Poor Twisted Me
[ * ]
I was bored so I felt like writing and I had this idea in my head for a while.

Let's see where this goes... :)

1996

My boyfriend of five years, Michael, decided to take me out to dinner at one of the fanciest places in downtown San Francisco. Thanks to his new job as a promoter and him receiving his trust fund from his rich grandfather, he was able to afford many of the expensive things in life. He had me get all dolled up for tonight and he even spoiled me with plenty of gifts lately. I knew he had something up his sleeve due to his extreme closeness and pampering.

Michael leaned on the table and grasped my hand, caressing the back of it with his thumb. "Babe, you love me don't you?" He asked carefully in the sweetest tone.

I nodded, nearing closer to tears, "Yes."

"And you trust me don't you?" He asked.

"Of course," I nodded frantically. My heart was racing faster than ever.

Michael intertwined his fingers with mines. "We've been together for a while now and well I think it's time that I tell you this," he let go and reached in his jacket pocket. I knew that this was going to be the beginning of the life I've always imagined. I'm gonna get married and he's going to propose to me. I swear I tried with all my strength to hold back my tears and not make a sound.

Michael turned to face me and held out a shiny golden--"YES!!!" I screamed with tears streaming down my face. I loved him so much; he didn't even have to ask.

"What?" He furrowed his brows and looked at me surprised. "You'll actually do it?" he asked and I nodded. "Wow!" He said and blinked trying to generate my response. Michael leaned back in his chair and sighed. "Whoa," He breathed. "Well here are your keys. Can you come get your stuff
tomorrow?" He asked.

Wait. What did he just say?

"What?" I asked dumbfounded.

"I'm leaving you," He said seriously.

"Oh no," I raised my brows. What? This can't be happening. What the hell? He--He was supposed to ask me to marry him, not ask me to leave him! Words literally could not express how livid I am right now. God give me patients because if you give me strength, I'm going to be obligated to kick Michael's ass all over the goddamn place.

I sat still gazing into Michael's hazel eyes. Those same hazel eyes that won my trust, those same eyes that got me to do impossible things for love--those same cruel hazel eyes that just broke my fragile heart. Oh was he going to pay big time for this shit, even if my life counts on it-- ok I wasn't that
mad.

"Hello?" Michael asked softly waving his hands in my face. "Are you ok? Morgan? Sweetie?" He called.

I slapped his hand. "Don't fucking call me sweetie," I growled through still gritted teeth.

"Are you seriously mad right now?" He chuckled.

I can't believe him. He's such an asshole, "You're such an asshole!" I yelled. "I can't believe you! That you--you'd leave me for God knows what legitimate reason at all! I can't even fathom the immensity of how fucked up it is for you do to this to me!" I screamed clenching my fists. People began to zoom in on us--at me-- and watch the drama that was about to unfold. "You!" I pointed at him and tapped his chest, "You take me out to dinner just to break up with me?!" I yelled. "How fucked up is that? You had me thinking that you were finally gonna pop the question! Do you know how embarrassing this is for me!? You could've at least done this while we were at home, dumbass!" I slapped him and continued to call him names and yell a whole dictionary of obscenities at him out of complete and utter anger, while he stared at me in horror. "If I would've known that you were taking me to an expensive restaurant just to break up with me, I would've made damn sure to order the highest thing on the goddamn menu!" I tossed my glass of red wine on Michael and threw my napkin at him.

Michael frowned and cleaned his face. He shook his head, "Calm the fuck down, Morgan!" He yelled.

Little does he know that I was just getting started, "Who are you leaving me for?" I demanded to know. Hell, it was only right that I found out. He couldn't break up with me for no reason at all.

He chuckled nervously and tried to calm me down, "Morgan, baby please. Can we just do this at home?" he asked scanning the faces of the horrified bystanders.

I shook my head steady, "Fuck no!" I yelled. "If you can break up with me in public then you can tell me the reason too, in public!" I argued. "Now who the hell are you leaving me for!?"

Michael rubbed his hand over his face and shook his head, "God Morgan just calm down and I'll tell you later..." He pleaded looking around at all of the people staring at us in shock. I could visibly see him shrinking in his chair. I got him where I want him now, oh yes I do.

"NO!" I yelled. "I wanna know the truth! I have the right to know!" I yelled pointing at myself while tears streamed down my face.

"JESSICA! OK!" He yelled loud enough for everyone to hear.

That was it, the last straw. Jessica was my friend, hints the word "was" because the bitch was no longer my friend anymore after today. How long have they been going behind my back anyway? I barely liked her and he knew that, but he continued to go against my will and mess with her behind my back.

I let my anger get the best of me and after that I only saw red, "YOU BASTARD!" I yelled. Flying across the table tackling Michael, I began to choke the crap out of him. I slapped him repeatedly and punched him as he curled up into a ball trying to dodge my blows.

"I'm sorry!" He choked trying to pry my hands off of his neck. "Morgan...let...go..." He gasped, but I didn't let go, that is until I felt two large hands trying to pull me off of Michael.

Surprise, a cop.

He pulled me up and slammed my body on the table and began to put handcuffs on my wrists. Motherfucker hit my eye on the edge of the table too and it hurt like fucking hell. Was anybody seeing this? Is this even legal? I am a woman not a Neanderthal!

"Ahhh!" I groaned in agony while Michael was being helped up by some other cops.

"Sir, are you ok?" They asked him sympathetically.

I rolled my eyes and winced as I was being manhandled by some guy five times my size. This was not fair at all. I was the victim, not him! I gave that bastard five years of my life that I'll never get back!

"You're under arrest!" The cop said as he hoisted me off the table and onto the ground.

I rolled my eyes, "You don't say." I replied sarcastically to which he tightened his grip on my arm. I'm sure that's gonna leave a bruise. Can you sue a cop for being too rough? Because if you can, I'm seriously considering it.

My hair was all over the place and I noticed that my nose was dripping blood. Oh great, this is fabulous.

The cop escorted me out of the restaurant and as I neared Michael I muttered, "I hope you and that bitch rot in hell!"

"We'll meet you there babe!" He called out and flipped me off. I turned to see his face. It was bruised up and his dark brown hair was all over his head like mines. I even noticed that I was able to give him a black eye. Way to go Morgan! It even brought out the color of his eyes.

I smirked and mouthed a silent "Fuck you," and did my walk of shame to the police car where I was tossed in the back and sent to the downtown police department. I sat in a cell with other criminals and about three hours later I was released out on bail--a five hundred dollar bail. After that and some paper work I was free to go. As if matters couldn't get any worse, as soon as I stepped out onto the street thunder roared and it began to pour rain like there was no tomorrow.

"Really?" I yelled sarcastically while holding my hands up towards the sky. Even God wasn't on my side right now. Where did I go wrong?

I stood on the corner of the street getting soaked by rain waiting for a cab to come by.

"Taxi! Taxi!" I yelled and waved my hands in the air like an idiot, but he decided to drive past me and a huge puddle of dirty water splashed on me, getting me even more wet. "Fucker!" I shouted and threw one of my two hundred dollar heels at his car.

Ok so now I'm missing a shoe, no longer in a relationship, I'm out of five hundred dollars, and I'm probably homeless because Michael kicked me out--not to mention I'm drenched in rain, all on the day I was so sure that I was going to become an engaged woman. What the hell happened? My life is just washing away, isn't it? I began to cry hysterically while holding my dress as I trotted in the rain down the empty streets of San Francisco.

It took me thirty minutes to reach my friend, Danielle's apartment. I knocked on her door and hoped that she'd answer since I'm positive that it's around two a.m. right now.

Luckily she opened the door and jumped in dismay and shock as she looked at me. "Jesus! Morgan! Are you ok?" She asked concerned.

"Motherfucker broke up with me!" I muttered.

"Oh honey...Come in..." She carefully moved aside as I pushed my way into her home.

Three Months Later

"Are we going out or what?" Danielle asked.

I shrugged and continued to sift through my forever accumulating pile of clothes, "Do you wanna?" I asked.

"Well," She turned around and looked at me with a devilish grin. I knew that look too well, she's up to something alright.

I smirked and tossed a green tube top of hers that I borrowed in her direction, "Spit it out!" I demanded. "What's the game plan for tonight?" I asked.

Danielle laid back on my bed and sighed, "We should go to Big Bob's for a drink and maybe...you know..." She trailed off.

I furrowed my brows, "No I don't know."

She popped up and stared at me attentively. Ok, she was really starting to weird me out.

"What?" I asked. "I have no idea where you're headed with this," I said defensively. If it were up to me, I'd think that we were just going to hang out. The hell is she thinking?

"Meet some guys! Hello!" She yelled loudly to which I placed my hands over my ears.

Danielle laughed and shook her head at me, "Are you up for meeting some guys?" She asked.

I shrugged, "I dunno." It's been almost a lifetime since I've actually been in a committed relationship and to say the most, I hated it.

