I've personally never had a problem with it, and I don't see why the sudden need to change it. If there was a separate forum for the Non-Metallica fanfics, then I wouldn't have a problem with that. I think the sub-forum could be easily overlooked, especially since (I think), there are more Metallica fics vs. non-Metallica fics.
Therefore, I'd have to agree with Auluna, and I voted no.
No hard feelings here, and I'd like no one to debate over it. It's simply a matter of personal opinion, no reason to get over-protective.

If you all really want a subforum inside the Fanfiction forum for non-Metallica fics, that's fine. A list would be appreciated.

As always, you make the final decision. But let me say this to you, one last time.

If you as the head honcho decide to separate fics, PLEASE give serious consideration to putting them into separate forums, not a forum and sub-forum. Even you must notice that threads filed away into sub forums get largely overlooked. My idea from the start was that Met-based fics get their own forum, and Non-Met fics get their own forum. Seems reasonable enough; all I ask (and this is just me, I do not speak for the rest of my sisters), is that you give much thought to the above idea before making a decision, if any is made at all.

Actually, I support Auluna's idea.

I don't think I'd be in favor of an entirely seperate forum. If we were to seperate the fan fics, I would favor a sub-forum in the Fan Fiction section. I think either way, be it a new forum or a sub forum, fics will be overlooked if they are seperated... which is why my personal preference is leaving things as they are. I think having all the fics together is a good idea, and perhaps a better labeling system should be developed to distinguish fics that are Metallica related, and those that are not. But if most people want them seperated, it's fine with me, we can do that. It's not a problem. Again, a list would be appreciated if we go that route.

A number of Met Chicks that I've spoken with off-site have all agreed that leaving the fan fiction forum be would be the best idea; however better labeling DOES make a great deal of sense as well. My previous post was only my idea of what changes could be made if any; but in truth I favor your idea of simply leaving them be.

That is because of the following: All of MY fics (the exact number escapes me) that I have posted here are Non-Met fics. Some of them have been up for years and have taken that long to garner a significant number of views/comments.

Raquel, almost two years ago it came to be that THIS site was the ONLY site that I could post my writings on without them being edited or removed entirely by a group of ultra-conservative mods for a highly-sponsored site (that shall remain nameless). I know a couple of other writers that are in the same situation as well. As writers, nothing terrifies us more than the thought of our stories being overlooked entirely, nothing. As a writer, not as a member of this site, I implore you to not make reality a writers greatest fear of being overlooked in what some of us see as our sanctuary

I'm changing my vote. Leave it as is because I for one am sick and tired of seeing this becoming a way for people to whine and moan about how stories don't get commented and get overlooked and thus feel oppressed, unloved, unwanted, unliked. Barely anyone comments because majority of readers lurk. Understand that and learn to write for yourself.

So it *is* a popularity contest and eventually it all hangs on who gets more comments/views. Whatever happened to creating "art" for self-expression? When did it stop being a vehicle for relieving your inner artistic self and started being a competition of who gets more comments? This all sounds like emotional blackmail. Seriously! It's not like the idea of banning non-met stories was suggested.

What a waste of time.

So why don't they vote? Like I said I don't even read the fanfics but I still voted because I'm a member of the board, I don't get why they don't vote.

I don't really care one way or the other what eventually happens, I just think that Bri's idea makes sense. The pictures forum is a sub-section of the Anything Metallica forum, it doesn't get overlooked in the slightest.

Hmm, perhaps they HAVE voted already, did you think of that?

Excuse me for merely stating that if it weren't for MetChicks I would be S.O.L. in terms of being able to publish my stories. I am sorry that stating my case seems to be such a criminal offense in your eyes.

As for getting views/comments, I am NOT gunning for the most of anything; I merely like to know that someone is taking a glance at my writing. You see, on the old site that I published stories on, there wasn't any way to tell if someone looked at your stories unless they commented. Thanks to the forum setting of MetChicks I can clearly see if someone has looked or not.

And one final note: Metchicks IS a vehicle for self-expression and artistic freedom for me. But what's the point of driving a fancy car if no one sees you in it?

Sorry, I hadn't looked at the voting numbers since last viewing the thread.

That's quite alright, it's easily overlooked :)

Understood, but the issue is not to ban non-metallica fiction.

I never said it was. All I said was that I was concerned about Non-Met stories getting overlooked IF they were sectioned off into a sub forum.
