Sorry I couldn't update yesterday, but the cable and the internet connection didn't work, there was a lot of snow, which piled up on top of the snow we already have. It's already worse than last year, and it's only January. Ashley, I hope your gig was okay and you feel better Chapter 278 Catriona's eyes slowly fluttered open, the room coming into focus. I think this is the hotel, I barely remember, she mused. A smile formed on her face when she felt Dave's body next to hers. He was still fast asleep, his red hair tousled around his face. With his flushed cheeks and soft smile and his hair loose, he looked almost boyish. She snuggled against him, smiling she felt he had no pajama top, just the bottoms. All that lay between them was her thin cream satin slip. Dave was still asleep, but vaguely conscious. He felt slim, feminine arms around his waist, the tips of hard nipples against his chest. His eyes opened and he smiled when he saw Catriona snuggling against his body, the tips of her breasts hard against his chest. "Good morning, frisky aren't we, Miss Kitty?", he chided. "Of course, you like it this way, Dave. Would you prefer a little mousy girl, then?", she teased. "Of course not, Kitty. I have the most beautiful, intelligent, sexy girlfriend in the world", he said gallantly as she blushed. "You're cute when you blush, Kitty. Let's take a shower and meet the others downstairs for breakfast. We're playing at the Hakametsa Arena, we have a Pantera tribute band opening, Cemetery Gates", he said. "Pantera rule. Shane and I saw them on the last tour they did. I was so mad at that asshole who shot Dimebag, I lit a candle for Dime at Sunday Mass", she whispered. Dave took her into his arms and kissed the top of her head. "That was very sweet of you, Kitty. We toured with Pantera back in the early nineties, awesome band. Phil looked so damn intimidating, he looked like someone who eats glass for breakfast. And Dimebag was a cool son of a gun, who could shred like a motherfucker. Let's not dwell on that, Kitty. Soundcheck's at five, they go on at seven and then us. If you ever have an opening band, let them have a soundcheck and anything they want, they play better. We toured with bands back in the day that treated us like shit. no soundcheck, no dressing room, not even any food or beer. That sucked, we've never treated our opening bands like shit", he said. "Well said, Dave. Other than that first tour with Amon Amarth, we've never opened for anyone. They treated us good, we had a soundcheck, everything", she said. "Good to know. And I hope you weren't gallivanting with any Swedish Vikings", he teased. "Very funny, Dave. They were gentlemen, they had their girlfriends with them. Those girls were gorgeous, they were all blond like models. Like I would want a Swedish Viking, I got you", she replied, embracing him. "Good to know, Miss Kitty. Now let's take a shower before the kids get worried and cal the American embassy", he joked, leading her to the bathroom. |

I loved the mention of Dimebag in this chapter. I was soooo upset when he died. RIP Dimebag. Kitty lighting a candle for Dime was a nice gesture. I thought that you didn't update because your bro had taken over the computer again to play Warcraft. The gig actually went fantastic. The only part of me that seemed real cold were my hands and fingers, but I still played just fine. The people even gave me a tip which fully rocked out. I was extremely sick yesterday but last night I crashed out with some Nyquil, and I feel 100 times better today. I'm even going to teach because I feel pretty good actually. I feel good enough to go out drinking tonight, but I won't. Thank you for asking about me though. I don't get sick very often. I'm glad that I'm beating this cold.