"Argh!" She groaned. Danielle always tried to get me to find a boyfriend, but ever since Michael broke up with me, things haven't been the same.

"I'm not ready for a relationship," I muttered as I continued to fold my clothes.

She plopped down and snatched the shirt I was just about to put up and stared at me with a smug face, "I can't believe you!" she complained. "Michael was an asshole! He took you out to dinner just to break up with you and had you thinking otherwise." She sighed and shook my shoulders, "Morgan, get a hold of yourself. It's about time you found someone to respect and love you for who you are and share your life with."

I rolled my eyes, "Oh puh-lease!" I complained. I was only twenty five years old, I have my whole life ahead of me and I planned on living it the way I wanted. I didn't want to deal with guys for a while because that wasn't on my agenda at the moment.

"Danielle I don't want a boyfriend. I want a piece of mind," I said.

She slumped her shoulders down in an act of defeat and I raised my brows at her, "Well could we at least still go out tonight?' She asked.

Well a night out does sound pleasing and it's been a while since I enjoyed my new found freedom. I nodded, "Yeah."

"Yay!" Danielle hopped up and began to bounce around like a little kid causing me to giggle a bit.

If you keep that up we won't be going anywhere!" I laughed.

She immediately stopped and stuck out her tongue at me, "I'm gonna get ready," She sighed and turned back to look at me, "You may wanna change. I'm sure sweats aren't suitable for night clubs," She said.

I looked down at my attire and furrowed my brows.

While Danielle went to take a shower, I decided to change my clothes to something more suitable. I raided my closet and found a plain tight black t-shirt and a pair of dark denim skinny jeans to wear.

"This should do the trick," I mumbled.

Just as I was about to gather my stuff, Danielle came out of the bathroom with a cloud of hot steam following right behind.

"You sure smell good," I said.

"Yeah, I know," She replied. "I used your peach fuzz shower gel. Isn't it amazing?" She teased.

I rolled my eyes, "There better be some more left for me or I'm staying my ass at home and you can go out on your own."

She gave me a surprised look and laughed, "Whatever!" She tossed her towel at me and I screamed silently and shielded my eyes.

"You're naked!" I giggled.

She started to do a little sexy dance and smiled, "What about it?" She asked.

I made a disgusted face and shook my head, "That's the last thing I wanted to see," I giggled. "I cannot un-see your naked body now!"

"Pshh, whatever!" She said. "Once you see one, you've seen them all," She laughed. Danielle was weird as far as I knew. I shook my head and
grabbed my things, heading into the bathroom.

I took a quick shower and scrubbed my body and my hair, ridding myself of all the sweat and dirt I mounted up today. Luckily I still had some body wash left and I used it like there was no tomorrow. The refreshing peach scent filled that bathroom with an overwhelming sweet aroma. After I figured that I took enough heat, I decided to get out and put my clothes on. I straightened my hair and decided to leave it flowing down my shoulders with a single part down the middle. Not really a big fan of makeup, but I knew that Danielle would continuously beg me to put some on if I didn't--so I did. I decided on a simple Smokey eye, lots of mascara, and a peachy pink lip gloss to finish the look.

I smiled looking at myself in the mirror, "Let's get this over with." The darkness of the eye shadow contrasting with my caramel skin and dark hair really made my light brown eyes pop instantly. I sprayed myself with a couple of drops of my favorite perfume and headed out the bathroom.

Danielle was seated on the bed wearing a yellow halter top, that showed a lot of cleavage, and a pair of cute denim flares. She was fidgeting, trying to put on her wedge heels.

"Sexy Lady!" I yelled scaring her.

She placed her manicured hands on her bobbing chest and sighed, "Oh my God, you scared me!" She breathed. However the anger and fright in her voice dissipated as soon as she grasped a good look at me. That same devilish grin crept across her face, "I should be saying that same thing to you," She said.

I smiled coyly, "I know." I laughed and she swatted my arm. "No seriously thanks," I said.

She finished strapping her heels and I ran to grab my wallet, purse, and my black flat bottomed boots that came up to my shin and put those on. I slipped on my gold necklace and gold Rolex that Michael bought a while ago. Danielle locked up her house and we filed inside her car, ready to show everyone what we're made of-- No actually, I'm just ready to get this over with and come back home so I can sleep peacefully in my own bed. Then again I could only wonder what did tonight have in store for me.

She cranked up the car and her favorite band filled the speakers-- Metallica of course-- and we drove off into the night life and lively streets of San Francisco.

Once at Big Bob's I'd be lying if I said that it wasn't packed. There were so many people here that it was crazy.

"If I would've known it was so crowded I would've stayed at home," I complained.

Danielle glared at me out the corner of her eyes and said, "Face it, we're staying here. I didn't get dressed up for nothing."

I rolled my eyes at her and began to scan my surroundings. The bar was filled with people all over. Smoke filled the air and the heavy scent of booze followed me. Danielle and I pushed our way to the bar and she ordered us some drinks, "Danny I need two Heinekens please, for me and Morgan here!" She shouted due to the loud music pouring through the speakers. I wasn't really a clubbing type of person, but anything to get Danielle off my back. There was just too much going on all at once for me to handle.

Danny handed us our beers and I furrowed my brows as I took a sip, "Why are there so many people here?" I asked.

Danny coughed, "Because Metallica is here!" He shouted.

Danielle's face froze. I raised my brows and looked in her direction. I knew very well that she was absolutely completely nuts over Metallica the best heavy metal band in the world according to her. I never really got the memo, but to me they weren't anything special just a bunch of angry guys who made a living off of partying and alcoholism.

Prepare for crap load of screaming in One...

"Oh my..." She breathed.

Two.

"God..." She squealed.

Three.

"AHHHHHHH!" She screamed loudly. Danielle swung around and raised her brows at Danny. "Danny are you serious?" She shouted.

Danny nodded, "Yeah, they're over there in the VIP area. They had a gig here thirty minutes ago. You just missed it, it was pretty wild."

Danielle smiled and looked directly at the table where the guys were seated. She fluffed her blonde hair, adjusted her top, and put on some lip balm readying herself to finally meet her favorite band. She turned to me and smiled deviously, "Morgan get ready to meet my soul mate, Lars Ulrich..." She growled and grabbed my wrist. She began to speed walk up to the enclosed area with me trailing behind.

"Oopss! Sorry! My bad!" I muttered to everyone I continuously bumped into until we reached the crew.

"Hi! I'm Danielle and I'm your biggest fan!" She shouted and smiled innocently afterward.

The guys looked at her and Lars' green eyes flew to her chest lustfully and back to her face in astonishment.

He held his danish hand out, "Lars, Lars Ulrich," He replied with a keen smile present on his face.

At least somebody likes it

Here's more:

"Hi, I'm Danielle," She said. Her voice was rather calm--strange. She shook Lars' hand and the others followed after. I'd be lying if I said Lars couldn't keep his own eyes off of my friend. But I'm sure she was loving all the attention. Just imagine if she was able to met him five years ago, I'd probably wouldn't see her for a week.

After she greeted everyone, she turned the attention to little ole me. "Oh yeah, and this is my friend Morgan." She pushed me in front of her and I smiled awkwardly. Honestly they really weren't the best looking bunch of guys but I tell you, they've come a long way from how they used to look.

"Hi," I said pretty much bluntly and rather nonchalantly. Their faces looked a little displeased so I thought, maybe I should try and not be a bitch tonight. I greeted all of the guys and kinda shocked my own self. Kirk was probably the best looking and most attractive of the bunch. Jason was ok to me-- let's just say he looked wayyy better with short hair. Lars was quiet good looking, but he was short. Maybe it's just me but I didn't think any guy should be shorter than six feet tall.

"So, " Lars clapped. "It's really nice to meet you ladies!" Destiny nearly fainted from joy that was clearly presented on her face. Lars seemed a little inebriated to say the least. "Can I interest you ladies in any drinks?" He asked.

I shook my head, "Nah, I'm just gonna sit this one out for now." Destiny shot me a dark glare. I returned the glare and smiled at Lars, "Someone's gotta drive home."

Lars nodded, "You?" He turned to Destiny who giggles and replied, "Of course!" Ugh, she was worse than I thought.

I took a seat next to James because let's face it-- no other was available. I kept my attention on the dance floor wishing for something to happen so I could leave out of here. I noticed that he kept looking over in my direction a couple of times, but I didn't pay him any mind. If he wanted to talk to me, he'd say something.

He coughed and turned to face me, "Hi, I'm James." No shit Sherlock.

I turned to look at him for the first time in my life. James was far from my type of guy. I like clean cut business types and he was dirty, manly, and looked like an animal. As bad as Danielle wanted to bang Lars, I wanted to bathe James and give him a makeover that he desperately needed. Aside from his flaws, he had the most gorgeous blue eyes that I ever laid eyes on which surprised me. He didn;t look like an angry lion anymore, he looked like-- well like a red neck country boy?

