Surely we, as Metallica fans, must have read books or seen movies or whatever, and they've somehow reminded us of Metallica, for whatever reason.

Let me try and explain.

I read "Othello" in English class, and to me, the entire play made me think of "The Unforgiven II", like Othello could have been the one singing the song.

And then I read the play "Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead", which is based off of Hamlet (IFL Shakespeare). At first I laughed because Hamlet is Danish like Lars, so I pretended that Ros and Guil were Kirk and James respectively. But reading on, the way each character acts on their own and with eachother, I thought that they really could be Ros and Guil. The way they struggle through trying to find their identities and figure out death, it's a shame that they die before they can get the answer.

Enough of my rambling, surely your examples are more interesing.

Well I've been reading and analysing the book "To Kill a Mockingbird" and I relate to the first Unforgiven song.
Basically this guy Tom Robinson (whom is black), helped out Bob Ewells daughter (whom are white). Bob Ewell's daughter made a move on Tom; Bob saw- hit his daughter, blamed it on Tom (Bob actually told the court it was attempted rape.) All of this because of racism and all Tom was doing, was trying to help. Tom was sentenced, even though the court heard substantial evidence showing he was innocent.

So for Tom:
The young boy learns their rules- Tom knows he is seen as a lesser citizen etc.

His will they'll take away- He dies trying to escape prison- take away his life, his family etc.

They dedicate their lives
To running all of his
He tries to please them all
- Tom helps people when they need basic chores doing. He tries to please everybody; even though he enjoys helping people they do not return the favour.

He's battled constantly
This fight he cannot win
A tired man they see no longer cares
The old man then prepares
To die regretfully
- The battle obviously is his life and the court case and he knows he will be found guilty because of his race.

I hope this all makes sense

Well...if this counts...and this is a tad bit embarrasing...ah hell who cares! But...when I listen to this one song called "Fooled Around and Fell in Love" I think of Lars for some reason...

I'll explain...if you ever listen to the song or read the lyrics, theres apart in the beginning that goes "I must have been through about a million girls, I'd love them and I live them alone..." and I think about Lars and his "groupie" days and so because of this..every time I hear the damn song I think of him lol

I actually wrote about James Hetfield today in English. We had to persuade not to throw somebody famous off a hot air balloon so I chose him :) :nanner:

I'm writing a paper on Othello, how everyone dies (main character by his own hand) and nobody is saved. My paper is called...

Suicide and Redemption in Othello.

A++++ Guaranteed.

Whoa crazy! I imagined James as Roland too! They just seem to have the same kinda presence, ya know. I love the Dark Tower Series. :biggrin Also, The Outlaw Torn reminds me of how Roland feels about The Tower and The God That Failed reminds me of Roland and Jake's relationship in The Gunslinger.
