk's mom go to the same church, they got to Mass every Sunday. I go occasionally, but Shane hardly goes. He goes more often now because Natalya's dad is very Catholic, he'd hate it if his daughter was dating a heathen", she giggled.

"The things we do for love, Miss Kitty. I'm not sure if you know this, But Alice is a Christian, he's been trying to get me to go to church with him. He's born-again", he explained.

"Cool, good for him. What about you, Dave. Do you want to go?", she asked, toying with his hair.

"Not really, Kitty. The born-again stuff isn't for me, it's not my thing. Would I be welcome in church?", he asked.

"Of course, but you won't be able to take Communion, you're not Catholic. Do you want to go?", she asked.

"I don't know, I mean, between my past, my job, and our previous relationship, I might get struck down by lightning", he chuckled sardonically.

"Don't say that, Dave", she chided.

Catriona took a deep breath and took out a piece of paper. "Dave, I wrote some lyrics last night. I hope they aren't too emo", she whispered, handing him the paper.

Dave unfolded the paper and read the lyrics. His eyes widened in surprise when he read them, nodding slightly. "Wow, these are really good. Did you write them about Andrew?", he asked.

"Yeah, the idea came to me when I was watching Hannah Montana with Electra. It came in a flash, and I had to write them down", she explained.

"That's good, sometimes songs come to you like that. Is this the first song you've written?", he asked.

"I've had ideas for songs, lyrics mostly. I showed them to Andrew but he didn't like that, he said we're only going to do his songs", she said, an edge in her voice.

"Asshole. I know he's a talented lyricist and guitarist, but his ego's getting too big. I ought to have a talk with him about that", he said.

Catriona leaned over and kissed him. "Let's not talk about that, Dave. Let's do something else", she whispered huskily.

This was a GREAT chapter. Fantastic!! So much in it- and I just LOVE how Dave and Kitty communicate. They are so good together!

And Andrew continues to prove himself to be a huge and total douchebag.

Great stuff, as always!!

I like it that Kitty's mom and Ma Hammett go to the same church. :) I like that Dave was very very honest about not wanting to go to mass. He shouldn't have to go if he's not comfortable.

That chapter rocked out!!!! :dance

I know this chapter is short, but the next chapter is going to be a lot longer, ladies :)

Chapter 175

Catriona had her laptop out, reading the questions the fans submitted. She nodded and wrote to the organizers that she would answer the questions.

She minimized the window and opened a new one, quickly checking her email. She was relieved that there weren't any messages from Andrew, deleting the spam she'd been sent.

On a whim, she went to the band's website and checked it out. "Nothing new here", she whispered, seeing there was no news. Catriona headed towards the bio section and clicked on her own bio, a smile forming on her lips.

"What's up, Kitty", asked Dave.

"I got the questions from Roadrunner, I'm going to submit the answer, and I was just checking the website", she replied.

"I love that picture of you, Kitty. You look so beautiful", he whispered. On the picture on her bio page, Catriona wore a midnight-blue velvet gown, her hair pulled back into a bun at the back of her neck. The hairstyle accentuated her lovely face with his high cheekbones, full red lips and sparkling hazel eyes. The dress flattered her hourglass figure, revealing her slim waist, generous bosom and rounded hips, the skirt wide and almost reaching the floor. At her ears and around her neck shone brilliant diamond and sapphire jewelry, the dark blue stones a contrast to her pale, creamy skin.

"Thank you, Dave. Now let me answer the questions", she said, as he leaned down and kissed her cheek.

Dave is a sweetie!!! :)

It's funny, one of my friends who I work with in music shares Kitty's birthday. She's crazy disorganized though, and lazy and I don't think that most Virgo's are, so she's an exception.

This reminds me that I'm taking updated publicity photos October 1. :( :( :( :( :( I hate doing that kind of shit. It takes all fucking day. I'd rather be in reading your stories Vanessa.

Chapter 176

Q&A with Catriona Burton

We are here with the talented and lovely Catriona Burton of Beren's Dream. She has agreed to answer your questions, let's start.

1. Miss Burton, I've been a Nightwish fan for years, and I've recently discovered your music. Are you a Nightwish fan? Derek from London, UK

Yeah, I love Nightwish, I've been a fan since high school. My favorites are Angels Fall First and Century Child, the new album is awesome too.

2. I hope this isn't a dumb question, but are you really over six feet tall? Ann from Seattle, Washington

Yes Ann, I really am over six feet tall, six one to be exact, or 182 centimeters in metric. My parents were both six-footers and redheaded, how could I turn out any way else?

3. I can't help but notice all the references to the Silmarillion in your lyrics? Is that your favorite Tolkien book? Hannah from Rotterdam, the Netherlands.

I'm a Tolkien freak period, but the Silmarillion is my favorite of all his books. My favorite part is the story of Luthien and Beren, and I also like the story of Turin Turambar, those sorts of messed up stories appeal to me.