I smiled awkwardly--again, "Hi, I'm Morgan. Morgan Bordeaux." I shook his calloused yet soft hand.

"Are you guys' fans?" He asked regarding Danielle and I.

This is though, I thought. I really didn't want to break it to him that I never really was a big fan or even vowed to indulge into their franchise. I really didn't want to lie, but since honesty was the key, I had no problem being as brutally honest as possible.

I waved my hand in the air, "Nah, not really."

James shot me a stern look and raised his brow causing me to apologize almost instantly, "No, no. I--I mean she's a fan but me," I chuckled nervously. "I'm not really into heavy metal," I staggered over my words like a complete idiot.

His face softened up as he smiled and began to chuckle, "It's ok I was just kidding. It's alright if you're not a fan," He said. "We're all different."

He was so right, "Yes, yes we are." I muttered and took another sip of beer.

The dreaded awkward silence came across us in a matter of seconds. I was socially awkward to say the least. I had no idea what to talk about being that James and I were two totally different people.

(James' POV)

Well two chicks came flocking to our table at short notice. One blonde and a brunette. They were both hot, but I guess I kinda leaned more on the brunette, Morgan. She seemed more reserved unlike her friend, Danielle-- who act like all the girls that came to our concerts. Morgan was quiet. Something told me that she was gonna be a whole other ball game compared to other women. She captivated my attention as soon as her friend threw her in front of us. Long, tan, and beautiful, just the way I liked them.

"Are you from around here?" I asked. It was completely obvious she wasn't from California. She had a country swing to her accent-- it was far from Californian.

She glanced at me, "No. I'm from Louisiana, Baton Rouge." She kept her eyes on the dance floor and asked, "I'm guessing you can tell by my accent?"

I looked at her and nodded. Just then I remembered Pepper was from Louisiana, "I have a friend from Louisiana."

"Really?" She asked raising her brows.

"Yeah, his name is Pepper. Maybe you've heard of him? He's in a band, COC?"

She shook her head, "Nope. Never heard of 'em." Oh yeah, I forgot she wasn't into heavy metal music.

"What do you do for a living?" I asked since it was pretty obvious what I do.

She sat back in her chair, "Oh the age old question that for sure would always send the guys running off." She sighed and confessed, "Believe it or not, I'm a pathologists' assistant."

My eyes budged out, "You're kidding?"

"Nah," She said. "I just developed some sort of weird fascination with death and the afterlife after my mom died." She cut her eyes to me, "Most people find it revolting that I'm actually able to do my job and they always wonder or think I'm this weird crazy psychotic person deep down inside, but I'm not. I'm just curious..." I found that strange. Just like myself, her mom died and she began to wonder about death. It reminded me back when I wrote Fade to Black, I always wondered what death was like.

"How do you do it?" I asked in disbelief.

"Well, " She leaned back in her chair, "I make sure to get wasted before I go to work and then plum a smoke in between breaks."

I narrowed my eyes at her, "What?"

"I'm kidding!" She laughed and for the first time I noticed her deep dimples. They made her look even more astonishing. "I just have a high tolerance for things of that matter I guess," She shrugged innocently enough.

I laughed and nodded at her. She was so charming and very charismatic and I'll admit-- I like that a lot about her, "You're really funny." I told her.

She smiled and nodded, "I know right? I don't get that often. I always try to tell jokes to my patients but they're a dead crowd," She joked.

I laughed, "Oh becasue they're dead!" I know, I know. That was lame, but cute.

Then that steady thought kept kicking my ass. Was she single? Is she seeing anyone? I sighed and hammered on the idea of asking her about her relationship status. I'm probably not her type anyway. She seems more like the conservative type. But it's better to ask instead of wondering what could've been. I sighed, "How come you don't have a boyfriend?" I asked.

She nearly choked on her drink and furrowed her brows at me, "How do you know?" She asked defensively.

I shrugged.

Shit, don't tell me I pissed her off. Fuck! Dammnit James!

I grinned, "Lucky guess?"

She smiled and shook her head, "Uh, I don't know," She shrugged. A smile crept upon her face and she said, "I think it's probably because I was born with a penis and it's so large that it's often intimidating to some guys." She smiled and my mouth dropped.

I paused for a long time.

What the fuck? A penis? Like a man dick? No fucking way!

I looked from side to side and crashed back against the chair, "What?" I asked cracking a slight smile, almost dumb founded.

She snorted and burst into a fit of laugher, "Oh no!" She laughed, "I'm joking. I was never born with a penis. Are you kidding," She laughed and playfully punched my arm. After a few seconds she got serious again. "I did have a boyfriend for like five years, but he left me a while ago for my friend," She muttered the last bit angrily.

"Really?" I asked letting my curiosity take over for a moment. I knew it was none of my business, but I was wondering why someone, if anyone, would leave her. I've only known her for not even an hour and she already stole my heart.

She smiled absently and let her gaze cast down on the table. I waited patiently for her to speak and explain to me.

"He took me out to dinner and pretended as if he were gonna do something more pleasing," She started, "But turns out the ring I thought he had in his hand was my key to our apartment..." She smiled and shrugged as if it were no big deal at all. Even if it wasn't to her, I felt as if it became my own burden now.

"That sucks really fucking bad." I said sympathetically.

She smiled and chuckled, "I mean it's no big deal, at least not now," She leaned on her elbows and looked out at the dance floor. I stole a quick glance at her chest--her breast were standing out perfectly through her t-shirt--but I figured that I should try to maintain at least some respect for her, but I'm sure I failed miserably because I just could not stop staring.

"I just accept it for what it is because if we were meant to be, he wouldn't have broken up with me. I can't get all emotional and worry about something I can't control, y'know?" She sighed and her eyes met my blue gaze, "That's life." She said nonchalantly and took a sip of beer.

However, I was moreover in a trance. I couldn't stray my blues off of Morgan's chest. "Huh?" I blurted trying to regain my composure. I hoped to God that she didn't notice my sudden move. "Well at least you're pretty cool with it. God knows how I'd react to something like that," I chuckled.

"I try to be more optimistic about things, life in general," She said.

They both fell silent and Morgan wondered about James' relationship status, "What about you?" She asked.

She nearly caught me off guard. Honestly, I didn't even know the status of my own relationship at the moment. My girlfriend, Francesca, had been a little bitchy lately and hasn't spoken to me, not to mention that I felt the same towards her. Our relationship was a complete disaster-- balancing between bad or worse. Although my friends had no idea what was going on, and Lars may have had a slight idea, I made sure to keep everything under wraps. I tried to think what was the best way to describe my situation, "It's complicated," I said.

"Are you in a relationship that you don't want to be in?" Morgan asked.

I bobbed my head, "Something like that."

"Oh," She sighed and let her gaze cast over the table. "What's her name?"

"Francesca." I said quickly.

Morgan smiled, "That's a nice name. It's a hell of a lot more feminine than Morgan."

Ok, sorry if I'm kinda switching point-of-views here too often (I don't want to cause any confusion). I'm trying to figure out what works the best.

Two weeks had passed since Danielle and Morgan met the guys of Metallica. Danielle and Lars had made sure to keep in touch and soon they started dating. Morgan could sense the change on Danielle's behavior. Danielle seemed to act more relaxed and calm in relation to her normal self, and not to mention she seemed as if she were on cloud nine. Morgan, however, didn't really bother to keep in touch with anyone. However, Danielle did drag Morgan with her to go to Lars' place on several occasions, where Morgan had established a mild friendship with Kirk. Still there was not sight nor word from James. Danielle once spilled to Morgan that James asked about her when he accompanied her and Lars at Lars' home-- which made Morgan smile. Ever since that night at the bar, Morgan seemed rather excited and interested in James. She hooped that this was gonna be her opportunity to finally see James for the first time in two weeks because Lars had invited everyone over his house for a barbecue.

"How does this look?" Morgan asked. She held up a bright orange colored halter dress up to her frame and raised her brows at Danielle waiting to hear either a yes or a no.

Danielle smirked, "No." Making Morgan groan, "Ugh. I have nothing else to wear!" She exclaimed and flopped on Danielle's bed.

Danielle rolled her eyes, "Maybe you're just being too self conscious." She said waltzing over to the closet trying to find something nice for Morgan to wear.

Morgan shot her eyes over to Danielle, "Maybe you should shut the hell up." She offered. "You know you're not the one trying to make a good impression on someone. You already have a boyfriend-- mind you that the bastard is famous! I'm tried of being single and well I think I'm starting to have a thing for James maybe."

Danielle shook her head lightly taking in everything her headstrong friend just said. She knew it, she knew Morgan would come clean eventually. She liked someone that she never thought she'd ever like and it was freaking her out. To make matters worse, James had one problem-- Francesca.

Danielle looked over at Morgan and said, "Maybe you should--" She stopped and held out a white halter top and long denim skirt, "Wear this!"