This is the amusement park where they go: Sarkanniemi Chapter 279 After breakfast, they all went to the Sarkanniemi amusement park on the outskirts of the city. It was clearly the biggest attraction in the city, a park-like area with an indoor aquarium, a planetarium, and a tall observation tower with a revolving restaurant at the summit. The rides of the amusement park were either hidden under tarps or in a shed being repaired, the rides being out of commission after the summer season. "There's not really a lot to do here, it's this or the Moomin museum", shrugged Dave, as Justis made a face. "I wish I could've brought the wife and kids, they would've liked this. But Angie doesn't like being on tour, she wants Zoe in school", said James. "That sucks. I remember coming here on the Load tour, Uncle Kirk took me and Shane here. It was during the summer so all the rides were open. They're okay, but not as badass as Disney or Great Adventure", said Catriona. The teenage boy sitting behind the ticket counter did a double take when he saw the group. "Are you Megadeth?", he asked, his blue eyes wide with shock. "Hello, it's me again. Yeah, I didn't think we'd see any fans here. Seven adult tickets and one kids ticket", said Dave. The boy snapped to attention and typed something into a computer. "That will be forty Euros", he said, the excitement still in his voice. Dave handed him the money and took the tickets. "I'm going to be at the show tonight, I can't wait", he said eagerly. "I can't wait either, my fellow droog", chuckled Dave, leading them inside the complex The buildings were set on several acres of parkland, the buildings adjacent to each other. They were all in a modernistic style in blue chrome and concrete, looking like something out of the Jetsons. The area was crowded with school groups and groups from day care centers, along with some old people from a nearby senior center. Everyone else gave them funny looks, seeing four long-haired men, one of whom held hands with a younger auburn-haired woman, two teenagers and a little blond girl. "Yeah, look at all the old people and kids, we really blend it", said Chris sotto voce, as everyone laughed. Electra looked at the directory and frowned. "What does this mean?", she asked, pointing to the display. Catriona took out her pocket Finnish dictionary and looked up the words. "Okay, I think I got it. The aquarium is on the right and the planetarium is further down, and the viewing tower is further than that. I think that's it", she mused aloud. "Cool. Uh Dad, me and Teresa want to go to the planetarium", said Justis. "Go ahead, Justis. Just don't get caught doing something by security", he teased, as they blushed. Justis took her hand and led her inside the weirdly-shaped concrete building. "Fish are all right, but I like outer space better, I wonder if they got anything on black holes", he said. The planetarium had a display of moon rock and a replica of planet Earth in the foyer. It was huge, bright blue and green contrasting with the dun-colored browns and yellows of the soil and the wispy white clouds. Nearby was the IMAX theater, which was free. "Oh, these are from the moon, Teresa. I don't wanna sound like a dork, but I think there's something on the moon. I read a book about extraterrestrials, it said that there's a possibility that there's something on the moon. Astronomers have heard radio frequencies from the moon, like there's another spacecraft there, that would so rad", he said excitedly. "Justis, are you sure? There is no air or water on the moon, or gravity. How could an alien land?", she asked. "Maybe these aliens don't need air or water because their planet doesn't have any", he said thoughtfully. "It could be. I want to see the movie", she said. "Anything for you, Teresita", he said gallantly, as he led her to the theater. The doors were open and and it was mostly full, a huge room with a dark gray carpet on the floor and people sitting down or standing. "Lucky I'm tall, otherwise I can't see anything", he said. They found an empty spot near the back. The screen was gigantic, bigger than a theater screen. It was gray at the moment, the house lights still on as the people chattered. Just then, the doors closed and the light dimmed. The people stopped chattering and the room became silent, everyone looking straight at the screen. It went black and there was a crackling sound as the IMAX logo flashed on the screen. The movie was in Finnish, about all the planets and the possibility of extraterrestrial life. The sound boomed from the invisible speakers mounted on the walls, each thrust of a rocket engine or liftoff exceptionally loud. When the camera showed the blackness of outer space, however, it was eerily quiet, not a sound in the room. Justis could feel Teresa put her arms around his waist, her dark head resting on his shoulder. He felt a loose dark curl tickle his cheek, a flush forming on his face. Justis was conscious of her body against his, her hair tickling his cheek. The movie ended and the lights went back on. Justis still had a blush on his cheeks, as Teresa smiled knowingly. "Te gusta, Justis? Verdad", she giggled. |

