Hello people! I thought I'd post this one here too! It concerns Nightwish, and is mainly about the friendship between Tarja and Emppu. Disclaimer: No profit is being made from this story, these people belong to themselves and no disrespect is meant with this fiction. Chapter 1 Since she had been accepted, both at her official announcement of membership, and later, when she and the guys had developed a deep friendship, she had been curious about the one she was replacing, Tarja. Whenever she asked, the person would most probably not answer her with a real answer, but for any of them, they all had deep emotions conflicting in their eyes. For anyone not involved in the band, you could see awe, admiration, respect, sometimes tenderness. But in the band, the mere mention of her presence in the past could bring amazing reactions to all of them. Ewo was always the picture of regret before covering it up with his usual cheerfulness. Tero did his best to appear like he didn't hear the mention at all. Marco looked really sad but resigned to live through it all. Like he would have wanted another end but didn't get a chance to make things different. With Jukka, it was mostly anger. She didn't know if it was really because of her supposed late behavior or if it was his reaction to what he perceived as a betrayal, but he always looked so... resentful, his battery definitely suffered from it every time. However, the two people who clearly had the more profound baggage concerning Tarja were Emppu and Tuomas, and not only toward her and her departure, but also toward each other. Tuomas was angry too, although a completely different anger than Jukka. It was almost like rage. She had to admit, she was almost afraid of him when he looked like that. Nonetheless, he seemed extremely sure of his decision, and didn’t appear to feel any regret, even for the way he chose to kick out Tarja. A way, even she had to admit was quite disrespectful, informing her and the whole world at the same time, and exposing her bad traits like that, true or not, he probably could have found another way. The only problem he seemed to find was Emppu’s reactions. Indeed, Emppu was a whole different matter. When Tarja was mentioned, he would completely close up and try to leave the room Tuomas was in by whatever means necessary. She had followed him once because she was concerned; when she found him, his face was the portrait of agony. She had sat by him, and though it was clear her presence was not enough and he had not even uttered a word, it had apparently helped him a little. This episode had brought them considerably closer. However, she had a surprise for him! Indeed, for Christmas, Tarja was doing several shows strictly in Finland, with a mix of her albums’ songs and Finnish Christmas songs; one of these shows was in Kitee, the home of three of them, and she planned for Emppu and herself to go to it as a break among rehearsals for the Imaginaerum Tour. She was of course immensely curious to see and hear the famous diva live, and maybe she would find a way for Tarja and Emppu to meet and finally settle matters; although she’d like to meet her herself before, to make her own opinion. She had become quite protective of her little elf! Now she just had to find a way to offer her gift to Emppu without the others blowing a fuse… |

Chapter 2 (Anette’s POV) There, she was all ready! She had bought three tickets for Tarja’s show; two tickets for the show in Kitee, and the last one for herself, for a date in Helsinki a week beforehand. She wanted to see for herself the performance without the need to control her emotions, her reactions, and eventually meet the singer face to face. It would be better if they could talk alone earlier than the eventual meeting with Emppu. Anyway, she had quite a lot of things planned before the possible meeting between Emppu and Tarja. First, she had to get both sides of the story as well as their feelings though it and nowadays. For that, she needed to make Emppu finally open up about the split, and to be able to talk to Tarja after her Helsinki’s show. Then she had to announce the good (at least she hoped so) news to Emppu, preferably when alone, because she had no idea how the others would react to her proposition. But, one problem at a time. How on earth was she supposed to convince anyone to give her a pass for backstage? She was the singer who took her place; Tarja didn’t have a reason to accept to meet her. Especially if this Marcello was controlling who received what. She didn’t know if what the guys said about him was true, but it was better to have a back-up plan. (Was it her, or did it feel more and more like a commando mission?) That’s why she was looking for Ewo while the guys were working on instruments details. She finally found him smoking outside and addressed him quickly in case the boys finished sooner than planned. “Hey Ewo!” “Hey Anette! What’re you doing outside? It’s too cold for your voice!” “Well, yes, that’s why the boys won’t look for me here!” She answered with a little smirk. “Oh oh, what unmentionable activity do you plan to do?” He asked with a leer. She smacked his arm then gave back with a smile, “Nothing like that silly! However, I do need to talk to you, privately.” Something in her voice or on her face must have convinced him of the seriousness of the situation because he quickly proposed that they meet for lunch under the guise of a possible vocal collaboration with other artists. As intended, Anette and Ewo met just a few hours later. “So, what is this obscure secret thing you need to talk about? You’re not about to tell me you’re living the band, are you?” Ewo asked, with a smile but a hint of apprehension in his eyes. “No, no, no! Nothing like that! I’m in the band and you’re stuck with me now!” She answered with a laugh. “Seriously though, I have an idea for Emppu’s Christmas gift that needs quite a lot of preparation, and I need your help.” Here, she hesitated. It was now or never, but for so long the subject had been taboo, she had trouble to begin. “You see, even if I never said anything, I did notice the tensions in the band about…Tarja.” Pfeww, there she said it… If the situation was not so serious, she would have laughed at Ewo’s face! His mouth was literally hanging open. “When I got into the band, among all the overpowered emotions flowing through the band, I did perceive that each one of the members had a really different reaction to this new situation. The ironic thing was that Emppu was the one who was the most welcoming one, but he also seemed to be the most badly affected by Tarja’s departure. Since then, I have been trying to get one of the guys to talk about it, but it’s like asking a wall! There were obviously disagreements concerning her between Tuomas and Emppu, but I figured it was worth it. I mean, Emppu always seems so… lost when I broach the subject. I wanted to help him, so I’ve devised a plan to get Emppu to mend things with Tarja.” Here she paused for a bit, to let Ewo absorb the information and get his first impressions. “Well, you don’t know subtlety, do you?!” He finally replied with a sardonic smile. “Are you sure you want to get in this… thing between Tarja and the boys? It’s definitely nasty.” “Yes I’m sure! Emppu is obviously suffering, and the others can pretend all they want that it doesn’t affect them, it’s obvious it’s not true.” She waited impatiently and tensely for Ewo’s answer. “Very well, I’ll help you. What do you need?” “Thank you!” She exclaimed with a grin. “You see, I wanted to meet with Tarja beforehand to get to talk with her…” And she explained her whole plan to Ewo… |