Morgan's brown eyes peeked up from the pillow and they shined, "OK!" She exclaimed. Morgan ran and took the outfit changing immediately and asked Danielle, "How do it look?" Danielle smiled, "Great. Now come on! Lars is waiting." The girls filed into Danielle's car and drove to Lars' house. Once there they were greeted by Lars himself . Lars hugged Morgan and he turned his attention to Danielle. He greeted his girlfriend with a warm kiss and a tight hug, "Hey babe." He said happily. "You ready to meet my friends?" He asked looking into Danielle's eyes with adoration.

Both girls followed Lars outside into his backyard. It was beautifully decorated with warm colors and there were quite a few people there. Mostly there were people from the biz and close friends chatting here and there. People sat around the pool and the smell of smoked barbecue filled the air. Morgan only wondered where James was, hoping she could talk to him since she hadn't seen him in what seemed to be forever. Her eyes wondered around scanning the scene for James. Her heart pounded relentlessly wondering what it will be like when they finally see each other.

Lars was dragged over to Bob to talk business and Danielle decided to let them be and she walked over to Morgan and stood, exchanging looks with her frequently. "You ok?" She asked. Morgan was way beyond nervous, she was a nervous wreck.

Morgan nodded and snatched a martini from the tray, gulping it down in a matter of seconds, she replied, "Yeah. I'm ok."

Danielle grinned and smirked, "Chill woman, it's just James Hetfield." She said making Morgan smile slightly. Danielle nudged her, "And besides... I think him and his girl are still together..." Morgan's face fell. "But I'm sure they're not doing as good." She corrected.

"What if I'm getting eager over nothing..." Morgan sighed.

Danielle shrugged, "I know he likes you too. He couldn't stop asking about you when he came over Lars'."

Morgan sighed relieved, "I don't know" She slumped her shoulders down. "Maybe I am worrying too much."

Danielle took a sip of her drink and nodded, "Maybe you wanna worry just a little more..." Morgan furrowed her brows and stared at Danielle, who nodded over to the figure that was approaching them.

Francesca happily approached Morgan and Danielle. She shined brightly wearing a bright pastel yellow t-shirt and a pair of nicely fitted denim jeans that seemed to work perfectly due to the weather. Morgan and Danielle immediatly stopped talking to each other and diverted their attention to her. When she reached the girls she smiled and introduced herself nicely, "Hi, I'm Francesca."

They stood awkwardly and Morgan took the honor to introduce herself, "Oh, hi I'm Morgan." She shook Francesca's hand and smiled warmly. Morgan noticed that Fran was blonde and had blue eyes much like James and she also was tanned. She was tall too, but her and Fran were around the same height. Danielle thought she was prettier than she thought.

"Danielle," Danielle shook Francesca's hand following after and offered a friendly smile too.

"Oh Danielle, you must be Lars' girlfriend," Francesca said.

Danielle chuckled and nodded, "Yeah." She said sheepishly.

"He talks about you a lot."

Danielle raised her brows in surprise, "Already? Ha, I thought he didn't like me much." She joked. "Just kidding, Lars is great."

Francesca nodded and agreed, "Yeah he is." She turned her attention to Morgan. She gazed at her, taking the time to size her up. She tried to figure out why James seemed so intrigued with her. Ever since he returned home Friday night he couldn't stop talking about how different Morgan seemed compared to other women-- maybe including herself she thought. Morgan had thick rimmed glasses that made her look rather like a librarian and she seemed to dress nice. Francesca smiled and said, "And Megan you're really gorgeous."

Morgan's face turned rather rigid and confused noting that Francesca addressed her by the wrong name.

Who the hell is Megan? She thought.

Morgan brushed Francesca's mild mistake off and smiled. "Thanks-- it's Morgan by the way--" She corrected. "And you're quite beautiful yourself, " Morgan said ushering her hands at Francesca's attire. "James didn't bother to tell me that his girlfriend was so pretty."

"Thank you," Francesca smiled. "Um, do you guys want any drinks or anything?" She asked motioning her hands at the bar.

Morgan shook her head lightly, "No, no. I'm fine thank you."

Danielle glared at her with a look that yelled 'Lighten up already'.

"I'll take one. Just one if you don't mind. I'm trying to lay off the drinks for a while," Danielle replied.

Francesca nodded and smiled politely and both girls followed her towards the large table filled with an assortment of many kinds of tasty dishes and plenty of drinks to go around. However, Morgan's eyes continued to scan the place for James and she hadn't been able to scope him out of the crowd. She really needed to talk with him-- she all of a sudden felt the urge to have his company.

Morgan eyed the table of treats with her mouth watering completely. Oh my God this all looks delicious, She thought. Having been a little shaken up form meeting James' girlfriend, she hoped desperately that everything wasn't quite going well in their relationship because if she didn't know any better, there was a slim chance that their relationship was going as bad as James had implied.

While Danielle and Fran conversed, Morgan decided to walk over to Kirk, "Hey!" She greeted him.

Kirk smiled and hugged her, "Hey. Look at you, you look great!" He exclaimed. Morgan nodded and then she grew serious, "Have you seen James?" She asked cautiously.

Kirk nodded, "Yeah he's over at the barbecue pit." Morgan's eyes trailed over to where James stood talking happily with one of his friends. She stared long enough to which James caught her eye and his face immediately lit up in delight and surprise. He waved at her and smiled and she returned the favor. James signaled to his buddy that he was gonna leave to greet Morgan and as he started towards her and Kirk, Francesca called his name and ran towards his direction.

"Oh James!" Francesca popped up ecstatically and ran over to James dragging him over to where Lars and Danielle were seated talking.

As Morgan's eyes trailed off, she continuously heard Kirk's muffled voice in the background. She got the quick glimpse of Francesca kissing James' lips warmly and smiling sincerely afterwards. As soon as Fran's eyes met Morgan's, she smiled significantly and Morgan quickly diverted her attention back to Kirk.

Oh my God. they're doing better than I thought. Who am I kidding? Morgan thought. Her nervousness was beginning to take over and she needed distraction quick. Not taking any chances, Morgan took a slice of chocolate cake and gobbled it down. She moaned pleased, "This chocolate cake is so good." She said stuffing it inside her mouth, "Have you tried the chocolate cake yet? It's the best damn cake I've ever had in my life!" She rambled frantically. "Can you believe that," She chuckled nervously.

Kirk frowned at Morgan's creepy eagerness, "Morgan, are you ok?"

She nodded with her mouth full of cake, "Yeah why do you ask?"

"Because you're acting as if you've just logged a bunch of crack," He slightly chuckled. He reached over and rubbed her arm, "Calm down." He whispered.

Morgan half smiled and nodded, "Yeah... I'll try." Kirk handed her a napkin to wipe her mouth because she looked every bit like a child with chocolate smeared on her face.

Kirk knew that Morgan had developed a tiny crush on James and he figured that she was nervous because James and Francesca had been acting more couple-ly lately. Kirk looked at James and Francesca and led his eyes back to Morgan, "If it makes you feel better, I think Fran's putting on a front." He whispered.

Meanwhile, Francesca got to know more about Danielle and Morgan with the help of Danielle herself, "James did you know that Morgan does autopsies?" Francesca asked surprised.

Of course he knew. He was the first person to find out.

James nodded, "Yeah she told me about it the other day when we met."

Francesca's face stiffened-- is there anything he didn't know about her already.

Just then Pepper, James' friend, came waltzing outside where the party was taking place holding a six pack of beer. He bear hugged James and hugged Francesca lightly. "Hey guys--" Pepper's words slurred as he got distracted suddenly. He caught the eye of a cute brunette off in the distance.

"Oh man..." he whispered.

James furrowed his brows at Pepper's sudden loss of his train of thought.

"Man are you ok?" James chuckled waving his hands in his friend's blank face.

Pepper blankly gazed at Morgan laughing and joking happily with Kirk. He couldn't stray his eyes off of her one bit. She was a gorgeous as eve, like he remembered.

"James?" Pepper asked. "That chick over there talking to Kirk, what's her name?"

James furrowed his brows yet again, "Who? Morgan?" he asked.

That was all Pep needed to hear. Morgan. Her name ringed like a bell. Yep, it had to be her. Morgan Louise Bordeaux, his first love. The woman who stole his heart back when he lived in Louisiana. Although she was much younger than himself, he loved her like no other.

Morgan continued to talk with Kirk and she found out that they had a lot in common. Their love for horror and macabre was completely comprehensible. He enjoyed hearing about her job and it deeply fascinated him. It felt good for Morgan to actually have someone that shared interest with her to talk about the things she liked. Unlike Kirk, most people go grossed out or either became uninterested at the drop of a dime.

"Have you ever gotten someone famous?" Kirk asked gleefully.

Morgan thought briefly and shook her head, "No--" She stopped in mid-sentence as she noticed a very familiar figure standing next to James. "Keenan?" She whispered his name silently as she furrowed her brows in question. She heard someone call his name loudly, "Hey Pep! You came!" That was it, it was Pepper. She smiled and stood up, Kirk's eyes followed her sudden movement.