Chapter 280 Dave and Catriona watched as the opening band, Cemetery Gates, performed their sound check. The band was a four-piece, four large, burly Finns with long hair and tattoos with the menacing aura of a biker gang. The lead singer even sounded like Phil Anselmo, with his baritone growl and barely concealed air of menace. "You guys are awesome, almost as good as Pantera themselves", said Dave, once they finished the sound check. "Ja, thank you, Mr. Mustaine", said the singer. He was massive, over six feet tall with two hundred pounds of muscle, his arms covered with tattoos of snakes that resembled something from a Viking headstone. "You're welcome. I've played with Pantera and hung out with them, believe me, you sound almost as good", he chuckled. "Did you ever drink the Blacktooth Grin?", asked the guitarist. He resembled a Finnish version of Dimebag with his long blond hair and beard, his muscular arms covered in tattoos. "Once, never again, that's a He-Man drink, but what do you expect from good ol' boys from Texas?", joked Dave, as everyone laughed. "Hey, are you Catriona Burton of Beren's Dream? My girlfriend's a big fan", said the singer. "Yeah, tell your girlfriend I said hi. Pantera rule, my brother and I saw them on the last tour. My favorite album of theirs is Vulgar Display of Power", she replied, giving the metal salute. "She has awesome taste, that's why I love this girl", teased Dave, putting an arm around her waist and and kissing her cheek. "Miss Burton, would you mind singing Cemetery Gates with us? I've always thought it would sound good with a girl singing", said the singer. "That's my favorite Pantera song, badass", she said. "Can't wait to hear it, Miss Burton", said the guitarist. The arena was half-full when Cemetery Gates were onstage. The audience cheered, but it was muted, wanting to see what sort of band they were. Without a word, they launched into Cowboys from Hell. The audience came to attention, their ears perking up when they heard the familiar Pantera song. The singer had Phil's anger and intensity, stalking the stage with the microphone and looking as though he was a lion devouring a carcass: Under the lights where we stand tall Nobody touches us at all Showdown, shootout, spread fear within, without We're gonna take what's ours to have Spread the word throughout the land They say the bad guys wear black We're tagged and can't turn back You see us comin' And you all together run for cover We're taking over this town Here we come reach for your gun And you better listen well my friend, you see It's been slow down below, Aimed at you we're the cowboys from hell Deed is done again, we've won Ain't talking no tall tales friend 'Cause high noon, your doom Comin' for you we're the cowboys from hell Pillage the village, trash the scene But better not take it out on me 'Cause a ghost town is found Where your city used to be So out of the darkness and into the light Sparks fly everywhere in sight From my double barrel, 12 gauge, Can't lock me in your cage You see us comin' And you all together run for cover We're taking over this town Here we come reach for your gun And you better listen well my friend, you see It's been slow down below, Aimed at you we're the cowboys from hell Deed is done again, we've won Ain't talking no tall tales friend 'Cause high noon, your doom Comin' for you we're the cowboys from hell The crowd really got into it when they played Walk, the pit churning with arms and legs flying about. The singer growled the angry lyrics as the crowd chanted along, the intensity like a pressure cooker: Can't you see I'm easily bothered by persistence One step from lashing out at you... You want in to get under my skin And call yourself a friend I've got more friends like you What do I do? Is there no standard anymore? What it takes, who I am, where I've been Belong You can't be something you're not Be yourself, by yourself Stay away from me A lesson learned in life Known from the dawn of time Respect, walk Run your mouth when I'm not around It's easy to achieve You cry to weak friends that sympathize Can you hear the violins playing you song? Those same friends tell me your every word Are you talking to me? No way punk "All right, motherfuckers! I want you to welcome a special guest, please give it up for Miss Catriona Burton of Beren's Dream", he said. "Go onstage and kick ass, Kitty", said Dave, giving her a quick kiss on the lips. Catriona smiled at him and walked onstage. She wore black jeans and a tight black Pantera shirt, her auburn hair in a loose braid to her waist. The men in the audience managed to keep still while she picked up a microphone, the singer going offstage while the band played Cemetery Gates: Reverend reverend is this some conspiracy? Crucified for no sins An image beneath me Whats within our plans for life It all seems so unreal I'm a man cut in half in this world Left in my misery... The reverend he turned to me Without a tear in his eyes It's nothing new for him to see I didn't ask him why I will remember The love our souls had Sworn to make Now I watch the falling rain All my mind can see Now is your (face) Well I guess You took my youth I gave it all away Like the birth of a New-found joy This love would end in rage And when she died I couldn't cry The pride within my soul You left me incomplete All alone as the Memories now unfold. Believe the word I will unlock my door And pass the Cemetery gates Sometimes when I'm alone I wonder aloud If you're watching over me Some place far abound I must reverse my life I can't live in the past Then set my soul free Belong