4. Where do you plan to go on the next record, are you going to stick to your current sound, or are you going to try something else? Falyssa from Fort Worth, Texas.

Good question, Falyssa. While we recorded our album, I was reading more about Greek myth and Celtic stories, I don't want to keep doing songs about Luthien and Beren forever. There's one song about Orpheus and Eurydice, it's really long. But we're also experimenting with shorter songs, and we even had a string section on some of the songs. One day, I want to do an album with a symphony, not in a tacky way, but like what Dimmu Borgir did with Death Cult Armageddon, that was so beautiful, but heavy.

5. Who are your favorite LoTR characters? Linda from Edinburgh, Scotland.

Interesting question. Of the male characters, I like King Theoden best, he comes out of his fog and and become the king he should be, getting rid of that weasel Wormtongue in the process. As for the female characters, I'd have to choose Eowyn, she's beautiful and feminine, but a warrior too. Arwen's cool, but I'm afraid she doesn't get to kick much ass.

6. Has there been any comparisons made between your band and Metallica, seeing that you are Cliff Burton's daughter? Sven from Stockholm, Sweden.

No, because Beren's Dream and Metallica are totally different bands. We're both metal, but our sounds are totally different.

7. Dzien dobry, Pani Burton. As a Pole, I would like to know how good is your Polish? Magda from Warsaw, Poland.

Bardzo dobry, ale to czy lepszy. My mother is half-Polish and fluent, my brother less so. But his girlfriend is from Poland, he's learning to pass muster from her dad.

8. What is Dave Mustaine really like? As a droogie, I'd really like to know from someone who's been around him. Jukka from Oulu, Finland.

Dave is a great guy, he's not an asshole like people think he is. In fact, he treated all the bands really good, he and Megadeth are great musicians and great guys.

9. I have two questions, if you don't mind. Do you do any vocal exercises daily to strengthen or better your voice, and do you warm up before shows. And how do you carry around so many beautiful outfits on tour, and where do you put them all? Ashley from Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

No, I don't mind, Ashley. While I'm preparing for the show, I sing scales, you know, Do Re Mi and so forth. After a few rounds of that, I sing real songs, my favorites are anything from La Traviata or Madame Butterfly. I also drink a lot of tea with honey and lemon, one cup before the show, and several cups afterwards. The first cup has caffeine but the others are decaf, otherwise I can't sleep.

As for the dresses, I have an old-fashioned steamer trunk I bought on Ebay. I wrap my dresses in tissue paper with dried flowers and close it, each dress is individually wrapped. If we have a day off in between shows, I get them dry cleaned. I do it myself because it's pretentious to have some do it for me, I'm not a diva.

10. Would you ever pose for Playboy? You are a goddess. Hans from Hamburg, Germany.

Danke Schon, Hans. No, I won't pose for Playboy, I'd feel really uncomfortable doing so, plus my uncles wouldn't like it and my mother is very Catholic, she'd hate it.

11. What would you do if you got to meet Tarja Turunen? Mari from Helsinki, Finland.

I'd probably get on my knees and bow, chanting "We're not worthy" like Wayne and Garth. Tarja is a goddess, I'd love to meet her, I'll try to keep my head.

12. I know you're a big Maiden fan, what are your favorite Iron Maiden songs? Lewis from Bristol, UK.

That's a tough one. I'd have to go with The Trooper, Aces High, Wicker Man and Infinite Dreams, but they have so many good songs it's crazy.

13. I absolutely adore your sense of style, Miss Burton. Do you design your own clothes, or do you have a tailor? Maria from Madrid, Spain.

I go to a tailor in Sausalito, she specializes in clothes for tall women. I've always like Victorian, Edwardian clothes, and I love velvet. I know that's what I wanted to wear onstage, I love the elegant vibe it has. I'd never go onstage in a bikini, like certain pop singers who shall go nameless.

14. Before you became part of the band, what were your career plans? Do you think that at some point in your life you will still pursue a career other than being a musician or do you want to focus your life on music? And you grew up surrounded by famous musicians. Do you think if you hadn't been part of that environment, you would have pursued music? Maisy from Marco Island, Florida

Good questions, Maisy. Before I was in the band, I was working at a Hot Topic at the mall with my cousin. I had a degree in child care and was planning to become a licensed day care worker. Unfortunately, I couldn't find an opening so I took the job as a stopgap. As for my plans, my boyfriend and I have discussed having a family, he has two children from a previous relationship and they are great kids. I do know that if I had kids, I wouldn't want to be on the road all the time, I'd want my kids to know their mother.

As far as my family goes, I probably wouldn't have pursued music. My mother is a big old school metal fan, but not particularly musical, and my brother is more interested in the technical aspect of music, rather than the musical part. I do remember feeling self-conscious about my voice, in high school music class, I tried out for chorus but the other girls said I sang weird, because I'm a soprano. These girls listened to Beyonce and Ashanti, Britney and all that pop crap, they weren't used to hearing a soprano. Until I joined the band, I didn't think I sang that great because of those stupid girls.