"Pepper Keenan? When were you gonna tell me that you'd be here, Huh?" Morgan shouted as she stood next to Kirk tapping her foot on the deck.

Pepper furrowed his brows at the sight and he couldn't believe his eyes. She remembered him before he could say a word. Pepper sighed happily and grinned. Almost in a trance he breathed her name breathlessly, "Morgan..."

She smiled brightly and ran full speed towards Pepper. Leaping off the ground and landing right in his arms, she enveloped him into a tight embrace, wrapping her arms around his neck as he lifted her off the ground. The couple were completely engrossed in a tight hug, heavily excited to see each other after such a long time of being separated.

Morgan nuzzled her face in Pepper's neck and inhaled his scent. It had been so long since she was able to smell him and feel his touch.

She smiled, enjoying the moment, "Of course it's me!" She stated calmly.

The others eyed them suspiciously. They had no idea that the two were familiar with each other and grew more suspect over the situation. Well, they were surely going to find out. Kirk exchanged a confused look with Lars, who looked at Jason, who shrugged. Even Danielle had no idea that Morgan knew Pep-- but at the same time Morgan never really told her much about her life before they met. James however felt slightly jealous. He was more confused than anyone else. He actually began to like Morgan a lot more than he had planned and to see her all over another guy so soon made his blood boil. Francesca was rather different. She was actually happy about the entire situation and mostly happy for Pepper. She held on to James' arm tightly as she watched the two with glee.

Pepper brought his face closer to Morgan's and whispered, "I missed you so much babe." He gazed into her brown eyes with his full of happiness. He wouldn't have wanted to see any other beautiful sight than her tantalizing brown gaze.

Morgan smiled at his words, "Me too. I haven't seen you in forever." She said exasperated while getting rid of his arms and standing before him. She inspected every aspect of Pepper and stood back with a grin plastered on her face, "Look at you all handsome and what not." She said through her semi-thick southern accent. She then strode back over to Pepper and grabbed him into another tight hug. "Tell me you missed me just as much," She whispered into his ear.

Pepper looked at her sincerely." I have actually," He breathed while entangling his fingers with hers, "I missed you more than you could ever imagine." He finished with a hard tender kiss on her cheek, causing her to smile even more.

Pepper stood back and took his time to observe her also, "And you!" He exclaimed, "You look as perfect as always." He said, letting his gaze land on her body, "You're a hot mama!"

Morgan giggled and playfully punched his arm, "God, stop it! You're making me blush." She said sarcastically.

"I'm serious. You're glowing." Pepper stated solemnly.

She shook her head and nodded. Returning her gaze back to him, "Only because I'm so ecstatic to see my Pepper." She said while tapping his chest.

"When did you get here?" he asked. Last time he remembered seeing Morgan was when he was leaving for California— which happened to be some years ago.

"I came here to study. I'm a pathologist now," she said causing Pepper to laugh.

"I knew you were gonna do that. You're so weird, but I like that."He smiled admiring her. "Babe, I think I was gonna go crazy if I didn't see you soon enough," he breathed.

"Well I'm here and I'm not leaving." She said. "Unless I have to move back in with my parents," Morgan joked.

He smiled at her words, "I hope not." He said looking into her eyes for the millionth time that moment.

Morgan moved her face to where she could easily see the other guys and smiled at them. Everyone else looked back at them with curiosity plainly present on their faces. Pep took Morgan's had and they both sat down with everyone else. Morgan's gaze drifted off to James, who continued to eyeball her and Pep, exchanging looks from their hands and back to her face.

"Wait a minute, you cut your hair?" Morgan asked completely surprised.

"Yeah..." he nodded. "You just now noticed?"

"I just now paid attention," She laughed. "It was much longer back then." Morgan entangled her fingers in Pepper's shoulder length hair. "I like it," she confessed and smiled at Pepper.

To James, this was all confusing. Pepper didn't seem like Morgan's type and then again when he asked her if she knew Pepper she said that she'd never heard of him.

More as promised

James continued to pierce Morgan's eyes with his demanding gaze. He was pissed to the max. He wanted to at least have a slight chance with her, but the way her eyes glittered when she seen Pepper pretty much set the record straight. Then again maybe he was psyching himself out too much, maybe she only saw Pepper as a friend and nothing more. His main motive was to think positive and let everything fall into place-- as long as Morgan doesn't fall back into Pep's arms.

Morgan's POV

Ever since Keenan showed up, I kinda grew slightly more happier. I hadn't seen him in such a while that I nearly forgot what he looked like. He looks a lot older and different now, but I like it. Then again maybe he showed up at the wrong time because now he's gonna be a serious distraction for me. I was kinda hoping to get closer to James but he has his own girlfriend to deal with, right? I mean what's the point of getting giddy over someone that doesn't have a chance with you.

"How did you guys meet?" Fran asked enthusiastically. She kept smiling ever since Keenan and I's reunion earlier.

Pep looked at me and smiled and I offered him a small smile back. He sighed and turned back to Fran, "Well I met this pretty lady here," Pep smiled gazing at me, "Back when I was in high school. She was my neighbor and our moms were friends. I remember when we first met, I was walking outside to get the mail and she was in her front yard fighting with her brother-- I mean they were literally almost kicking each other's asses," He laughed. "All I remember was that her brother had her in a head lock and she whipped around and slammed him on the grass," he laughed. "She started started punching him and then he reeled in and punched her right dead in the eye. It was crazy. I ran to break it up and when it was over her brother ran back inside their house and she just sat there pissed. He gave her a black eye the size of Montana!" He explained and everyone else laughed.

I glared at Pepper and punched his arm forcefully. Pepper touched his arm and silently groaned and chuckled, "What? I'm stating facts here babe!" he exclaimed.

"Whatever..." I mumbled.

"Anyway," Keenan said as he looked back at me. "I help her up and everything and I thought she was so cute. But she wore these geeky glasses and she was wearing overalls that we're a size too big--"

I interrupted Pep and said, "To make a long story short," I said looking at Keenan, "We became friends and started dating for a while and then he left for California."

Keenan smiled and softly kissed my cheek, "You're amazing." He breathed.

I coyly smiled and the guys laughed and began to tease Pep, except for James. James glared at Keenan and then he let his gaze fall on me with a desperate look. I got up and decided to excuse myself and went to the bathroom. When I got finished I walked out into Lars' living room and no one other than James was standing there waiting for me.

"I thought you told me that you didn't know Pep," He said rather demanding.

I sighed and shrugged, "I always referred to him as Keenan... I hardly called him Pepper or Pep." I crossed my arms over my chest. Part of me was slightly annoyed how James acted as if everything offended him-- meaning that if he saw me with a guy he'd get jealous. I'm not his girlfriend, hell and he actually has one so what does he think he's doing?

"Ok whatever..." James mumbled. "Do you think he wants to still be with you?" He asked.

I shrugged. I really hoped not. I left him for a reason-- actually I left him way before he moved out here to California. I hadn't planned on seeing Keenan for a while honestly. I shook my head, "I don't know and I really could care less. We broke up for a reason..."

"And what reason is that?" James asked approaching me closer.

"An undisclosed reason," I said. James nodded, I'm sure he knew that I didn't want to talk about it. I never really told anyone the underlying reason why I broke up with Pep except my mom.

I patted his shoulder and walked back outside and sat down with Keenan. We began to talk about what each of us had been up to lately. I learned that he and Woody are now in a band together that I had no idea about. I also found out that he had few girlfriends after we departed which I really didn't wanna hear about. He also told me about how he and the guys (James, Lars, Kirk, and Jason) became friends. I talked to him about my life after our split and how my brother, Erin, had a son five years ago-- since he and my brother grew close when we go together. I also told him about my career and my mom's passing. I kinda shied away from telling him about my love life and I really didn't want him to know about my failed relationship with Michael and my misconception over what I thought was gonna be an engagement. I knew that Keenan still had some left behind feelings for me which worried me heavily. I never thought about us getting back together and hadn't planned on seeing him for a while. I guess God put him here for a reason, but if it's up to me that reason isn't gonna pan out for the best.

Keenan and I stopped talking and he waltzed over to a few of his other guy friends and began to drink. James was over there too, laughing and talking. Every now and then I'd catch him stealing a slight glance at me here and there. Francesca was near Danielle and they were talking about God knows what. I had a feeling she didn't like me much-- but she adored Dani very much. That pissed me off but then again you can't make someone like you. Here I was sitting alone nearly drifting off to sleep when I felt someone's presence take a seat near me. I kept my eyes closed hoping it wasn't Keenan.

I opened my eyes and two bright blue eyes were staring at me, "Hey." James said.

I nodded, "Hi."

"You ok? I saw you sitting here alone. Where's Danielle?" He asked.

"Talking to your girlfriend," I huffed as I covered my mouth and yawned.

