As I posted in a GD sticky, we're getting an updated board. One of the things I'd like to change is the top board banner: I'd like for someone to create a new board banner. Post your submissions in this thread, and I'll pick one (or maybe more) graphics to be used as the new board banner. GUIDELINES: There needs to be at least one photo of each band member (James, Kirk, Rob, Lars). All the photos should be recent (within the last 2-3 years). No text at all on the graphic (I will add the logo) Try to use simple colors and textures. Dimensions: 800-900 pixels wide and 130-150 pixels tall. I'll also take submissions of former eras of Metallica for use as different skins (Banners with Jason or Cliff). Don't mix eras though. Be creative. I'll only pick one banner to be the main graphic, but I may use others for different skins in the future. Deadline: Next Friday (Board goes offline Saturday!) |

Hey R@quel, I got an idea. Maybe you can make different skins for each member of something like that? I dunno, just an idea Don't know how hard it is to make such different skins so.. Anyway, I'm working on my banners

That is something that CAN be done, but making a skin is a lot of hard work, as I'm discovering right now  It's scouring CSS style sheets, and it sucks. Now, when the new board is up, any one of you can register a test board and make skins, and I'll be happy to upload them for use on the board! Right now, I'm concentrating on the "default" skin. And after that, I'm POSITIVE I will add more. Zeta boards encourage and promote making your own themes, unlike this board, where I had to manually insert a code into the footer to allow people to choose different skins.

Okay, I had no idea what kind of work it takes to make such skins. Good luck with that! I like it that we can create or own in the future though I'm defenitely going to try to make one and maybe that I could help you sometime if you need help

Absolutely! Hey, if you want to check it out, go to Zetaboards.com register a test board, and play around. In the admin panel, there's a theme section where you can pull up the style sheet and tweak to your hearts content. I recommend you also download "Color Cop" which basically gives you the CSS codes for individual colors. Very helpful. As of now, there is no Zeta theme generator that I can find, so I'm doing it by hand. |

You can comment and suggest, but in the end, I have to decide which banner is most applicable and usable with the new board style. |