15. Miss Burton, are you single, and if you are, will you marry me? Rober from St. Louis, Missouri.

No, but thanks for the offer. I am in a relationship with a wonderful guy.

16. Who drinks the most on Gigantour? Mark from Chicago, Illinois.

Children of Bodom, but Lamb of God aren't far behind. The guys in our band like to drink, but I only have an occasional glass of wine.

That was totally badass Vanessa!!!! :) The Q and A was very fun to read. I thought that it was very interesting. I'm glad that she chose music as a career path- when she said that if she hadn't grown up in a musical enviroment she wouldn't have chosen it I was like " that would have been a waste of great talent." :)

That was so much fun to read Vanessa, though I must admit I'm more of a diva than Kitty because I don't dry clean my own dresses. :wink Too lazy. :)

Maiden rocks!!! :)

Wow... So much happened, that's what I hate about catching up, you'd like to mention everything you liked but it's just too much :horns2
Awesome chapters!
It's great Kitty got along with Justis and Electra, I loved the part Electra asked for green tea, kids don't like drinks like that usually, she's badass, and I love Catriona and Dave together, they're awesome couple, they understand each other so greatly despite the age difference :D Pam's a bitch :ugh: And Justis is so sweet being so shy around Teresa (I love this name, it's my third name and my Mom's name too :nanner: ). Tourist at Red Lobster cracked me  Poor Dave and Kitty
And Q&A bit rocked totally! :horns2

LOVED the chapter. It really gave me more insight into Catriona. I loved having my question answered- I think it's really incredible I got to "interact" with one of my favorite fictional characters!!

I wish all famous people would take interviews as seriously and answer as thoughtfully as Kitty did.

Awesome!!

Thanks girls :) That chapter required quite a bit of method acting, I tried to see how if I were Kitty, how would I answer some of the questions. Anyway, here's another chapter.

Chapter 177

"Oh, this is wonderful! I can't believe it!", she squealed.

"Congratulations, Kitty. You are going to be on the cover of Revolver", said Dave proudly.

She had just gotten an email from the band's management saying that Revolver had contacted them and asked if she were going to participate in their Sexiest Women in Metal issue. Along with her, the issue was going to feature Tarja Turunen, Cristina Scabbia of Lacuna Coil and Angela Gossow of Arch Enemy.

"This is awesome, I'm going to meet Tarja, she's my idol. And Angela and Cristina are such great singers. What's she like?", she asked.

"Cristina's a great girl. Kitty, you're really going to like her. Don't worry, our relationship is purely professional, she's dating one of the guys from Slipknot. Eh, there's no accounting for taste", he shrugged.

Catriona's eyes danced with merriment, as she stifled a giggle. "What's so funny?", he chuckled.

"I was wondering if he wears the mask when they have sex", she giggled.

"Bad girl. I met the dude, nice kid, without the mask he looks normal. It must be interesting around the holidays at their place", he chuckled.

Dave's expression grew serious. "In honor of being on the cover of Revolver, let me take you out for dinner", he said.

"What about the kids, Dave?", she asked.

He raised an eyebrow, pleased she was concerned about the children. "It was Justis' idea, he thought we do something together", he replied.

"Oh, that was sweet of him. Very well then, I will accompany you tonight, Mr. Mustaine", she said coyly, wrapping her arms around his neck.

Dave gave her a quick kiss on the lips, his arms going around her waist. They exchanged light, chaste kisses and giggled like teenagers. "Ew, get a room guys", said Justis, making a face.

Catriona blushed as Dave pretended to glare at his son. "Very funny, Justis. You're going to be the same way with Teresa", he retorted, as Justis turned bright red.

"Yes Daddy, we ought to get a room. Sorry about that, Justis. Thanks for the suggestion", she said.

"Hey, it's nothing. I'm going to be fine, I'm used to babysitting Electra", he said reassuringly.

"Okay, but remember, don't answer the door to anyone. And don't play your music too loud", he chided.

"I know, Dad. You guys go and have a good time", he said, a shadow crossing his face.

Justis watched as his father led her to their room. He had wanted to like her anyway to spite his mother, but he found that he liked her anyway. Yes, she was younger than his father, but she wasn't some gold digging bimbo. Catriona was intelligent, gracious, and kid, and she had her own successful band. He couldn't recall seeing his father so happy, ever since he was a kid.

To Justis, it seemed as though his parents started drifting apart after Electra was born. He'd noticed how cool Pam was towards both him and his father, how indifferent she'd been towards Electra.

Then one night, he'd woken up after hearing his parents fighting. Dave had accused her of neglecting their daughter, Pam screaming that she hadn't wanted another child. Justis could never forget the look on his father's face, as he tried to hold back tears.

Damn, I can't believe Mom said that. I gotta look out for Electra, I don't trust Mom or Bernie around her. And I like Kitty, she makes Dad so happy, he thought, smiling when he heard her giggled behind the closed door.