James nodded, "Well you look tired."

I nodded, "I am. I wanna go home and go to bed. I have to be at work early tomorrow and finish up this guy's evaluation."

"What kind of evaluation?" He asked attentively.

"I have to sum up everything that went on 24 hours before he died. I believe he died from some sort of illness. His body was found in his apartment at least four days after he passed. It was crazy he was near decomposition when we received him. You could tell, his body was beginning to swell profoundly and he reeked terribly," I said. "I'm sure he died of a heart attack because his heart showed many signs of stress and his arteries were nearly clogged."

James scrunched up his face almost disgusted, "Wow. That's sick-- I mean it's not sick but it amazes me how you seem so captivated by it all."

I nodded, "Well that's what I signed up to do. More power to me if I wanna accept a job that most people don't want. Not only do I get paid more, but I get a free psychologist too!" I said excitedly.

James laughed, "I'm guessing to deal with the emotional stress?"

I nodded, "You betcha!" I yawned again and rubbed my eyes, "I'm sleepy... I need Dani to come on so we can go home," I complained.

James smiled as he sat next to me, "I'd like to ride you home if you don't mind." He said arrogantly.

Did he just say what I think he said?

I laughed out loud causing him to look at me weird, "What?" I managed to say in between giggles.

James raised his brows and almost immediately caught his mistake. He blushed mildly turning a light shade of pink and grinned, "Oh my God that came out wrong!" He said joining in on the joke.

I smiled, "Ya think..." I said absentmindedly.

I rolled my eyes over to James who whispered, "This is so embarrassing."

I crossed my arms over my chest and nodded, "I know." I sighed and contemplated on whether or not to say the next thing that was demanding to fly out of my mouth. A playful smile danced on my lips, "Although I wouldn't have a problem riding you home..." I blushed and bit my bottom lip. I looked back up at James who had this glossy lustful fire in his eyes. Ok maybe I shouldn't have said that. Then my eyes slowly traveled down south and he had a noticeable bulge in his pants. I bit my lip harder trying not to laugh.

James looked down with his gaze following mines. He looked up at me with a smug glare, "I hate you..." James muttered trying to adjust his crotch.

"James try to control Your mannerisms there..." I joked.

He continued to loosen his belt and gazed nervously around hoping no one was paying any attention. "I can't control it when a cute girl keeps bothering me," He said smiling as he softly grazed my bare arm with the tip of his fingers.

I blushed and held my head down like a shy little girl, "Sorry I get carried away sometimes."

James smirked and gave me a look that said 'you don't say' causing me to laugh. We entered an awkward silence just the two of us looking at everyone else and not at each other. You could tell that the party was beginning to wind down. Everyone began to just sit and talk as the sun faded out into the distance. I looked back at James and realized that I kinda liked the harmless flirting he and I were doing, but something kept telling me that it wouldn't last as long as his significant other had anything to do with it.

James sighed and took a sip of his beer. He directed his attention back to me, "I meant to say do you need a ride home?" He asked.

I wanted to say yes, but I didn't want anything to happen. I shook my head, "Nah I have Danielle." I said ushering my hands at Danielle's figure.

Danielle stopped talking with Lars and turned around shaking her head, "Sorry honey, I'm crashing at Lars' place tonight." She yelled loud enough for James and I to hear.

I silently groaned. What happened to friends when you needed them the most? I rolled my eyes, "You're kidding?" I said exasperated shaking my head. I sighed and turned back to James, "Well Keenan can drop me off."

James furrowed his brows and nodded his head over at Pep who not surprisingly was dancing and staggering all over the place. Shit! He was drunk-- and then he fell over spilling his drink-- no he was wasted. James laughed hysterically and so did everyone else that saw. I face palmed myself embarrassed as hell. If there was one thing that hadn't changed much about him, it was his drinking habits.

James turned back to me, "You want a ride from him?" He asked.

It was completely obvious to everyone that Keenan was in no way, shape, or form in the position to drive. I shrugged, "I'll take my chances." I said not taking my eyes of a wreck of a friend I had.

James shook his head, "No you won't." He leaned in closer to my face and our noses were nearly touching. I could feel his breath on me and my heart rate began to beat faster and faster. "I'm gonna take you home, you're gonna let me, and you're gonna be safe and sound in your bed, ok?" He commanded staring into my eyes.

I shook my head. I could be very stubborn at times, "Well there's Kirk." I offered.

James smirked, "Yeah too bad he left ten minutes ago."

My face fell, "I could've sworn I seen him not too long ago."

I thought and pondered when I had last seen him and James shook his head, "Just let me ride you home!" He nearly yelled.

I shook my head and crossed my arms over my chest again, "Geez James if you want to ride me so bad, we can go to your house..." I muttered sarcastically.

James stomped his foot on the ground and muttered what I guess was a "Fuck!" and looked at me. "Shit I don't know why I keep saying that-- my bad," He apologized.

I huffed and admitted defeat, "Well how about that ride?" I smirked. James didn't seem to give up not one bit-- that guy was literally determined to take me home.

James smiled victoriously grasping a weird look from me, "Great." he smiled, "I'm gonna tell Fran I'll be back," he said getting a head start over to his girlfriend.

I raised my hand, "Wait!" I yelled and he stopped to turn back to me, "I mean will she be ok with it?" I asked. There was no doubt that she wasn't suspicious about James having a slight attraction towards me and I didn't want her all up on my ass for the next hundred years because she thinks I'm trying to steal her man from her.

James nodded, "Yeah I'm sure she won't mind. Pep's too drunk and Danielle is staying. It's only right." he said. I nodded and ushered him to go on and ask.

"As long as its ok with her. I guess it's fine," I sighed talking to myself. I trailed over by the pool and sat on the edge waiting for James to come back.

James' POV

"What? Can't anyone else take her?" Fran asked annoyed. She was starting to piss me off. Ever since Morgan showed up she's been attached to me at the fucking hip. If it were any other day she'd act as if we weren't together. This was the type of bullshit that would get on my fucking nerves about her.

I sighed and rubbed my face, "Fran no one else is available." I said justifying my point.

She heaved a deep sigh and shook her head back at me, "James..." She called my name helplessly. It was only a matter of time before she'd agree as always. I smiled apologetically trying even more to convince her. Fran sighed and shrugged, "Ok but get back safe and don't take so long!" She commanded.

I nodded and patted her shoulder and she looked at me offensively. I smiled as I walked back outside to get Morgan so I could take her home.

Once outside I noticed that Morgan was trying to consolidate Pep-- what the fuck is this?

"Honey what are you doing?" Morgan kept staring down at Pep.

"Babe--Morgan I still love you! Can you come back to me? Please!" Pep was literally on his knees begging Morgan to take him back.

"Ok..." I mumbled as I walked over to the two. I stood by Morgan who kept her eyes on Pep. She looked both concerned and a little freaked out, "What is up with him?" I asked trying hard not to laugh. Poor Pep looked a wreck. The guy had tears streaming down his face like he just had his heart broken.

Morgan kept her eyes on Pep and said, "I have no clue..." She looked back at me confused, "I think he's over done his limit. You should've seen him!" She shouted motioning her hands at Pep. "He came staggering over to me and he grabbed my hand and started babbling about how much he misses up being together..." She said. "Pep! Stop you look stupid!" She shouted.

Inside I hoped that everything that Pep was saying and doing was just because of his drunken state but if there was one thing I knew was that when ever someone is drunk, everything that happens to come out of their mouth is most likely one hundred percent true. Shit if he wants her back then me and Morgan don't have the slightest chance.

Morgan and I stared at Pep who was crying his eyes out in hysterics. He started to draw attention to us and Lars and Danielle walked over to us looking confused.

"What the fock is going on with Pep?" Lars chuckled as Pep's muffled cries got louder.

Morgan sighed and looked at him dully, "He's drunk beyond belief." She bent down and began to pry Pep's hands from around her legs and she pulled him up to his feet. Pep kept mumbling incoherent stuff such as, "Baby I love you so much! Please forgive me! I thought about you more when I left!" I helped Morgan help Pep stand on his feet because he was too wobbly to stand on his own.

"Is he gonna be ok?" Danielle asked. Morgan nodded, "Yeah... I guess I'm gonna have to take him home." I could hear the slight disappointment in her voice and I grew even more annoyed. Pep was my best friend but I never seen him this drunk in my life to the extent that he'd start bawling his eyes out like a chick. Something kept telling me that there was more to the story about why they had broken up.

Pep managed to scramble out of our grasp and he grabbed Morgan by her hand with a pleading face, "Morgan! Pleeeaaassseee! Take me back! I love you!" He shouted shaking her shoulders. Everyone stared in shock at Pep and Morgan looked horrified by his crazy gesture. "Pep please stop you're making a scene..." Morgan said nervously. She tried to get him off of her and as he loosened his grip, he staggered back, and tripped over his feet falling into Lars' pool with a big splash.