to me at last Through all those Complex years I thought I was alone I didn't care to look around And make this world my own And when she died I should've cried and spared myself some pain... Left me incomplete All alone as the memories still remain The way we were The chance to save my soul And my concern is now in vain Believe the word I will unlock my door And pass the cemetery gates Surprisingly, her voice with the heavy metal music sounded great. she sang the sad yet defiant lyrics beautifully, her soprano soaring against the the backdrop of the bluesy, heavy music. The pit started up again during the loud chorus, arms and legs flailing about like sticks. "Give it up for Miss Burton", said the guitarist, as she took a bow and the audience cheered. "Wow, that was badass", said Justis with awe. "I second that. Pantera sound good with a chick", joked Shawn. Dave gave her a hug and kissed her cheek. "That was awesome, Kitty. I hope the crowd's like that when we're playing", he chuckled. "I hope so too, Dave", she replied, as they watched the rest of the set. |

Chapter 281 The mood of the crowd was electric as everyone waited to see Megadeth. Their nervous murmurs were like the buzz of insects, the anticipation growing with every passing moment. The video screen flashed a picture of Vic Rattlehead smiling his trademark snarling grin, while above him was the Megadeth logo. The crowd became still when the band came onstage. Dave walked proudly onstage, his expression deadly calm and an amused twinkle in his hazel eyes. He wore tight jeans and a black shirt with the top buttons undone to reveal his upper chest, his gleaming red hair hanging in loose curls past his shoulders. Megadeth launched into Kick the Chair, the aggressive guitar song causing a pit to start immediately. Dave growled the lyrics with his trademark snarl, his fingers flying over the strings of the Angel of Deth, his hair flying around his face. He and Chris traded solos during the middle part, their guitars dueling like lightsabers as the crowd roared it's approval: Dawn breaks evenly today On the truth and the lie All rise, courts in session Were hanging someone high Justice means nothing today Now that the courts are for sale Pick a crime from the menu; pick a sentence and defend you And pay up the down payment called bail The system's for sale Kick the chair, the rope's tight Just like one quick wrench, the tooth is out Friend or foe, I gotta hang em dead Or they'll come back around Kick it! The court's wrong when it keeps tracks Of victories and defeats The press that never rest just waits For somebody's soul they can eat Justice means nothing today Now that the jury's for sale Guilty or not, the verdict's a lie You're going to jail The system has failed Kick the chair, the rope's tight Just like one quick wrench, the tooth is out Friend or foe, ya gotta hang em dead Or they'll come The rest of the set continued like this, the band not letting up one bit. Dave sang and played guitar with the intensity of a man twenty years younger, the pit becoming even more intense when they played Good Mourning/Black Friday, much to the delight of the crowd: Hey, I don't feel so good Something's not right Something's coming over me What the fuck is this? Whoa! Killer, intruder, homicidal man If you see me coming run as fast as you can Blood-thirsty demon who's stalking the street I hack up my victims like pieces of meat Blood-thirsty demon, sinister fiend Bludgeonous slaughter's my evil deed My hammer's a cold piece of blood-lethal steel I grin while you writhe with the pain that I deal Swinging the hammer, I hack through their heads Deviant defilers, you're next to be dead I unleash my hammer with sadistic intent Pounding, surrounding, slamming through your head Yeah! Bodies convulse in agony, and pain I mangle their face till no features remain A blade for the butchering, I cut them to shreds First take out the organs, then cut off the head The remains of flesh now sop under my feet One more bloody massacre, the murder's complete I seek to dismember, a sadist fiend Bloodbath's my way of getting clean I lurk in the alley wait for the kill I have no remorse for the blood that I spill A merciless butcher who lives underground I'm out to destroy and I will cut you down I see you and I'm waiting for Black Friday Turn me loose! Killer, intruder, homicidal man If you see me coming run as fast as you can A blood-thirsty demon who's stalking the street I hack up my victims like pieces of meat Blood-thirsty demon, sinister fiend Bludgeonous slaughter's my evil deed A merciless butcher who lives underground I'm out to destroy you and I will cut you down It's Black Friday, paint the devil on the wall The band took a breather while Dave wiped the sweat off his brow with a handkerchief. "Tervetuloa, Tampere. I'm taking a breather, we're no spring chickens anymore. Anyways, we got two surprises for you guys tonight. Please welcome Miss Catriona Burton", he said. Catriona walked onstage as the crowd cheered. She still wore the Pantera shirt and jeans, but her hair was loose, falling in soft waves to her waist. Dave gave her a smoldering glance out of the corner of his eyes, handing her a microphone. The band played Looking Down the Cross from Killing is My Business, to the surprise and delight of the crowd: Now before they take me And my blessed life Now you'll know why