...the fact that you equated fancy cars to fanfiction just ended the thread for me. In closing, what I'm sure we all think: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rLUY-nPLDTs See ya! |

Exactly. I've said this many times, and I'll say it here: I write what I write for me. If I think others would enjoy it, I post it. I really don't care if it gets read or commented on. It might irk me to see people reading and not commenting (yeah, don't think I can't read your name at the bottom of the page), but I don't bitch about it. Writing is my escape and my sanctuary. That's my main reason for being here. Because reading is my other escape and sanctuary. Whatever comes out of this, it doesn't bother me. I'll still post whatever. I'm not here to be popular. I just enjoy being creative, and I enjoy putting my creativeness out there on display. Because that is the true nature of an artist. Feel free to disagree or flame this. I am of a very indifferent nature. That is all. |

Eh, may I say something further here? I think it's probably something on all of our minds, and it's my personal vow this year for any MetSister I find myself in conflict with... |

I'm just going to clear up confusion here and say that the only reason the forum is called "METALLICA fan fiction" is for Google's sake, to drive more traffic to the forum. And it worked, because if you type "Metallica fan fiction" into Google, guess what pops up? That was my logic behind naming it that as you will see here in this topic from 2007 which was stickied for several weeks, several years ago: http://forum.metallichicks.com/index.php?showtopic=3069&hl= My intention was never to alienate non-Metallica fictions. Usually majority rules, but I may have to override this one. I just don't think it's a good idea to seperate the fics. I think if as fan fiction writers you internally developed a better labeling system, it would be a much easier and better solution. Unless you can give me a passionate reason why it is a beneficial idea to create an entirely different section for non-Met fics, I just don't see how this will help anything. As far as who is more "popular" than another, that's just something you're going to have to work out amongst yourselves. I cannot help you there. The majority of people here on any given day are unregistered users. They don't care or know who is or is not "popular." I know from personal experience I tend to read more than I comment, and I tend to read only those whom I personally consider consistantly good writers. Don't ask me to name names though. |

I still think that subforum or not, if someone doesn't want to read a Non-Met fanfic, they won't. The subforum won't change much. |

Ok, girls, please don't fight! There is an easy solution to all this. I understand where Bri and Aki are coming from. I enjoy reading Metallica fiction, and very seldom non-metallica fiction. I would love to see from the first page what kind of fiction I'm about to read. Here is a solution that could help with that. I just went to my fiction and edited the first pages. Very easy to do and it gives you info from the start. If everyone just does the same in the beginning of their fiction. ------------------------------------- Bands: (Names of the band or bands featured in the story) Type: (Hetero or slash) Pairing: (List of all pairings that appear) Warnings: (Any kind of mature content) Disclaimer: (All events are entirely fictional.) ------------------------------------ What you girls think?

Good idea Ollie. And also to possibly make it even quicker, add the fandom to the sub title. Like you put the name of the fic in the title and then... well the fandom. For example, (I'll use one of my oldies as an example, lol) Infact, fuck it am gonna do a full example using what Ollie posted. Title: Bad Boys Subtitle: Fandom: Metallica Fandom (like band(s), TV show whatever): Metallica Type: Slash Pairing: James/Kirk Rating: NC-17/18 Warnings: Full m/m sex, a little S&M. Disclaimer: All events are entirely fictional and are not meant to offend or harm. Read on at your own risk. That good for it? I think so. This was never meant to flare up an argument on any side. So, can this be the end of it? A simple amendment that just took me less than a minute to type up an example of. Not that much to ask. ![]() [EDIT: I know titles and subtitles can't be edited once posted but, could it be done from now on?] |

The function of editing the Title / Sub-title is just disabled, it's something Raquel can enable in the Admin Controls. I think it's an idea that both sides can be happy with. |

I agree as well. Just putting a little disclaimer/note in the very beginning does a world of good, but being able to edit the title and subtitle would be INCREDIBLY helpful as well. Every one of us in here has made some type of spelling or grammatical error when naming our stuff and has let out a few choice four-letter words when we realized we couldn't change it. Yep, some pretty good ideas there... |