"Whoa!" Lars and Danielle shouted.

"Fuck!" Morgan yelled. She stripped off her skirt and kicked off her shoes, "Can you hold this?" She asked Danielle as she dived into the pool trying to get Pep back. Everyone watched in pure amazement at what was happening.

"What the hell is going on?" Fran asked as she ran outside. She looked at me and back that the other guys with an inquisitive glare. We all shrugged and diverted our attention to Morgan to swam up with Pep in her arms. He was coughing and sputtering water everywhere. Danielle ran into the house to grab a towel and she came running back with two towels, one for Morgan and the other for Pep.

I attempted to grab Morgan's hand to help her up, but Fran quickly snatched my hand back stopping me. I turned and face her pissed, "What the hell was up with that?" I asked through gritted teeth low enough that only she and I could hear.

"She got it herself," Fran argued. I rolled my eyes-- bitch.

Morgan leaped out of the pool only in her halter and a pair of shorts that she wore under her skirt. She grabbed Pep out and we noticed that he was unconscious. "Is he ok?" Fran asked sympathetically.

Morgan wiped her face and nodded, "Yeah..." She said breathlessly and pissed staring at Pep, "He's fine alright." Morgan turned to Lars and apologized for Pep's behavior, "I think it's time for us to leave being that mister drunken pirate pants decided to show his ass today... Sorry Lars. Sorry guys." She grabbed the towel from Danielle and wiped her face and body.

"I'll help you get him into the car," I offered but she stopped me, "James you don't have to take me home. I'll drive Pep's truck and he'll have to crash at my place..." She said.

I nodded, "Ok but at least let me help you get him in the car." Morgan nodded and agreed.

We both grabbed Pep and began to make our way outside to Lars' driveway where Pep parked his car. I was surprised that Fran hadn't decided to follow us outside.

"I hope his keys are in his pocket," Morgan said breaking the silence. You could tell that she was beyond annoyed with Pep. She had this nonchalant look on her face ever since the incident.

When we got to his car she shifted to his pocket and popped the lock. I opened the door and she help me lift him into the passenger seat. Pep' body slumped once in the seat and I lightly closed the door. I followed Morgan to the driver's side and she opened the door and stood there in front of me-- dripping wet with few clothing. I swear the bulge in my pants grew more. Her hair was wet and sticking to her body and her clothes as well. It was kinda cool outside and her top began to stick to her frame revealing more of her shape, and at the same time her nipples began to play peek-a-boo. I tried hard not to do anything out of character, but its hard for a predator to keep his cool when his prey is up for the taken.

'Thanks for the help," Morgan said snatching the keys that were dangling from my hands.

I smiled and looked at her seductively, "No problem." I took my hand under her chin and lifted her face closer to mines, "You owe me, " I said.

Morgan smiled and nodded, "Yeah. Maybe I can ride you home some other time." She said and we both laughed. Morgan shook her head and climbed into Pep's truck and shut the door, "No seriously-- I'll see you later. Hopefully."

I nodded, "Maybe," and leaned in closer to the window. We were face to face yet again and I wanted so bad to kiss her. Just as I leaned into the window and Morgan leaned in too, our lips barely touched when Danielle came running outside shouting Morgan's name.

"Morgan! You forgot your skirt!" She came over.

"Fuck!" I muttered frustrated.

"Here!" Danielle came over to us and handed Morgan her skirt. Morgan dully snatched it from Danielle and smirked.

"Bye guys," She said and started up the truck. Danielle and I backed away and waved as she drove off.

Danielle coughed and tapped my arm, "So have you guys kissed yet?" She asked playfully.

I groaned and rolled my eyes, "Yeah..." She turned to me surprised and I smirked, "Almost."

Poor Twisted Me

Sorry if this part is a little lame

Morgan's POV

The very next morning I woke up bright and early at a staggering six o'clock a.m. to get ready for work. I was still some what tired from yesterday's fiasco and it took all my strength to resist the temping calls of my bed. I got up and went directly to the bathroom to wash my face and brush my teeth. Then I took a shower that I desperately needed. Since I failed to take a shower last night, I still reeked of chlorine from Lars' pool. After my shower I got dressed in the usual scrubs and sneakers, brushed my hair into a high ponytail, and snatched my lab coat off the coat hanger in my room.

I ran into the living room and noticed Pep was passed out on the couch-- still unconscious. That man was a complete and utter wreck last night and I'd be lying if I said he didn't embarrass us both. When I got home I had the luxury of carrying him inside and I nearly fell and broke my fucking neck trying to get his heavy ass out of the car. To make matters worse, I attempted to wake him up once we were inside and his eyes flew open and so did his mouth, spewing vomit all over Danielle's hardwood floor. I don't think I could ever forgive him for his little stunt yesterday.

I walked over to his dormant body and softly grazed his hair with my fingers, "You drive me insane...I hope you know that," I whispered. I shook my head and stood up from the couch and watched as he stirred a bit in his sleep. I wanted to kick him out, but I'm sure he'll find his way out before I get home from work. In the mean time I'll just leave a note for him telling my whereabouts.

I strolled over to the kitchen and grabbed a pen scribbling a personal note for Pep that read:

Hey I'm headed off to work. I don't get off until three or so. Call me if you need anything and your car keys are on the counter by the coffee machine.

Love Morgan,
P.S. Don't ever touch a drop of alcohol again! EVER!

"Well that should do the trick," I whispered folding the note. I signed his name on the outside and left it on the counter for him to read.

I grabbed my bags and my keys. I locked up the house and hopped in my car, driving downtown to my gruesome job. There was early morning traffic--go figure and it took me at least forty five minutes to get to work. Once I got to where I was going, I drove into the parking lot and got my things out and walked into the building. The facility in which I worked was in a secluded area aside from everything else. I walked inside and signed in and made my way to the lab where no one other than Chris was patiently awaiting my arrival-- along with the rotten stench of dead flesh.

"Hey Chris!" I exclaimed as I greeted him. Dr. Christopher Noel Stephenson was my mentor and the alpha medical examiner. He had green eyes and dark brown hair, and like me he wore glasses. He was only a few years older than myself, he was thirty two, and he already was very skilled at his job. Although he took his job very seriously, he would never fail to ease the serious and mind bending environment with a couple of jokes here and there.

"Hey!" He exclaimed patting my shoulder. "You seem happy," he commented.

I nodded, "Yeah well I am actually," I said smiling afterwards.

He raised his brows at me. I'm sure he's never seen me so happy before, "What happened?" he asked sliding on his gloves.

"Well," I sighed and leaned back against the counter. "I met this guy and he's really cool. Turns out that he's actually not like what I'd though he'd be. Besides that," I sighed, "I was reunited with an old friend yesterday-- who managed to get wasted and now he's at my place flatlined."

Chris chuckled, "Well I can understand the first part, but the second is a little bizarre."

I nodded and let my gaze drift over to the operating table, "Yeah well... I guess we should get started." I raised my brows and snapped my gloves on my hands. Chris agreed and we began our grueling autopsy process.

The entire time we were examining a twenty eight year old male who most likely did of natural causes. He was found in his home a few days ago and we recently discovered that he was found a couple of days after he died which was a really bad thing. His body had already started the decomposition phase and we need to finish our investigation quick before the state of his organs would change. After five long hours, Chris and I were done and came up with our final report on our patient's cause of death. Apparently he died of a stroke from a previous heart condition. Then there was the hard part that would come next-- revealing the cause of death to the victim's family. Either if it was natural, homicide, or suicide I always abhorred telling their families about their reason for dying. I packed up my stuff and got ready to leave when Kelly, the secretary, came to me and told me that I had a visitor. I left my thing in the lab and cleaned my self up.

I walked out to the front desk and saw two gorgeous blue eyes staring back at me, "Hey."

James' POV

I decided to pay Morgan a visit at her job since Fran left earlier to hang out with a few of her friends. I hop she didn't expect me to lay low at home and be bored all day. I had to ask Danielle directions to Morgan's job so I could see her. Danielle warned me about the paps but I could care less, but still I couldn't go out and risk getting a picture taken of Morgan and I together in public-- just imagine of Fran saw it. I could see everything on headlines right now and a shit load of sirens going off. I hopped into my truck and drove carefully down the streets of San Francisco looking for the building Morgan worked in.

A soon as I walked inside, a whiff of the most rancid smell slapped me in the face-- I was defiantly in the right building. The secretary smiled as I approached her and asked for Morgan. Morgan came out and looked as cute as ever and stared at me in shock with her eyes glittering as if she just seen God himself.

She smiled at me a little surprised, "Well hello there. What are you doing here?" she asked leaning against the threshold.

I leaned back on my heels and smiled nervously, "Well I had to get directions from Danielle on how to get here, but I really wanted to ask if you'd like to go to lunch with me? If you don't mind," I said. I kinda scratched the back of my head shyly. Morgan was the only girl that had the ability to make me nervous which was weird.

