Well, I'm just starting to learn guitar and I'm not the type to learn from a book or whatever. I'm more of an active learner. Any suggestions on which song would be good to learn for a brand new guitarist? Thanks in advance for the help! :biggrin

tabs? bah! that's really easy
i think what you need is guitar pro...or start learning by ear (that would be better 'cause later you'll have a good ear )

I just started off learning bits and pieces of songs, a riff here and a riff there. I think the first bit I learnt was the intro to 'One', I just kept playing it over and over, haha.

get guitar pro, pick a song you like, look for the tabs and start trying :)
make sure you know the right technique first, though.

Guitar Pro is a good start on tabs.
As for the technique thing, I'd watch a lot of different guitarists play live, whether its from YouTube or a real concert or whatever. You can pick up a lot from them, without learning from a book. :P
And for songs... well that depends. You could start off with a simple song that you just want to learn because it's simple, or you could pick a really hard song you want to learn because you love it. Just pick a song you like, I'm sure you'll do fine. If you need any help with that song, then feel free to ask me (or I guess anyone else) on the forum. We won't say no. :)

Yeah, guitar pro is an excelent option for you, if you want to start learning some songs you like straight away. But also I would recommend that you practiced some scales in order to get some strenght in yur fingers and to get faster. There are plenty of scales exercises on the internet, it would be good if you practiced they in a daily basis. I do lots and lots of scales everyday. It's a bit boring but helps a lot. And I use guitar pro too, to learn some songs, it's helpful.
Hope you really enjoy your time learning the guitar. Have fun!

Thanks for all the responses everyone! I found some excercises to help me get used to playing and finger strength and stuff like that. I'll probably just play that and wait until I actually get used to playing and then I'll start on some songs. Once again, thanks! :D