Deth Was summoned here tonight I'll recall my perils They'll kill me in pride No, I can't run away There's no place to hide Though too much to live for I owe enough to die Ask not for salvation My Deth shall mean their lives Hatred and guilt the alter they've built High preists of sin Destiny, fate the wicked ones gate Beckoning you in Down the walkways Through the blood stained town Looking down the cross Bleeding from the crown Led to stay To die besides the thieves Kill the king Of the world to be And now to you, this will come A putrifying pestolence More noxious than the serpents breath Male violently destined More corrupt than the malice of choronzon More disease than the wind Of the moonlight sun Putrification you have caused No need for confession Now you wish you had a gun to stop the demolition Swinging the judgement hammer Man, woman, child no-one is safe The heads of the dead are the banner and this was all you got So don these broken wings Sands of time run out Bells of Hades ring Is this a nightmare To unhallow thy name Smell of brimstone Dancing in the flames No help now As you fulfill his task Chief of evil Has got you by the ass Set free To sit upon the throne Just a dream? Your weeping all alone Looking down the cross (speak no evil) I'm looking down the cross (speak no evil) Surprisingly, her voice combined with his sounded great with the song. Their voices blended wonderfully as they sang the lyrics about Jesus on the cross. The crowd changed along loud enough to raise the roof of the arena. Megadeth then segued into Tout Le Monde, the crowd cheering warmly. The beautiful melodic song washed over the audience like a comforting blanket, the French lyrics like a lover's caress. Catriona's soprano gave the French lyrics an edge, the men in the crowd finding it all the more alluring: Don't remember where I was I realized life was a game The more seriously I took things The harder the rules became I had no idea what it'd cost My life passed before my eyes I found out how little I accomplished All my plans denied So as you read this know my friends I'd love to stay with you all Please smile when you think of me My body's gone that's all À tout le monde, à tout mes amis Je vous aime, je dois partir These are the last words I'll ever speak And they'll set me free If my heart was still alive I know it would surely break And my memories left with you There's nothing more to say Moving on is a simple thing What it leaves behind is hard You know the sleeping feel no more pain And the living all are scarred À tout le monde, à tout mes amis Je vous aime, je dois partir These are the last words I'll ever speak And they'll set me free So as you read this know my friends I'd love to stay with you all Please smile, smile when you think about me My body's gone that's all À tout le monde, à tout mes amis Je vous aime, je dois partir These are the last words I'll ever speak And they'll set me free "Je vous amie, Kitty", Dave whispered, as the song faded away, his eyes glowing with desire as she took a bow, a warm glow on her cheeks. |

Chapter 282 "We're leaving for Oulu tomorrow, so you ought to rest up", said Matt, as they went back to the hotel. "If we want, we can sleep on the bus, that part of Finland is flat and boring", joked Dave. "Oh well, just try to get some sleep", said Matt. "Okay dude. Goodnight, Dad and Kitty. Don't make any noise", teased Justis. "Very funny, Justis. I don't want to hear you and Teresa", he retorted, as both of them blushed deep red. "Dad, what are Justis and Teresa doing?", asked Electra. "You're too young, Electra. You'll know when you get older", said Dave. "I want to be older, no one tells you anything", she grumbled, as she followed Justis and Teresa to their room. "Electra's a curious girl, isn't she? I don't think you should answer her question just yet, Daddy. You don't want to warp her", she teased, as he led her to their room. "Bad Kitty", he chided. "I got a text from Perttu, he's coming to the show tomorrow", she said. "Okay. I can't help but feel just a wee bit jealous of them, Kitty. After all, you guys spent a lot of time together on your tour, and they did get you those sex toys", he teased. Catriona giggled and sat behind him on the bed, gently massaging his shoulders. "Don't be silly, Dave. They're a gay couple, they got each other and they're like brothers. You've got nothing to fear", she chided. "Sorry about that, but I got a jealous streak. I wasn't jealous you were on tour with Andrew, you can't stand druggies and I trust you. I was a bit jealous at first when you went on tour with Apocalyptica, but I cooled it when I found out Perttu and Antero were gay, and Eicca and Paavo were married. I guess it's a function of me being French and redheaded", he chuckled weakly. Catriona snugged against him and wrapped her arms around his waist. "Yeah, you're pretty easygoing for a French, redheaded dude. Why on earth would I cheat on my wonderful, handsome, super-talented, intelligent boyfriend?", she teased. "Thank you, or should I say, kiitos. I definitely want to meet him, a friend of yours is a friend of mine. Their stuff has really grown on me, classical isn't my thing but they're really good. Are we going to talk about Apocalyptica or are we going to do something else, Miss Kitty?", he teased. "Of course, Dave", she giggled, as he leaned over and kissed her lips... |