She smiled scrutinizing my gestures, "Oh no. It's no problem. I was just getting done anyway," she said. "Just let me get my stuff and we can be on our way."

I nodded, "Alright," I said. Morgan ran back into the lab to get her stuff.

She came walking back and asked, "Ready?"

I nodded and smiled, "As always." I followed Morgan as we trailed off into the parking lot.

Morgan turned to me, "Where'd you wanna go?" she asked.

I shrugged. I had no idea where to go-- I was just more so excited to see her again that I lost track of thought. That's when I knew my feelings went deeper for her than I thought. She mattered a lot to me, more than my own actual girlfriend. It's strange how we're able to meet someone in short notice and they instantly capture your heart.

"James..." Morgan whispered waving her hands in my face. "Are you in there?"

She knocked me out of my trance and I looked back at her to see her arms crossed, "I'll pay and you choose," I replied.

Morgan nodded slowly in thought, "Burgers?" she asked.

I smiled, "That's fine and plus I know the perfect place."

Morgan agreed and said, "Lead the way!" She and I both go into our separate cars and she followed me to our destination. I picked the perfect place that sold the best burgers in town. It was a little rugged burger shack downtown called "Big Mike's Burger Shack". They had the best tasting burgers and they were huge. Morgan and I got out of our cars and we sat at a booth in the far corner near the window. The waitress came by us and took our orders, but Morgan didn't know exactly what to get so I chose for her: A double cheeseburger with fire grilled onions. but Morgan made sure to order extra mayo which reminded me a lot of Lars.

The waitress left and I turned to Morgan to break the silence, "How's Pep?" I asked.

Morgan exaggeratedly huffed and groaned like a walrus causing me to laugh, "He's a hungover disaster," She yelled. "He damn near fell down the steps last night when I tried to get him into the house," She rolled her eyes and rested her hands on her face. "On top of that he puked his guts out all over the floor and I had to clean it up this morning..."

"I bet you were pissed," I chuckled.

She gave me a dull look, "And still am."

I took a sip of my drink and asked, "Is he at your place still?"

She nodded, "Yeah but I'm kicking him out as soon as I get home." Morgan sighed and looked out the window and back at me, "Look I have no idea what was going on with him yesterday. He was acting strange and I'm not used to that side of him-- No wait take that back, he was a complete drunk back when he was younger too. Y'know just not like to the point where he'd be on the brink of tears..."

"Yeah neither have I," I agreed. "I've never seen Pep in that state." Last time I checked I thought I was more of a drunk than Pep, apparently I was wrong.

Morgan nodded, "I know." She paused and narrowed her eyes at me and smiled, "Did you have to sneak out or what?" She asked.

I laughed, "No I didn't. Fran's out with one of her friends."

Morgan nodded slowly, "Oh."

Then I said, "I took the chance to seize the moment and decided to hang with you." It was true-- I had no idea when the next opportunity would come for me to see her and I wanted it to be soon.

Morgan leaned back and smiled, "That's good to know, but I have to pick up my kid later like around three or so."

What? A kid? My eyes slightly grew an inch wider, "You have a child?" I asked surprised.

Morgan laughed and waved a hand in the air, "I have a nephew. His name is Noah and he's five. I usually pick him up from kindergarten when my brother can't make it." She smiled and narrowed her eyes at me, "Did you seriously think I had a child?" She asked. I shrugged. How it came out of her mouth sure sounded convincing. Morgan chuckled, "Imagine what career day would be like for my kids. The teacher would be like what does your mom do for a living and my kid innocently says she operates on dead people. That would be weird and hilarious," She said causing us both to laugh.

I nodded, "Yeah but imagine me. I'm a famous rockstar in one if the biggest heavy metal bands."

Morgan agreed, "Yeah that too. They'll freak." She sighed, "But I have a feeling your kids could probably care less about you being a rockstar and only see you as what matters the most, their father."

I smiled, "Yeah." This girl knew all the right things to say.

Morgan smiled, "You seem like you'll make a great dad-- to a certain extent."

I raised my brows, "What's that supposed to mean?" I asked.

Morgan sighed, "You'll be gone majority of the time and you won't be able to see your kids as often as you'd like unless you take them on tour with you."

I rolled my eyes and Morgan smiled, "Thanks for reminding me."

She nodded and looked around. Our waitress came back and gave us our burgers and man did they look delicious. My stomach growled loudly and Morgan gave me a weird look and then laughed, "God I didn't know they were so huge!" She exclaimed with wide eyes. She studied her burger and grasped it with both hands and took a huge bite. She moaned and a stream of mayo slid down her chin, "This is freakin delicious! Its like heaven!" She said with her mouth full of food. I laughed at her, she was just too good to be true. Fran was so prim and proper when it came to eating and hated when I ate sloppily. The sexiest thing was seeing mayo dripping from Morgans mouth-- as disgusting as it sounds.

I grabbed my napkin and wiped her face for her and she smiled in return. Morgan sighed and asked, "Do you like kids?"

I nodded, "Actually I do a lot more than I thought. Bob has like fifteen of his own," I laughed. "One couldn't hurt. I can see a slightly family friendlier side of Metallica soon," I said.

Morgan nodded, "Your time is ticking. You don't wanna be forty and have your first child," She pointed and I gave her a dull look.

"What?" She shrugged. "That's too old."

"You're damn near thirty," I pointed and she rolled her eyes.

"Don't remind me! I really want to settle down soon," She whined.

"Why?" I asked. I wasn't really the committing type if you asked me. Fran's been trying to get me to marry her for the past two years. For some reason i didn't think I was in the position to marry anyone at the moment.

Morgan sighed, "Because its all I've imagined practically majority of my life. I don't want to sound like one of those crazy thirty year old single women without kids... but my biological click is ticking and no more messing around for me. Honestly I thought Micheal was the guy I'd share my life with but that flew out the window as quick as it came." She then mumbled, "Man I really need to shut up about him..."

The it hit me, "What about Pep?"

Morgan stopped right in her tracks and gave me the coldest stare I've seen from her, "Don't go there. That's a whole other ball game." She sighed and looked off.

I furrowed my brows, "Is it that bad?" I asked. I really wanted to know what actually happened between the both of them. When ever I mentioned Pep, Morgan always acted slightly uneasy and uncomfortable. Something kept telling me that something drastic happened while they were together and I wanted to find out what it was.

She shoo her head, "No but I'm just--" She stuttered. "I'm not ready to reflect on that yet," She muttered.

"What happened?" I asked hoping she'd tell me.

Morgan shook her head, "I don't wanna tell you."

"Does Danielle know?" I asked.

"Nope. I hardly told her about my mom up until a year ago and we've known each other for five years," Morgan mentioned.

Trying to ease the environment I decided to focus on something else, "When did you move here?" I asked.

She sighed, "Well my brother came here in '90 and I moved here a few moths after he did and I lived with him for a while. Then I met Danielle through my brother's wife and she's the one that introduced me to Michael."

"And your dad?" I asked since she never said anything about him.

"Is alive and well in Baton Rouge with his new wife, Lisa. We're supposed to head back down there this summer to visit, " She said.

I nodded, "That's cool. Do you guys hunt?" I asked.

"Why? Is that something your interested in?" She asked.

"Yeah I love to hunt and plus that's where most people hunt, down south."

Morgan laughed, "What a coincidence I like to hunt too." I lost it after that-- she likes to hunt? Inside I was thanking god a million times for giving me the opportunity to meet her. Morgan was too good to be true like I said before. "I've been hunting ever since I was four. I got a clean Winchester rifle when I was maybe thirteen years old. My dad hunts all the time and he'd always take us when we were kids. He has a lot of land out in the country and he hunts there during the harvesting season with my uncles and grandpa. They're a ton of rednecks James," She laughed.

"Well I'll fit in great," I laughed.

"I'm sure you would," She said. "My mom's side is creole so they're more cultural and superstitious. It's like they're from two different worlds."

I smiled, "That explains a lot."

She nodded, "I'm sure it does."

"Do you live here in the city?" I asked.

She shook her head, "Nah I live with Danielle in the suburbs. I hate the city actually. I'm more like a country girl, obviously."

I nodded, "Me too. I'm not really a big city person. A house in the mountains or a secluded part of land fits best for me."

Morgan smiled brightly. "I know right. Just kick back and enjoy your own area without distractions."

"Yeah."

Morgan laid her head on her hand, "This is crazy," She breathed.

I furrowed my brows and leaned forward, "How is it crazy?" I asked.

It's like where have you been all my life?" she laughed. "I always thought you were an egotistical bastard-- even though you can be-- your like my soulmate. Which is weird for me to say because we haven't really known each other for long, but I feel as if you're the missing piece." She shrugged, "It's cheesy. I know." Morgan hung her head down in embarrassment and I thought it was cute.

I took my finger up to her chin and lifted her face up to face me. A small loving smile crept across my face, "It's not."
